The most innovative dish of the night was the Salmon Tartare, an amalgamation of salmon, onion, cilantro, avocado, and oba tempura. The tempura oba leaf was very well executed with just the right amount of crispiness. The savoury marinated salmon was also an excellent contrast to the tart zing from the minuscule pieces of cilantro

Between the awesome service, incredible food and fantastic drinks, this is definitely the place to eat and drink!!!!!
It’s been a while since my last visit to Kibo. They are a modern Japanese restaurant which is popular among larger groups celebrating birthdays or other milestones. We came here to grab a few bites and get some drinks in the evening. A pitcher of Sapporo comes with frosted and chilled mugs. Sapporo is my preferred beer to go with Japanese food as it balances the flavours very well.
Time to use my Groupon haha I came here with my husband. I think before 6:30pm theres a happy hour special price. The set meals we had, it seem not enough for us so we add few more. If you use Groupon, you get salmon tartare, udon, deep fried chicken, sushi,miso soup,short ribs. I added beef carpaccio, sashimi and chikuwa cheese. All of food were pretty good. It seems quiet here though, maybe because it was still early???Not sure.
Awesome Date Night. My BF and I loved this place.
Modern and romantic setting. We could sit side by side on the comfy couch, and enjoy a nice date night meal.
Food was great. Had the Beef Carpaccio, crazy roll and Aburi Block Sushi. All super Yummy!
The special drinks were inexpensive ($6). They come in a mason jar, and were loaded with real fruit. It was tasty!
The servers were very attentive too. I'm a slow drinker, one waitress noticed that my drink didn't go down much, and asked if there was anything wrong with it.
Would definitely go there again, when we are in the neighborhood.
Had such a great meal. Went their with my fiance and shared 4 items 3 of which i didn't see on their online menu. each dish tasted exceptional! there was a special beef roll with truffle oil so good! highly recommended. the unagi in california dream roll actually is grilled instead of deep fried and its portion was very generous. under the tempera section, there was a spicy tuna that came deep fried in the size of a gyoza with a mint leaf in between, really unique and tasty! last item was seafood okonomiyaki which was solid. overall food was 5/5 and service was super attentive. will be back!!

Great food and vibes, bad service. My friends and I wanted to try this restaurant and when we got there, we were surprised to find that it was filled with people. The food would get me to come back, but the service was definitely not professional. A particular server served us our drinks, spilled it and claimed she didn't even work here; clearly she was so drunk she didn't know what she was saying. A live DJ was spinning that night, which made up for the bad service that we had to encounter. Overall had a great time with good music + great venue + good drinks + delicious food.
Shooters and Sake. Decided to try this place out with two of my girlfriends and we had an amazing night! shooters were 4 for $20 which kept us happy throughout the night. The atmosphere was great although service wasn't too prompt the place was packed and everyone looked like they were having a good time. Not only was the atmosphere great the food was also delicious we had some appies but the mussels and kibo beef were delightful! definitely a must try.

Fantastic Find. My sister was in from out of town and had purchased a "Groupon" for KiBo, so we decided to try it. I wasn't really thrilled about having to try and find parking in Yaletown at 5:30 on a week night (usual crazy traffic in Vancouver), but thought I might luck out; I did as there were a couple of spots right in front of the restaurant. I thought "well, if it doesn't pan out foodwise"...I won't be too upset, as I'm not having to walk blocks AND pay for one of the pricey parkades.
The restaurant/bar was smaller than I'd expected, but the atmosphere was great: subdued lighting; interesting music (fusion/drum 'n bass/techno) not too loud; just the right number of tables to allow for both groups and/or intimate dining and menus both in written format and "story book" picture style (very neat). Our server, a young woman, was very pleasant, explaining the specials, making suggestions for both the meal choices and drinks and answering all our questions. We hadn't intended to order an appetizer, however, as she described various items, we were sold and went with the Ebi Mayo (puffed prawns with spicy mayo....so good). If this was any indication of the the meal quality, then we were in for a treat. I had the Kibo Beef and my sister had the Rack of Lamb - both were incredible! We then decided to indulge in dessert ~ mango gelato and a tirimasu gelato (talk about rich...mmmm) and finished it off with coffee, which was dark and rich, almost Americano in flavour ~ I generally don't like anything so strong, but this was like nothing I'd tasted before; it too was excellent, just like the entire meal.
I will definitely be going back again and again and intend to tell friends about this spot ~ a great restaurant with excellent food & fantastic staff (professional, polite and super attentive 10++).
Try it....you won't be disappointed!
Speciality food. We were there because of the groupon and I'm glad I was there! the atmosphere is perfect for yaletown with a disco ball that changes colour in the middle. the restaurant was pretty pack due to the groupon. Crab salad $9 was bite size salad on 4 crackers. Truffle Prawn and scallops $14 - 3 prawns sitting on top of 3 scallops. Nice presentation and the prawns were big too. Aburi Kibo sushi $17/ 6 pieces - the sushi did not come seared?? I thought they forgot about it. When I was just about to ask my server, my friend said that's what she got at Miku's too. It would not worth it if it's just regular sushi. Volcano roll $12 - way too much rice which makes it mushy. The worst dish of the night. Maybe they need to pan fry after or sth. The next table ordered crazy roll and it looked good. I think I will try it next time ..Food was a little pricey but it was okay with the groupon. I got another groupon and I'm planning to go back there again.
