Really good food, I have been going there for a really long time, excellent service and a large choice of dishes. I would recommend going there.
Too good food. the pepperoni poutine was very good. me and my friends were a few dollars off and the worker filled in the rest with his own money from his pocket. all my experiences were great. I highly recommend. it might be a bit pricey, but worth it.
Love their poutine - great flavour and great price. The Wild West sandwich and Queen smoked meat sandwich were delicious too! Nice place for eating in but also easy to call for take out.

I haven't been in a while, and I was a little nervous because some poor reviews seem to be cropping up. As an ex-pat Montrealer, I have enjoyed this place since it opened (late 80s?). They hand carve the smoked meat, which is juicy and flavourful - as authentic as I've ever had. The fries are appropriately double fried (very important), the pickle is salty, tart and garlicky and the coleslaw is very tasty. I loved the unexpected "gift" of an Original Jos Louis - brought back great memories of my childhood. The gentleman behind the counter couldn't have been kinder. He was working alone, but it was after the lunch rush and I didn't feel the wait was unreasonable. This is NOT a fast food joint - expectations need to be adjusted accordingly. The only thing I didn't love was the "light rye bread", which is really white bread with indistinct brown flecks. Traditional smoked meat is served on heavier rye bread, which is fairly dense, kind of a greyish colour and full of caraway seeds. I'm disappointed they've changed, but it's still a great sandwich and I'll be back.
Had the smoked meat and onion sub.....damn it was good. Will defo come back for another sub. The staff was friendly and hooked my buddy and I up with a free poutine.

Having missed this iconic place for so many years, I finally made it out a few days ago. It was early afternoon. It was empty as could be. The lunch rush was over, we were told. We saw that as a good thing, since we knew our order would be well taken care of. At least, we hoped so. We came for the poutine. Nothing else. At the order desk (they don't serve), we were greeted with a smile. Miss L ordered the smoked meat poutine, and I ordered the regular, since I intended to share some of her smoked meat pieces. In a reasonable time, our orders were ready. Fresh and good. The orders were *huge*, and a single fries and poutine is just too much for one normal person. Well, for most. But this was poutine heaven! Havening lived in Montreal for 7 years, I've tasted some excellent poutines. This was, IMO, the very best I've ever had in Calgary! The gravy was layered, not just on the top of the fries; and the cheese curds were awesome high quality; and there was plenty. I loved it. I tasted some of Miss L's smoked meat that came with her poutine, and it was exceptional! It was lean, but very tasty ... and not overly salty, as so many are. I loved it. So did she, and she's not a true lover of smoked meat. She said she would even have one of their smoked meat sandwiches next time we travel to the far reaches of Calgary close to the airport. They had everything you could imagine on their menu, which is usually not a good sign. Trying to be a restaurant that is everything to everyone is usually futile, and a sign of a struggle. Not the case here, as far as their poutine and smoked meat goes, and as far as their wonderful, smiling attitude. I highly recommend this place. Parking: 3/5. Service: 5/5 (smiles all around, but no table delivery.). Presentation: 3/5 (in a take-out box). Ambience: 4/5 (it's a fast-food place). Portion Size: 5/5 Flavors: 5/5. Value: 5/5.
Absolutely amazing experience. The food was incredible and authentic to Quebec, the service was wonderful even they were backed up with others they took the time to make sure we were happy and enjoying our experience. We will definitely be coming back!
Ate the poutine, was very pleased with the taste. Could have used some more salt and the pepperoni was very tasty. Could have had more pepperoni. Home made fries are awesome!
ok so i went in for lunch one day thought this place might be good and i was surprised as the 6 inch sub cost 10 dollars and took about 20 minutes to make so i had to eat on my way back as i started to run late although the food is good and maybe not what you pay for but its still really good i would reccomend this place to anyone but the ambience isnt the best and it seems like it needs some renovating Over all the topics i discussed it is a ok place to eat would come back
