My wife and I went to Les Saj for the first time today. I must say, I was very impressed. Best Sharmwa I have eaten in Winnipeg. I’ve been to a few hot spots before and have not been impressed. I was here, and it all started with the quality of the meat. I had the mixed donair , I recommend for any meat lover like myself, my wife got the chicken shawarma, both were excellent. The gentleman who I assume was the owner was very courteous as was rest of staff and we were served promptly. Establishment was very clean and everything tasted homemade and fresh. Definitely would recommend and will be back to try other items and a mixed donair ;-)
Arabic shawarma was authentic with very good bread, excellent chicken, complete with pickles and garlic sauce. Fatoush was quite lacking but alright if you think of it as a tossed salad with Arabic croutons. Fries were great, and service was very friendly!
Very nice shawarma. Worth checking out.
Prices are reasonable and a family of four can have a nice evening out.
Very pleasant and friendly staff.
I ordered take out of the lamb kabob with rice and fatoush salad that comes with a flat bread with I believe a red pepper oil on it. I love lamb and pretty sure this was just ground beef. A bit too much salt but very flavorful and I'm sure this is not a consistent thing. The rest was great as well. I would have preferred the salad to be a bit more and in the separate side of the container instead of the garlic sauce as there was a lot. Picked were good and wished for more turnip pickles. People were extremely friendly and pleasant. Will definitely come back!
Ate here last night with my date. Got the mixed platter to share and was not disappointed.Lots of food for 2 people. The beef shwarma was incredible, juicy and flavorful.Definatly my favorite in the platter. The chicken skewer was really good to.The chicken shwarma was a little dry but the spices were good, and it was late at night so the shwarma rotisserie had been cooking all day.The only thing I wasn't really impressed with was the lamb kebab. It was very dry and cold and seemed to be precooked. The service was casual but decent. Saw the table next to us complain about the hookah smoke from a other patron, that was pretty funny as we are accustomed to places that do hookah, although we do not partake it does not bother us as long as the establishment has proper ventilation.Would go back soon but probably just stick to beef shwarma unless it's early in the day.
Great food in the St James area of Winnipeg. Friendly staff, good variety. Owner was very friendly, came and asked us personally how the food was. Can’t wait to go back. Delicious food spot.
Great food, clean restaurant, employees are very friendly. They explained everything and let us sample food before we decided what we wanted. A little pricey but overall very good. Highly recommend the lamb kabob.
Finally got to visit this place last Saturday. Walked in around 1pm. Ordered the Beef Donair, but they advised it was sold out. So that was disappointing. So I got the Beef Shawarma instead and my son ordered the Shish Tawouk platter.
I found the Shawarma was way too saucy, so the next time I'd probably ask for the sauce on the side. My son's platter was outstanding though. The staff were super friendly and the food came out pretty quick. Will definitely give this place a try again.
We just had dinner at Les Saj tonight. I had Falafel and my boyfriend had the beef donair. Everything was very tasty! The staff are so incredibly welcoming and kind. We will definitely be back.
Excellent service
Food is fantastic! Really tasty altho small portion.
The only thing i dont like is their exhaust. You will smell like a trapped smoke when you leave.
Over all I do appreciate this kind of business. :)
Quick filling meal. Decent prices. Lots of tables available but they are small. Tasty rice and chicken, lettuce was wilting, dessert was flaky, some extra foods and candy for sale at front of store. Sells Turkish Delight.
Great place for shawarma and other middle eastern dishes. Prices and portions are fair, food was freshly made. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back to try other dishes. Also ask for the hot sauce, has a good kick to it.
Great food. Friendly staff. Had the Arabic Shwarma but forgot to take a picture. We shared our meal and it was enough. Not fancy but clean. Washroom was a little dingy but didnt really affect our enjoyment. Prices were reasonable.
We went there for a quick dinner. Very tasty beef donairs with a perfect thin wrap. Tabbouleh salad and Falafel balls were also very good. Service was good, the only thing I would note is the cleanliness of the place. It needs to be better.
Summary:
Pros: Good Food, Courteous staff and attractive ambiance.
Cons: Value of money is questionable. Fries needs extensive improvement.
So today we decided to try the middle eastern restaurant in town. The weather was pretty nice and the parking outside was full so for a minute i was like perhaps it’s not a good idea but when we walked in, it was not packed. Once you enter, you can pick the menu before seating down. Once done with the menu, you order there and pay upfront. The guy on the counter is pretty courteous and will call the name of the item and you can pick it up from the counter.
The shawarma was great, sauce was even better but fries were a total turn off.
If someone from Les Saj is reading this, do something about it. The fries were thick and probably frozen when they were fried in hot oil. The outlook was nice but they still needed time for the inside to be better and cooked.
All in all, it was a good experience. If you haven’t been there yet, give it a shot.
