The atmosphere here is awesome. My friend and I had a lot to talk about just looking around at the decor and layout. The waitress was great as well, I enjoy how they take the time to thoroughly explain each dish. It feels personal that way. I hated olives before this but they convinced me otherwise with those Italian ovals. The hen was really delicious. Usually if I eat a lot, I’d feel really bloated and tired but no coma from this one even though we couldn’t finish everything. Testament to the freshness and way they prepare and cook each dish.
Must come back, there are a lot of things I’d like to try :)))
Very nice open space. We liked our wine and burgers. Unfortunately they weren’t serving dinner yet, but they did do a nice burger for us. Maybe next time we will stop for dinner.
This place was a classy and casual place in the busy, but dead after 8 pm Mount Pleasant. They serve interesting recipes and great cocktails.
I highly recommend the Happy Hour which starts at 10 pm till 1 AM where they have a simple selection of eats and cocktails for cheap!
Came here for my friend's birthday and so glad we did! We were a group of 10 and had a table upstairs right next to the kitchen. On our way in, the kitchen looked clean and the dishes they were bringing out smelled delicious! As we sat down, we were greeted with a smile and drinks came out quick! As a table we shared the calamari and fries! The calamari was amazing and I couldn't stop eating the fries. Had the brisket and it was the best brisket I've ever eaten! My fiancée had the salmon, it was good, but a little salty. The highlight was my friend's chicken skin wrapped ling cod! Definitely something I've never eaten and super scrumptious! Definitely coming here again 😊!
Went here for a special beer - food pairing event. The beer cocktails were fantastic. The house made bread appetizer was delicious as was the fish course. The pork tenderloin with smoked glazed was cooked perfectly. The chocolate cake dessert paired with the final cocktail was the star of the event. I haven't been to the restaurant to try their regular menu but if its half as good as the food from this special event it would be worth the visit.
Everything looked good on their brunch menu!! I will need to go back and try other items :)
The biscuits were only ok though.. I wanted to try because it sounds like it's their most popular item as the menu says it's $9 or until supplies last... I feel like I was tricked into getting it a little bit...
My poached eggs on kale was good tho, so I'd still go back to try the pulled pork with egg on ciabatta - that was my other choice I was deciding between :)
Still our top favourite and most amazing restaurant! The food is not just local and exquisite, but it is priced better than some of the super high end places like an Anchora or Hawksworth. And the taste is better too! And cool hipster atmosphere, decor, and super friendly service :) this place has got it all and you must try it!
While some restaurants come close, like Verre or Nightingale, I feel like the structure of the dishes and individual flavours stand out much more and complement each other very well!
Excellent drink selection
I recommend the Rusty Nail
Brunch menu is very good.
Recommend making reservations as can get quite busy.
Seats at the bar cannot be reserved ... so even if the tables are all booked there's usually seating at the bar
The food was amazing, fresh, full of flavor but timing was off from the minute we walked in and the service was off. This was the first time we have given a 10% tip in a long time. We arrived 10mins early for our 8pm reservation. The hostess was abrupt in telling us our table wasnt ready as ppl were still sitting at it. Another couple walked in a few mins after us for an 8pm reservation and were seated right away. Then I was called Heather when my table was ready so I think they screwed up the seating. It took more than 15mins for us to place our drink and food order. Our appies came out relatively quick but then we waited almost an hour for our main courses when the table of 6 beside us got their appies first and their mains before we got ours. We had to ask about the wait and were told it was the hen we ordered as it takes longer to cook. The communication from the server was poor, they even discounted one of our appies for the wait but didn't tell us so I didnt see it until after I typed in the 10% tip. We will go back again because the food was so awesome but on an evening when we dont have secondary plans incase this happens again.
Overall pretty impressed with taste and quality of the food at Nomad. We had the fries w/ bourbon aioli & sunchock "wings" to start - highly recommend the "wings". For our main we had the salted cod with polenta; wild mushroom stroganoff; poached wild salmon and the pork rillette. I would recommend the stroganoff and cod polenta, but warning about the cod polenta ~ it's served in a bowl (almost porridge like) ...but the flavours out of that bowl 👌. Service was great, atmosphere was good.
