On Saturday evening we felt like having Chinese food for dinner, so we headed to Asian Legend in Vaughan. The restaurant was fairly busy, with several larger groups. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all.
Instead of our usual spring rolls, we started off with Rolled Onion Pancake with Sliced Beef, from the Dim Sum menu. It came wrapped in tin foil and was sliced into four pieces. We weren't sure if we should use the tin foil to hold each piece as we ate it, but it didn't take us long to to unwrap and enjoy each savoury bite.
Then we shared a small bowl of Hot and Sour Soup. Their small bowl was enough for two individual bowls each. For me the soup was spicier than most, but still was a good second dish.
Finally we had the Kung Pao Chicken. This dish was also spicier than we have had in the past. We usually order some steamed rice, which can cut down on the spice per bite, but we forgot this time. Oh well.
The ambient is great, the decorations are simple but very nice. Crowded on weekends, I am not sure during weekdays.
The food is based on the Shanghai cuisine. Typical steamed or fried dumplings, xiao long bao, hand pulled noodles, etc. The flavors and portions are good but I found it a bit pricey.
Regarding the service, it was good, very attentive staff.
Definitely a place to try!
Consistently drive here from my home in Milton. We frequent various locations but this is our favorite. The staff here are phenomenal and the food is just as good. Everything on the menu is good I've never been disappointed when trying new dishes. Would recommend this place to anyone.
