Gyu Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant is located on Burrard St. Vancouver, which is 5 mins away from Burrard Skytrain Station and Robson St. TThe location is very easy to find. The restaurant is on the second floor of the building. Besides it, it’s Micheal’s. I went to this place couple times with friends and family before. We’ve been there all around lunch time because of its lunch special: $25 Lunch Usuyaki All You Can Eat. The All You Can Eat is including:

ITEMS ONLY SERVE ONE TIME PER PERSON 以下三項每人限食一次
• Edamame 日式毛豆

• Prawn, Salmon, Squid (one of each) 蝦、三文魚及魷魚各一件

• Gelato 意大利雪糕

ITEMS FOR ALL YOU CAN EAT 以下六項任食

• Seasonal Greens Salad 日式田園沙律

• Miso Soup 味噌湯 • Filet of Chicken 雞扒

• Thinly Sliced Ribeye (Usuyaki) 薄燒蒜蔥肉眼卷

• Fried Assorted Vegetables 炒什菜

• Steamed Rice 白飯

The servers cooked all the food in front of you. If you want more food, you can just let them know. They would cook for you. The servers in this restaurant are very friendly and helpful. The food here is clean, fresh, and well cook. It was a very great experience for me. I love it.

First time having teppanyaki. I used my Groupon as always to eat here. Unfortunately, weekend after 6:30 can't use the Groupon so we came here at 5. We were sitting beside the chief. There was 11 courses. All are quite small but once you eat all 11 courses you will be full. We had green salad, lobster miso soup, fried vegetables, beef fried rice, sliced rib eye usuyaki, AAA beef tenderloin, salmon steak, prawn, scallop, lobster and mango ice cream. It was good. Nice service. They just all taste the same because they use same seasoning. It's only worth it if it's not so expensive.

I can see why there's alot of mixed reviews. Some chefs are not very sociable and don't do tricks, and some do. Also alot of people don't know that you can reserve a private room.

If your Cantonese, ask for chef Johnny. He's a really nice guy and loves to talk about people, food, and life. When you reserve a private room the experience is much better imo. I'm not sure why people don't tip their chefs, but American tepanyakis you usually hand off a 5, 10, or 20 bill. I guess the housing market is squeezing people's wallets.

Food is decent, not mind blowing though. The meats and foe grais are delicious. They have live fresh seafood. I would recommend this place for date night. Its playful and interactive.

I was not very keen about going to gyu to use our about to expire groupon because of the negative reviews here. the only time they could fit us in was 5:45 which is a tad early for dinner but it gave us time to walk on the beach afterwards.

the meal...we found the chef to be friendly but quiet, which was just fine by us. the food was fresh and well cooked. he explained the sauces to us and was ready to answer any questions or requests we had. the servers were friendly and efficient with the tea and removal of dishes.

we had a great meal that was just enough food cooked really well and using very fresh ingredients. i would go back. the non groupon price is a bit steep though.

fresh tasty food; friendly service; clean facilities

Great Food Experience. Although this is the first time we ever tried a teppanyaki restaurant, I was impressed with the food and experience. We had a 10 course meal included with our groupon, so the price was reasonable for us. It was fun to watch as our chef prepared our food on a large hot flat top grill in front of us (flames and all) while we tasted the different asian flavours and sipped on the japanese tea. The atmosphere was nicely lit, and because you are seated in chairs with a wrap around table, it is easy to converse with your neighbours. The only confusion we had was in finding the place, since it's located around the street corner from the main building.

Used to be another oriental resto here. When we came last time in 2007-2008 there was another oriental resto here. We noticed it changed but it is still oriental so why not what's the difference we went in. Sushi was super fresh.

Great place, dont be scared away. My GF really wanted to come here and after reading some negative reviews online I tried to convince her otherwise. I have to say that I am glad I was unsuccessful!

I went on a Tuesday evening at 7, had a reservation which was kept and was promptly seated at a "bar" surrounding a large wrap around grill in the center of the room. We were brought tea immediately and the host came to explain the menu. We ordered the cheapest dinner for two and stuck with tea to drink. Shortly after being served a salad and miso soup our chef came out and greeted us carrying our first course.

Our meal consisted of scallops, shrimp, and fish fillet followed by what I believe to be beef strip loin steak. Then came a shaved beef roll up with green onions and garlic inside. Our final course was a choice of udon noodles or fried rice and a mixed veggie/cabbage stir fry. Then we had Icecream.

He was great, very pleasant and polite. at this point another group of 4 came and sat next to us and for the rest of the evening our chef alternated between cooking for us and the other group. This was great because we were entertained by seeing dishes other than what we ordered being cooked and it gave us time to eat at our leisure.

Our bill came to $85 including a 15% grat which I was happy to pay since I thought the service was top notch. Also, I assume the chefs get tipped out as well as the serving staff so the automatic grat makes sense. Even with the cheapest option, the main difference being no live seafood from their tanks, we still had enough food to walk out of there full.

I will come back, although a bit out of my price range to be a regular spot, this is a great place to come on special occasions or on a date night.

Gyu is located on the 2nd floor in the same building as Salam Bombay with elevator access on Alberni. We had a reservation for lunch, but still had to wait for almost 10 minutes in the waiting area. It was because the chefs were preoccupied with other customers and not because there was a lack of seats. The chefs in the centre were surrounded on all 4 sides by long communal tables. The place setting was simple with complimentary green tea. We each got a dish of 3 condiments to go with our meals. The clear one on the left was a bit sour like rice vinegar. The one in the middle tasted like garlic and went really well with chicken. The red sauce on the right was like ketchup with a more watery consistency. Behind the sauces was a dish that was kept on the hot steel plate throughout the meal. The chef would put the cooked food onto this plate so that it would stay warm. We decided to order different lunch teppanyaki courses to share. We got the chicken ($13.95), the beef ($15.95), and the
