Great tasting ramen, gyoza and spicy chashu rice 🍜 fast service and excellent staff. My niece's go-to ramen shop 😋😋😋
Clean place, great service and awesome food... what more could you ask for!
Grayson and I have been to the Yah Yah Ya ramen Richmond location before and enjoyed what they had to offer so we decided to go check out the downtown location. The downtown Yah Yah Ya ramen location was more spacious than the Richmond one and it had hand painted murals that covered each of the walls.
Service was fast and friendly. Portions on the large side, we both ordered regular size and that was plenty. Broth good, although the richer broth ordered with more oil was nicer.Egg flavour good, though a full egg instead of half would be better. Noodles very nice. Chashu not the best, taste good but a bit stringy, could be much more tender. My miso garlic ramen was deliciously garlicky, they are generous with the garlic chips. Black tonkatsu, my partner had this, was good but a bit light, the triple black at Koika is a better version.. Overall, would go back, good ramen.
3.6/5 I came across this name for many times, but had never thought to visit. Today, I'm on the way to a movie, and decided to eat something. Randomly, I walk in. And I order the soupless reman. It comes like ground pork, spice flavour, and noodles. I'm impressed by the texture of the noodles, that is what I always look for from a bowl of ramen. However, they need some work on the broth ( although it is supposed be soupless, it does contain a bit of broth). The spicy broth reminds these Korean instant noodles, which isn't a pleasure feeling after eating. Last but not least, I love the chasun don!!! Rice is soft and meat is soft too!!
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
+4
There was a period of time when it seemed like we were eating ramen all the time (actually, some call it winter) but lately other things have caught our attention. Nevertheless, it seemed like a good idea this evening. We took a long walk to Robson and found Marutama closed for the holiday! Fortunately a few blocks further brought us to Yah Yah Ya Ramen! Right away, if you go there, make sure you write your name on the wait list! There is no indication that you need to do so, and no hostess doing it for you, just the annoying feeling that you are being ignored!...not a good start! Things improved quickly though as we did put our name on the list and were seated shortly. The folks working here are friendly and helpful and at least on this occasion, very busy! One side of the restaurant is a couple of big semi communal wood tables which are comfortable and sort of rustic. We ordered and quite enjoyed the Karage Chicken. Some kind of sauce would have been nice but the chicken itself was very tender but hot and crispy. Marie and I both thought the Black Tonkatsu Ramen was some of the best that we have had. Garlicky and rich describes the broth which came with tasty just slightly chewy noodles. You can order your ramen with various levels of noodle softness, oil and flavour as well as the usual add ons but it was very good just at normal levels! For $3.45 we ordered the Ramen as a Chasu Set. This was an excellent Chasu Don with a generous amount of pork to go with the rice beneath and a topping of Japanese mayo and katsu (?). We also tried the Abura Soba which is basically noodles without soup. I know you experts will freak at my oversimplification. All the sauce is at the bottom of the bowl waiting to be mixed. There was vinegar and red chili oil available which you add to your own taste. Its a very nice dish with more emphasis on the noodles. We liked it alot. I'm not sure if a lot of local ramen places serve this. Apparently in Japan, restaurants specialize in it the same way others specialize in ramen. All in all, we like Yah Yah Ya Ramen. It has occured to me lately that I almost never dislike any restaurants we visit. I think that is just because we choose well, relying on other food bloggers for the most part! You will like it here also!
2018.06.09. My boyfriend and I went back to Vancouver looking for a place in a week. By accident, we found Yah Yah Ya ramen restaurant on Robson Street, downtown Vancouver. It was our first time having ramen at this place. We had such great experience.
Environment:
Yah Yah Ya Ramen Restaurant is a Japanese Ramen Restaurant, located on Robson Downtown Vancouver. It’s a second location in Vancouver and its the most favorite dish is Yokohama-Style Ramen. We arrived at the restaurant around early noon. Even though it was still early, the restaurant was still a little bit busy. Luckily, we found a table and sat down. Inside the restaurant had Japanese Style decorations on the wall. There are 2 large communal tables inside the restaurant and there are free small tables on the site. There are lots of space in the restaurant. Inside the restaurant was nice and clean.
Service:
After we sat down, the server brought the water and menu to us. She was very nice and friendly. She gave us very helpful suggestions to order the food. The menu in this restaurant was in very simple Japanese style painting and characters. It offered customers options to choose the types of noodles, broth intensity and oil intensity they want to eat, which was very unique.
Food:
After discussed with each other, I ordered the regular size Spicy Miso Ramen and kimchi. My boyfriend had regular size Miso Ramen. Both of us ordered normal noodle, normal soup based, and less oil for our soup. Our Ramen came out of the kitchen fast and well cooked. Both spicy and non spicy Miso Ramen are including chashu, bean sprouts, seaweed, and flavored egg. The noodle was very fresh and soft. The soup was very delicious and tasty.
Prices:
The ramen noodle bowls in YAH YAH YA RAMEN Restaurant are very cheap. The regular sizes are all around $10.25 and the larges are $12.25. Kimchi is $3.50. Everything in total plus the Tax and Tips, we spent $25 for our lunch.
In summary, we had a great experience eating at YahYahYa Ramen Restaurant. Highly recommend this place to everyone. Cheap, Convenience and Delicious.
ok service

i don't like the seating layout

if i had to choose 1 dish: black ramen
would i go back? yes
I have finally found a place in Vancouver that rivals my favourite- Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. I've had Jinya, Marutama Gaiden, Marutama Ramen, Ramen Butcher, Taishoken. This place owned it. You can pick the taste and oil levels, as well as the noodle type (thin or regular, regular being the more typical type of noodle found in ramen) and noodle density. The broth is not as thick as other places, mystery being that they still manage to pack rich flavour in every scoop. Black tonkatsu is a must have. I got it at all normal levels with regular noodles the first time around but for next time, I will be getting regular noodles, soft and possibly light on taste and normal on oil, depending on which affects salt levels more. My partner ordered the shio and agreed that the black tonkatsu was better. Portion size is decent- not the best price around, that is still awarded to Santouka. Partner also did a combo and got the cute small spicy chashu. Packed a lot of flavour in that tiny bowl and absolutely worth trying.
One of my favourite ramen places in Vancouver. Always love their Shoyu Ramen.
The ramen comes with some spinach which I found a little bit different from other ramen places. The Cha Su and Egg are ok. The soup base is perfect. Light and not too creamy.
The restaurant itself is really spacious and their service is great!
Today I was invited to a media event for a newer ramen restaurant: “Yah Yah Ya”. Although getting the invite and reading its name at the time, I wasn’t sure what kind of restaurant I would be walking into. Truth-be-told, I haven’t actually heard of them until today, but did acknowledge their great choice of location. They are situated across the street from the highly acclaimed “Jinya” flagship restaurant, which also specializes in ramen. As a result, I am sure “Yah Yah Ya” will be seeing a lot of run off traffic because of their popular neighbour. Those wanting ramen, heading to “Jinya”, but not wanting to line up, instead cross the street for bowls of similar noodles and broth of the same name, at “Yah Yah Ya”. Thus becoming immediate fans of them.
Yah Yah Ya Ramen opened their second location in Vancouver and they specialize in Yokohama-style ramen. The style of ramen blends tonkotsu and shoyu broth together to give a unique blend of broth. We were invited to try their special Cold Ramen only available in the summer. There are 2 larger communal tables inside and a bunch of other smaller table. Lots of space for ramen lovers.
