It's not a sit-down kind of place. You order, hang around while browsing vietnamese groceries, pay and take it outside. But apart from that, the banh mi subs are excellent! Crispy/fluffy baguettes that melt in your mouth! I can't drive by Kingsway without stopping in!
Just hands down best tasting, most authentic & TOP quality Viet subs I've had in all of BC. 5 Star from me, and i need to come back for a cold cut sub soon!
Video review with HD footage on my youtube channel: vancity food crew kim chau deli
.
Kim Chau is one of my favourite places to get banh mi sandwiches. I like to get the Kim Chau Special (#1) and the Marinated Pork sub (#2). The subs have perfect light and airy bread and solid ingredients. The only reason why I don't rate it 5 stars is because they do not put cucumber in the sandwiches. Other than that, its a great place to get a banh mi! (Cash only)
A good selection. What would be great is if they stole the french bread recipe from Tung Hing and used that bread for their subs. Then, it'll be complete lol. I'm being serious, their subs are great but the bread is lacking.
And the choices here are fantastic. Whether you are wanting to try your hand at home-made subs to pho, they have the ingredients. From the beef balls to the deli meat.
If you are looking for anything Vietnamese related, they probably have it. The rice rolls (wrapped in banana leaf) are great here too!
Vegan/Veg Friendly!. Had a veggie-ham sub. Great bun. Fresh veg and only $3 freaking dollars! Sandwich maker asked if I was vegan OR vegetarian. Nice when ppl know the difference (omission of mayo only vegan difference I think...).
First up is Kim Chau Deli on Kingsway which is actually more of a deli than some of the other places that I tried. With all of the grocery items in the store, I was actually a little confused when I walked in and walked right past the bánh mì station located right at the front of the store.
The shop is a small Vietnamese style deli/market which prepares a lot of their own food. It looks to be a wholesale operation at the back where can you see lots of employees making the food. The front of the store is the retail operation where you can find all sorts of packaged dry goods like noodles. We came here today as we needed to get our fix for Viet Subs.
