I was in today just before noon and beat the lunch rush for a takeout order, this was my first visit but wont be my last. I ordered the double hot dog with a order of fries (came to $10.25 total, and cash only accepted), and it was Delicious! the fries are sooo good, freshly made to order and seasoned with salt and vinegar. My double hot dog was perfect, they serve a European style wiener in the hot dog and its finished on the griddle to give it a nice crisp skin, the bun is toasted and I had it with onions mustard and relish and honestly it was GREAT!!! The place was staffed by a very nice couple who were working in tandem, the cooking area and seating area are small but spotlessly clean. If you are looking for a nice alternative to the usual lunch stops..... take a chance on Angelo's Chip Shop. Its a diamond in the rough!!!
A true North End gem.. I've lived in the north end for years, and for the last year just down the street from Angelo's. It was dinner time and I am pregnant and was craving a burger. So husband suggested Angelo's.
The only place I can compare to is White Top a few blocks away on Selkirk, and honestly Angelo's completely blows them out of the water!!!
I'm not a fan of chili on Burgers, but I am a fan of their Burgers with chili on them. The burger itself is a nice size, perfectly cooked (not mush at all like a previous reviewer said), the bacon is thick cut, the onions go well, and I love their relish!!!!!
The key was the bun though, soft and chewy.
It was so damn good, we had them again the next night. And to be honest we will probably have them again tomorrow!!!
I will admit, I wasn't a huge fan of the fries, but I am really picky with fries. The amount they give you is great though, and my husband and son loved them.

North end hospitality at its best. The true test of a good burger joint is do you go back. Do you think about it when you think of the best burger you've tasted. And, for me, Angelo's fits the description on both accounts.
A don't blink or you'll miss it building with a red and white stripe colour scheme, this is north end hospitality at it's best. A family affair, there is most certainly an Angelo, working the grill, or taking cash (only cash) from a constant line of customers.
Every bit a hole in the wall, Angelo's is nonetheless spotlessly clean and efficient. Seating is limited, but you can't pass up an opportunity to sit and spin on the vinyl top pedestal stools lined up along the lunch counter resplendent in its 1950s teel starbursts, the last excusable use of that particular design element.
Patties are cooked covered on a flat top as any good burger should be. Super thin, they're served up fast on perfectly proportioned sesame seed bun then topped with bacon, chilli, onions and relish.
Because they're so svelte, I found the patties a tiny bit dry, and was left wanting for a little more meat, but the seasonings are spot on!
The chilli wasn't overpowering as it often can be, but because the patty and bun are of modest but respectable size, the generous pile of onions proved overly abundant and ultimately overpowering. I highly recommend asking for them fried to tame the flavour, and being one of the friendliest crews on the burger scene, Angelo's team is happy to oblige special requests.
Fries were cooked perfectly, fresh cut with a hint of sweetness you only get with fresh cut potatoes, but I wish they were a little more seasoned.
Bacon tasted nice, light and smoky. Patty was nicely spiced, very flavourful. The real prize here though, are the fries (with gravy).
