Best Indian food! We just LOVE this place! We usually do take-out though. Their chicken vindaloo is divine! I wish they were a tiny bit cheaper, maybe by $1 per dish and I'd probably eat there more often, but their food is worth the cost!
This place has large portions, decent prices, and decent food. If you're looking for some comfort indian food this is a good place to go. Nice service and it feels very much like a family style indian restaurant. Their curries can be spicy if you ask them and there is a large variety of dishes to choose from. I particularly liked their lamb curry and their samosas. Everything is way too greasy, but some people like that.
King Mahal Restaurant (家庭式北印度風味餐廳)
Chicken Tikka Masala $15.99 ~
"Like many other East Indian restaurants, both of these curries were served in metal dishes and we ordered some naan for soaking up all that delicious flavor. The spices were just right and we were particularly impressed by how juicy they were able to keep the chicken."
Best Indian place in Vancouver!. The BEST part of this restaurant is the FOOD & service!
We have become regular customers of King Mahal Restaurant. The service is by far the best of any other restaurant in the lower mainland. The father & son team always makes us feel comfortable and welcomed. The atmosphere is relaxing and the restaurant itself is very clean.
The food is amazingly delicious. The Tandoori chicken they have is nice and moist and the Lamb Korma is soo tender. The side order of Rice was surprising; it had long grains and wasn’t mushed together like some places. The Garlic Nan bread had the perfect amount of garlic. All served with WARM plates! That’s five star service right there.
We’ve read the reviews of this place before going our first time. Some people just do not have common sense, if you order take out then the food will have a top layer of water due to the condensation! All you have to do is mix the dish before eating. If you cannot handle nor have the brains to realize that just dine in rather than writing a bad review on purpose...
I recommend everyone to at least try this place out before jumping to conclusions on other people’s reviews. For the service and quality of food you get I think its well worth the price.
A Hidden Gem. Generic exterior circa 1980s London. Inside decor is pretty understated. Not Gaudy. Good music laid back easy listening ''Ghazal'' music while I was there not the latest of Bollywood. As A 1st timer, I ordered a take out. Was greeted by a very charming, personable, young man eager to please and explain the virtues of what they serve. We were very pleased with what I ordered oout. Felt like a veg head today so ordered Baigan Bharta (Eggplant) and Daal Makhani .Flavours were delicate, complex and balanced. All entrees are served with rice. I will go back and dine in next time. Check this place out . A little gem in North Burnaby's crown.
Our go to for Indian!!. We live in North Burnaby and this is our go to place for Indian food! Everything we've tried has been delicious. Super friendly staff and the buffet is pretty good too. The decor isn't the greatest but your always greeted with a smile and the food is tasty so it makes up for it.
Ive eaten indian food all around vancouver and this place is amazing.
Fresh, extremely flavourful, great service. Only complaints was one time we asked for spicy and it was maybe a bit too spicy, an it could use a minor decor facelift, but we are regulars and it can be forgiven. Too bad people only eat butter chicken because there is more to indian cuisine!
King korma has 9 different veggies and you can taste them all, amazing pakora, paneer, fresh roti, good chai tea.
This place deserves way more business.
Excellent!!. We live in North Burnaby, and this is our go-to place for Indian food. Excellent food and attentive service at a reasonable price.
Love the place, but I think there was another story to nightmare at King Mahal.
I frequent this restaurant quite regularly, and you can read my review at another large Restaurant review site. The gist, the food is good for the price you pay. But I was speaking to the manager regarding nightmare at King Mahal and from what I was told:
-Four patrons entered the restaurant. They can in, ordered the food, cleared their entire plates then complained about the food. They were ogling the girl across from them whom was with her companion and using derogatory language amongst them regarding that woman. They then asked for a mixed Rita and when they were told there was an extra charge, their tone changed. They then said they were not going to pay for the extra Rita. They then complained loudly to the owner so the rest of the patrons could hear how bad the food was and how it was not spicy enough. The manager said the group of four young males looked like they were very belligerent and the owner wanted to call 911 because one of the men threatened the manager. So the manager told them to leave without paying.
There are always two sides to the story, but if you legitimately don't like the food, complain at the beginning of the meal, way before you finish it. Otherwise, it just looks like you were trying to scam the restaurant by finishing your plate and then complaining and then muscling the manager at the end.
King Mahal is very accommodating in their food and spice levels. They make great pakoras, tandoori and butter chicken. This is probably one of the best places in the lower mainland if not Burnaby for Indian and the owner used to be the head chef at Saffron before going out on his own. You gotta try it!
