We had the beef tenderloin and it was the best one I had in Calgary so far. It was extremely tender and it came with a very sophisticated and delightful choice of side vegetables and puree. If you are a chocolate lover, the Death by Chocolate mousse is to die for. There a few places in Calgary that can live up to my fine dining expectations and the Bow Valley Ranche is on the top of the list by far. Disclaimer: I work for the Great Events Group but this did not influence my honest unbiased opinion.

Excellent service and food! I had the veal - so tender! And my husband had the ling cod - he says the seafood chowder that accompanied the ling cod was excellent. We have been here several times now and every time has been fabulous. This time we were celebrating our anniversary - food, wine, and service including the special "happy anniversary" chocolate sign on our dessert was fabulous. BTW the "death by chocolate" dessert was soooo good

My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner, we sat on the patio, and it was beautiful out, our server was amazing, she was very attentive and friendly. I had the lamb and my boyfriend had the tenderloin both were delicious and cooked perfectly. We also shared a bottle of wine, there were tons of choices. It was hands down the best lamb I have ever had. We had the death by chocolate for dessert, which was my new favourite dessert. Every person that walks into this restaurant should eat this dessert. Our server also brought us the cake pop dessert because we were celebrating. :) We can't wait to go back and try more items.

Seems like the weather has finally turned around in the city and the roads have cleared and I can confidently say that summer is just around the corner! It has been a crazy winter, one that didn’t seem like it was ever going to end. Luckily for me, there was lots of yummy eats that really got me through the season including this amazing meal we shared at Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant earlier this year. Although it was quite chilly when we made our way down, it was like stepping out in to a winter wonderland and enjoying some quiet time outside the hustle and bustle of the city.Atmosphere: Cozy and intimate, a great location for that special night out with your significant other or a lovely brunch.Price Range: Mid $10s - $30+

Had the oysters and the elk tar tar for appetizer and the rack of lamb for main. All was great took a little long to get the main but the atmosphere and the staff were fantastic

After living in Calgary over 30 years, my wife and I recently had dinner at the BVR. We enjoy good food with interesting ambiance and now feel we have been missing out for a number of years. It has only been one visit but the surroundings were great, the service very good, and the food quality, taste and presentation competes with anything we have visited within the Calgary area. Its not cheap but if you are fortunate to afford, you would be doing a disservice not to consider this restaurant for a lovely romantic evening.

Bow Valley Ranche is located off the beaten track, right in Fish Creek Provincial Park. Don’t make the same mistakes we did attempting to find this place. There’s only one way to get there by car (don’t trust GPS!). For some reason, certain areas of the park are closed off so you’ll get stuck if you attempt to drive through it. Bike there instead.😉

Must try! Amazing location. We sat on the patio that has a lovely view of fish creek park. The service was great and the food was very yummy. We tried the caprese salad, cheese and meat charcuterie board. We also had a few cocktails that were made to perfection.

Beautiful location! Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food; I was expecting overpriced pretentiousness, but got genuine quality. Service was exceptional. Will return.

Brought my mom here for her bday tonight along with my brother and husband. It was our first time here and I was excited since I have heard great thing about this place and wanted to take my mom somewhere special for her 60th birthday. When you walk in its like walking into a house, there are many rooms divided up looks like a living room and lounging area then when you go to your left there is a big dining hall. Service was fantastic and the food was exquisite. We got the wild boar belly and elk tartar to start and they were awesome! I tried a piece of my brothers pork chop and my mom's lamb sirloin and they where both tasty. I would recommend the lamb sirloin though. My rabbit & and foie Gras roulade was on point and very well seasoned and sauce was great. My husband said his steelhead trout that was the daily special was delish. We got the s'mores and white chocolate raspberry creme Brulee dessert was good. Would totally come back again and I recommend this place to anyone that wants an exceptional meal.

It’s pretty neat that the three of us who dinner together once a month all have our birthday’s within 2 weeks of each other. We decided to go somewhere ‘fancy’ for our joint birthday dinner and chose Bow Valley Ranche way down south in Fish Creek Park. None of us had been here before, and because it’s winter in Canada, it was pitch black by the time we arrived. It was truly hard to find this place! We drove past the first beige sign on the right side of Bow Bottom Trail because we were following the GPS navigation. Don’t do that! If you follow Garmin’s directions it takes you further south into the boonies. It was, however, nice to see the deer browsing the fields in the glimmer of our headlights. We did a u-turn in the darkness and headed back to the beige sign (the text that most stands out on the sign is for Annie’s bakery). So, we took that side road west until we came to a parking lot. There was another beige sign for Bow Valley Ranche/Annie’s but no real directions on where to go. We zig-zagged our way through the empty parking lot until we saw the large house with blue Christmas lights on it. With no signage, we figured out the only way to get there was by taking a non-descript road on the south side of the parking lot. This road took us to another parking lot, specifically for the restaurant. Does this sound confusing? That’s because it was!

The Bow Valley Ranche is always an outstanding experience. Specializing in local game and locally grown ingredients, you'd think that the food would be tough to eat, but it's prepared so well sometimes you forget you're eating wild food. They're a great option for those looking for organic and sustainable food.

My last trip to this restaurant I started with the Wild Boar Belly. It was a very soft cut of pork slathered with a sweet sauce with a slight smoky finish. The meat cut away like butter and was incredibly satisfying. It was also a nice size that alone it could be good enough for a meal.

The Deconstructed Venison Wellington was the highlight with the soft and tender meat placed on top of a thin hard pastry. Covered in a nice sweet demi glaze, the meat could be mistaken for lamb and not venison. This is definitely a dish I'd get on a return visit. Great quality.

I do have to mention the house-made garlic and olive bread to start the meal. Small cuts of bread with large chunks of garlic and olives. It's pretty addicting you have to be careful not to fill up on it at the beginning.

A quaint little house converted into a restaurant, the Ranche has been a great spot to go for a nice date or family dinner. Service is impeccable and the food is high quality and well-prepared. Prices are at a $35+ mark for entrees and well worth it for a off the beaten track fine dining spot.
