Early for an appointment decided to give this place a go as i seen it on Becki and Chris(Youtube) i ordered a large P6 Special Beef Noodle Soup and Spring Rolls the food was extremely delicious was told their soup has no MSG added (two thumbs up) the service was all smiles i would highly recommend this place
Flavours are on point!
The grilled lemongrass chicken had a good coating of the marinade & char grilled to perfection.
The spring rolls were crunchy & packed full of pork mixture.
Prawn salad roll had more vermicelli noddles that prawn. Dressing is creamy & nutty.
My recommendation: special vermicelli bowl.
We love this place. The beef noodle soup pho taste like homemade and the service is really nice. We came when they almost closed but they still let us came in and didn't rush us to finish. They treat us like family. I will come back definitely.
The pho is really good, and the deep fried spring rolls are my favourite even though a little pricey for the quantity
The service is always super friendly!
Hey guys! Today we have a review of A Taste of Vietnam, a Vietnamese restaurant located near Vancouver General Hospital. Do the pho and spring rolls here warrant the trip away from the pho-land of Kingsway or is this place just an outlier? Read on to find out. Food: Team Tastic came here for a post-musical-theatre-show meal and I had the following:
Started as a mistake.. end was so right!. I have 3 top places for pho, and this is one of them.
Especially since the second time I sat down here I made a mistake which was oh so awesome. Before TOV I was not very adventurous with my pho. Broth of coarse was number one, but after that all i wanted was some sort of beef and maybe extra noodles. Slowly I was getting more into spicing it up myself, adding more cilantro but never tripe or tendon. That was for certain!
But after I moved to the Vancouver area I accidentally auto-piloted when I ordered my soup. I sat down by myself for a quick bowl of Pho and ordered my usual large P1... but being that I wasn't in my usual restaurant when my bowl showed up, wasn't thrilled. It was nothing but noodles and tripe. When i figured it out I just asked for a side of beef to add my dish but as I waited the sweet sent of the broth was tickling my nostrils and I had to start sipping. After a few sips it turned into a few bites, and thats when I realized... if the broth is good enough, i like whatever you put in it!!
I now order the House Special the min I walk in, with salad rolls to start and an iced coffee. The girls are always waiting with a smile, and a nice little treat of melon and a mint once all is done.
It is small inside so if you are going for lunch know you may need to wait a few min, but it will be worth it.
Scumptious
Great lunch spot. Quick and tasty food.
Always order for pick up. Beef noodle soup is always spot on, though a bit too greasy. Deep fried spring rolls are constantly disappointing. It's like they haven't changed the oil in their deep fryer in forever. The fresh rolls are decent, but the peanut sauce it comes with isn't very good.
Have always loved the oak and broadway location. Today we tried the Kingsway in burnaby location (franchised they tell me). The food was very good. Taste over portion. Much better than the previous pho restaurants that have been here. However, the service was meh. Waitress got mad at me because she gave me the wrong order
Good choice for eats around the hospital, good pho and bahn Mi's. I go here to eat pho and bahn mi. Both those items are tasty and relatively inexpensive. (about $4-5 for bahn mi, approx $7 for pho. My partner and friends positively reviewed the lemongrass chicken pho, and all the bahn mi's. They have vegetarian options for both also which are delicious and the reason why I go there. Otherwise the rest of the food is lackluster, and overpriced. A small size pho is a perfect portion. I found this to be one of the best options for eating by the hospital.
