Excellent service & the food is superb...
I will recommend this place to my friends
Boom top notch food and service. Highly recommend to everybody.
There are two different sizes of their udon bowls – either small or regular. Since we were sharing some rolls, we both got a small size. Portion wise, it was perfect!
Now, the star of the show… the udon! The udon was chewy and denser than most places.
Sekai Udon Bar is located at Metrotown Mall Burnaby. It offers traditional Japanese food here. Because of the location, It becomes one of the busiest Japanese Restaurant in the local mainland. There is more than 100+ seating capacity along with an open sushi bar and an open udon preparation area.
I went to Sekai Udon Bar with my friend around Monday Lunch Time. The restaurant was busy, but we could still find the table easily. We gotta into the restaurant fast. After we sat down, the server brought a tea pot and menus to us. There are three different kinds of menu, include special food, lunch special, and regular menu. After we discussed about them, we choose to order the lunch combo because it’s super cheap, only $9.50.
The lunch combo has 4 items, noodles, rice, soup/salad, and special chef dish. That’s lots of food for one person. Also, it’s a great deal. Both my friend and I ordered Niku – Sliced beef & original soup and Salad. Besides that, I had Sake don – salmon sashimi My friend ordered Curry croquette don – Coconut curry & creamy croquette. In addition, we ordered $6.75 Japoutine Tempura battered fries, with cheese and gravy to share.
Our food came out the kitchen fast. They were all fresh and tasty. My most favorite dish is Japoutine. It was Japanese Style poutine =tempura-battered potatoes (or sweet potatoes) + poutine-ish ingredients (cheese and gravy) + seaweed sprinkles.. The sauce of the Japoutine was very delicious. Niku udon was nice, it was traditional udon bowl with sukiyaki beef and assorted veggies and mushrooms. But, I preferred the soup to be boiling and noodle to be chewy. not too soft.
Hello foodie friends! As you have seen from my recent visit to Rice and noodle restaurant and Peaceful restaurant, I’ve been on a noodle kick lately. Grayson and I were about to head on over to Jinya Ramen bar but the wait was too long so we went to Sekai udon bar instead. Sekai udon bar hasa been on my radar ever since it opened a few years ago. We have just never went because there are too many restaurants in the area to go to.
After an afternoon of shopping in Metrotown mall, it only made sense to have dinner at Sekai Udon Bar! I believe they took over an All-You-Can-Eat Japanese restaurant a few years ago, but they still retained some of the similar traditional Japanese restaurant decor. Seating is abundant and spacious.
Not bad for an Udon Bar..unfortunately I don't think they are authentically Japanese. But you can purchase freshly machine made Udon by order only if the operator is on site on that shift. Regular side dishes are also available as well. He Takoyaki was tasty too. Rumor has it that it's situated outside the Bay Metrotown at the old Shu Shi Ya that was closed many moons ago by the Health Inpection Department. A definite must try...
Great place to go for affordable Japanese food and best part of all, it's located conveniently inside the mall! Been here a few times in the past and I've always enjoyed the food.
I've been here plenty of times. Service is ok sometimes and other times the waiters can be very unfriendly.
Food is decent and if come for their lunch/dinner specials it's a good amount for the price you pay.
Very conveniently located in case you don't want to eat at the food court.
Location is important, and Sekai Udon Bar is probably the only viable options for sushi or casual Japanese cuisine within Metropolis. Unless your in love with supermarket or food court level sushi, the only other choice is to leave the warmth of the mall (Yes I know there are options around Metrotown, but those aren't inside the mall). I've been here a few times, tried the made in-house udon. I'm not a big fan of udon, so coming back here I decided to order one of their sushi combos.
Excellent food overall and well presented. Service is very attentive and efficient. Prices are very reasonable. I'll have to come back for more.
Excellent service and food. High quality sushi and udon. I love the tan tan udon extra spicy. It's not a typical tan tan peanut sauce noodle. It has a very unique flavour. I'd recommend it to anyone who is a spicy food lover.
The servers are always very nice and go out of their way to make your experience at the restaurant an excellent one.
