Excellent dim sum. Slightly cheaper than Forbidden City. Very fast service & minimal wait despite busy lunch crowd. Has all the dim sum favourites & more. (5/5)

Just finished eating dinner here for the first time, talk about a busy place! The portions are a really good size so no need to order a ton. All the food that comes out of the kitchen looks so tasty! We ordered steamed rice, ginger chicken, pineapple sweet & sour shrimp and peking duck (one course). Everything was delicious and flavorful. The only thing I would’ve preferred is shredded duck instead of slices of the peking duck. Also it would’ve made it easier to roll in the wrap. Will definitely come again as there are many items on the menu I want to try!

Really great dim sum! My girlfriend and I came here on Saturday for brunch and had a great experience. We came at 1:00 just as the morning rush was slowing down. The food was hot, fresh and tasty and our service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely be back to try more items

Ginger Beef – the local takeout franchise actually has a location dedicated to dim sum in Harvest Hills….and it’s good. So good that despite residing in the burbs, it was packed on a Tuesday at lunch. I love the fact that the restaurant is exceptionally clean and open – so open in fact, that you can see right into the kitchen…with it’s stacks of giant bamboo steamer baskets (I didn’t know these existed prior to this visit)! I was excited to order! We stuck with safe items like steamed dumplings, green onion cake, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, sticky rice in lotus leaf and shrimp in rice crepe. Next time I will try congee. The wide round tables are also great for visiting with large groups, and the larger the group, the more dishes you can share. Cost was ~ $20/pp, but again it depends on your size of group. This meal really hit the spot and may have induced my labour later that night. ha!

Probably some of the best dim sum you'll find outside of Chinatown! The interior is very inviting, and it's fun to be able to watch the kitchen through a glass wall during your meal. Service isn't overly friendly, but it's not rude either, and it's definitely very efficient. The Steamed BBQ Pork Buns ($5.25) were really good, but I do prefer a slightly sweeter pastry. The filling in both these and the Baked BBQ Pork Buns ($5.25) was generous and nicely seasoned: a good ratio of sweet, salty, and umami. The Steamed Creamy Custard Buns ($5.25) and the Baked Sweeten Egg Tart ($5.25) were also very good: an eggy, perfectly sweetened custard inside a fluffy bun or lovely flaky pastry. The Coconut Sponge Cake ($5.25) was definitely a highlight: a four tiered, golden, moist sponge cake with a faint coconut-y taste. The Steamed Shrimp Rice Crepes ($5.95) were pretty good, however the crepes were not quite as nice as some I've had at other dim sum places. The Deep Fried Shrimp Balls ($5.95) had a nice bouncy texture and came with a tasty sweet sauce. The Deep Fried Chinese Donut ($2.00) wasn't terribly exciting - I might have preferred if it came with a sauce or topping of some kind. The Golden Balls stuffed with Red Bean Paste ($5.25) were really, really good: a perfectly fried glutinous rice ball filled with a generous amount of silky, subtly sweet red bean paste. We also tried the Ginger Beef ($5.95) - nice pieces of beef and crispy batter. While not my absolute favourite dim sum in Calgary, it's still a pretty solid option - definitely worth checking out!

AMAZING!!! Absolutely amazing. We got the pork dumplings and the 2 person meal deal with wonton soup, spring rolls, s&s pork, and lemon chicken w/ chicken fried rice. We will be making this our regular Chinese food place. Hands down.

always come to Ginger Beef for dim sum as it is a short distance from our home and it is clean since they have a giant wall of windows that looks directly into the kitchen.  Not only do you know how clean and fresh your food is (as let’s be honest, there’s some restaurants that you question), but it is fascinating to watch the intricacies in making dim sum dishes.

The prices are a bit higher (around $5/dim sum dish) compared to other dim sum restaurants but did I mention the window where you can see how clean and fresh your food is?

I should also mention the service is still “Asian” service where the goal is just to serve you, not provide you with a friendly smile or any type of customer service that you may be accustomed to at other restaurants.

The open kitchen was an immediate attraction and the food was served hot and fresh, unlike a lot of the regular Dim Sum places in Calgary.  Good service, tasty food and some items I had never had before, like roasted turnip in puff pastry....delicious.  Taking a vegetarian and a Dim Sum hater there for brunch on Saturday; they will be happy!

Came in on a Saturday night after a movie. Tried sakė for the first time. We tried the deep fried wings, ginger beef and chicken fried rice. The quantity is good enough. 2 ppl couldn't finish it. The best part is they give u fortune cookies when u r done.

Great peking duck, prices are decent, service is good not sure why overall it is only 3.5/5 I think its more like 4/5.  They did raise their prices a few times thats the only thing.
