Came on a Saturday morning and it was busy! It's a small place so it can get a bit packed. Food was pretty decent, standard breakfast fare. Service was very friendly; there are a lot of "regulars" who visit and you can tell the staff is very accomodating.

Friendly Owner. I really like the friendly staff. Recently doing some upgrades to decor. But the staff is what bring us back again and again. Good breakfast.

I recently went to Nellies on 90th and I really enjoyed it. I loved the laid-back atmosphere and the food was great. One of the servers told me they got new owners a almost 2 years ago which improved the place a lot. Give it a try!!

Ignore bad reviews and give Nellie's a try - I did!. My boyfriend and I had been meaning to dine at Nellie's on 90th for a quite a few weeks and today was the day.

Seeing as this restaurant is actually in Lonely Planet - Canada for Calgary, we were expecting a high quality experience with high quality food. That was, before we read other reviews.

Bad reviews weren't enough to keep us away. With the negativity in the back of our mind, we walked in to find the diner almost full. Luckily we found a table immediately and while I was still taking off my coat, we were greeted by a bubbly waitress asking us about drinks. While asking about drinks, she interrupted herself and said, "You are SO pretty!" to me. I was flattered but then focussed on drinks and was heartbroken that they didn't have milkshakes on their menu - I have been craving a strawberry milkshake for weeks. After this I was hoping for a latte but they only had drip brew coffee which I'm not a fan of so we both settled for water.

Whenever there's a breakfast menu, my favourite thing to order is Eggs Benedict, so I went ahead and ordered the 'Nellie's All Day Bennies' and chose ham from the choice of ham, crab and spinach. My boyfriend ordered the Ukranian 'Break the Fast' which is a Kielbasa sausage, boiled or pan-fried perogies with sour cream, 2 eggs any style, toast and hashbrowns. He chose pan-fried perogies and scrambled eggs.

The atmosphere was relaxed and I loved the retro style of the diner with booth seats and even a jukebox. It depends where you sit, but from most seats, the cooks can be seen in the kitchen.

Our meals came out about 10 minutes after we ordered them so we were happy we didn't have to wait long as we were quite famished. However, once I saw the hollandaise on my eggs came from, a squeezy yellow ketchup bottle, I wasn't expecting much from it. The hollandaise was extremely thin and runny with a taste resembling butter.

The first thing I love about poached eggs is slicing them open to allow the runny yolk to make its way around my plate. I was disappointed today when I cut into my eggs and the yolks were solid. The hashbrowns had a nice seasoning on them but weren't very hot. I enjoyed the selection of fruit on the side to refresh my palate after I finished my meal.

My boyfriend enjoyed his meal but we could tell the perogies were from a frozen pack as they weren't at all flavoursome and the Kielbasa sausage wasn't even whole, it was half a sausage cut in half and butterflied open. We looked in the dish containing spreads for toast to find honey but all we found was 'honey flavoured spread' so he just had his toast buttered.

Even though there were some negative points to our outing, overall we enjoyed our meals.

After all, can you really have exceedingly high expectations for $10 meals? It was worth the money we paid. If we had paid $20 for those meals, we would be mortified but we didn't, so we left satisfied.

We will definitely go back again and try another meal, who knows maybe their pancakes will be perfection on a plate!

Tried it again. Tried eating at Nellie's after a long absence. Things were better than ever and really enjoyed my brunch. Not as much of a line up and food was tasting and prepared really well.

Food was great! But food took so long. There was two server none of them told us it will take long because of the big group and other tables. Thought half of the tables done with their coffee and food but actually we were the last table once we arrived. And the man got his food first even we came first and stuff. Really appreciate if someone told us about wait.

Wow! Great friendly service even when they are busy. Food came out fast and was great. Especially for the price! Definitely a place worth checking out. Old school diner feel with a great menu.

Decent local brunch and breakfast place. The pricing is fair, the food is quick. It’s consistent, but not over the top amazing.

I've passed this great spot so many times over the years but never had breakfast there as it's been really busy every single time. Of course I knew it had to be great considering it's so hard to get into. Finally had a chance to have breakfast and it did not disappoint. Had an omelette and it was prepared extremely quickly and everything was fresh and high quality. The restaurant itself felt like an old school diner; warm and inviting. The staff was super kind and responsive. Will definitely return!

Had very good bacon cheese and my dining companion enjoyed french toast for brunch. Quick service in a trying to replicate diner atmosphere. Worth keeping in mind for breakfast or casual lunch when your in the area.

I enjoyed my breakfast overall. The eggs Benny was too plain for me but it was done nicely. I like the potatoes (hash browns). It had a bit of pep. Nice people. I didn't like the coffee.
