Yesterday 20180803 my boyfriend and I had LI'S CHINA GRILL for dinner. It was our first time having food at this place and we had such a great time there.
Li's China Grill is a Chinese Style BBQ place. It's located on Kingsway downtown side. The restaurant is very small. There are 5 big squared 4 people tables, 2 big circle table for six people families plus 4 small for couples. Inside the restaurant, a couple of Chinese decoration is on the wall. We arrived at the restaurant around 5:30 pm when it just opened. The restaurant has become busy. We had to sit down into the six people's table to share space with others. This place was very unorganized. The customers who ordered food to go, sit down at normal people's place to wait. It made other customers who were eating in, had no place to sit. They had to wait for those takeout people done. Then, they could get a table. Besides that, they only had one server bring Ipad to take an order for each table. It was very slow if the customers wanna know more about the dish. Also, other servers just stood there, looked at them, did nothing with other tables. It was a very bad customer service.
After waited for a while, we began to order our food. We had BBQ Lamb Skewers, Northeast Style vegetable salad, Beef tendons, chicken hearts, honey garlic chicken wings, whole eggplant, Enoki Mushroom, and Grill fresh Oyster.
Our food came out of the kitchen fast. All the bbq meat were well cook and well seasoned. The taste of the food was awesome. They were very authentic. Northeast Style Vegetable salad was my favorite. It's in the large portion. The combination of peanut butter with vinegar were great. If they can put more vegetable (cucumbers) and meat (like chicken) on the top. It will be perfect. The whole eggplant was well seasoned with their special sauces. It was awesome. The Grill fresh Oysters were very fresh and big, with the Garlic sauces on were very delicious. Comparing with another Chinese BBQ place down the street, Happy Tree House BBQ, I believe Li's China Grill is better. Also, the price of the food was cheaper than another too.
We were very happy about the food. It was awesome. We will definitely go back to this place to try more stuffs. Highly Recommend people to go to this place earlier when it just open or before it open. Since the restaurant has limited space inside, if you are late, you will have to stay outside to wait. Then, you will wait for your food inside as well. The most popular dish in this place is Grill Fish. It will takes more than 1 hour wait if you are coming late.
came here during weekdays dinner, definitely must have reservation if not it'll be packed, and ordered a couple items, each dish were.. quite good actually, despite the rating i think it's worth dropping and try it for yourself, and definitely recommend the fish, the spices and the texture of the fist is definitely likable at the very least. it's like deep fried but at the same time there's a layer of ungodly inhumane goodness of fish fat. not sure how they made it that way but it's definitely one of the memorable dishes i've had in vancouver and the other dishes that i've tried i think it's definitely good for me as well. the skewer is good as well meat was tender and juicy

Went couple times with coworkers for their famous grilled whole fish. My personal favourite is the rock fish, as the texture of the fish is stiffer and chunkier, easy to split among friends but harder to suck in the flavours. I like the idea that there are 4 different types of fishes people can choose from and every type of fish does have different features. For ex Cat fish is soft and tender but too soft to my like. Everyone seems to have different favourites. Another thing to note though is that the waitress will always ask u to order couple cold dishes as it will take some time to grill the fish. It's just a way they sell their cold dishes. Last time our grilled fish actually came before all our cold dishes :P that been said, their cold dishes aren't bad at all. Anyhow, this is a great place for flavourful grilled fish. And good value if shared among friends. Addictive too .... I am officially hooked ... Highly recommend this nice little restaurant
Sooo, is this where all the rich asian kids hang out? ;) I'm assuming most of you guys live in the GVR, if so you've probably seen a iradescent PURPLE lambourghini with an orange outline driving around town LOL. The last time I saw that car was on the highway, to Richmond haha. Well yesterday, that same car was parked outside of Li's! Walking into Li's, there was not one single person over 30, except for my dad haha! Everyone there looked like they were all in their twenties and they were all dressed really trendy (spiked louboutins, designer bags and all.) My dad called them "Dad's money!" LOL. Not going to lie, I was a bit intimidated lol. I'm just a meek, backpack toting, nerdy looking asian girl with wide rimmed glasses! Signature Dishes Li's signature dish is their grilled fish! They have different kinds: Catfish, Lingcod, Skate Fish, and Rockfish, which all retail for $13/lb, which comes to about $35 per fish. You can also choose the sauce that goes on your fish: Sichuan
The signature of Li’s China Grill is their Sichuan Style Grill Fish (巫山烤魚). Almost everyone who comes here orders the fish. There are four kinds of fish and six sauces for you to choose. We have ordered Cat Fish with Sichuan Spicy Style (麻辣鯰魚). Smells very nice. The skin is crispy. The fish is very smooth and there are not many bones. Once we had the first bite, we couldn’t stop except for water breaks, hahaa. Besides the fish, their skewers are also good. From the top, we ordered two Lamb(羊肉), one Beef(牛肉), two Chicken Gizzard(雞腎) , one beef heart tube(黃喉) and one beef tendon(牛筋) . The lamb and beef is ok. There are better ones in many other restaurants. Whereas the beef heart tube and the beef tenden are pretty outstanding. The former is bouncy while the latter is soft. Yummy~~ Beef Tongue Very thin yet the seasonings are superb!! We love it very much and we keep ordering this.
