Just moved to the city a month ago and I can't believe I found my go-to Indian restaurant already! Indian Bay Leaf, I can't get enough! The dishes are so flavourful and filling. I've had consistent quality. My favourite dish is the Butter Chicken. You know when you can taste the tomatoes in a creamy sauce that it's the best! Staff are very friendly and attentive!

I order for a chicken dum biryani medium for a take out ... The taste was spot on but the spice level was too much for me so I called them back for the issue.. Respecting my concern, the owner himself delivered another mild order of biryani to my place for which he did not charge me anything .. Now that's the true definition of Hospitality !! .. Going out of the way to make things right !!
I am amazed at the taste if Hyderabadi dum ka chicken biryani at Indian bay leaf. Biryani is just like homemade, reminded me of iftari in India at my best friends house. Okay cutting long story short biryani is awesome and ’salan’ is too good. My wife loves their chicken broth soup as well. Overall good ambiance and perfect food. Biryani lovers please visit here.😊😊😊

Food: I must say this is the bestest place to have Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani in Vancouver . If u r a biryani fan ( of course everyone is 😛), don’t think twice , just go. Not at all pricey for the amazing flavours guys!
The biryani plate is served with raita(yogurt) and a gravy. Portion size is huge for this price n taste.
Note: Please call them up and reserve ur plate of biryani . This saves ur time & their special biryani is always in demand !
The food was prepared fresh the rice were good but it was pretty bland and no where near the actual Hyderabadi biryani but the general ambience was good and service was good too.

If I had looked up Indian Bay Leaf on Zomato, I'm sure I would never have gone. How can a place that has received 5 and 4 star ratings have an average of 2.9?
It's a good thing I didn't look it up and instead went with some friends on their recommendation. The space is quite large, and looks pretty nice. We went for dinner on a Friday and less than half the tables were occupied at that time. Service was friendly and nice, and between three of us, we ordered a family pack of chicken Biryani. Hands down one of the best biryani I've had. The fact that they serve the meat with the bone in did not make it any harder to eat, as the meat was juicy, and soft enough to fall off the bones. The rice too was extremely well flavoured and spiced, without being spicy hot (we had asked for mild).
The family pack was large and very filling. We even had some left to take home. It's a pity we didn't eat anything else there, and my review is based only off one dish, but for that dish alone I would definitely want to return to Indian Bay Leaf.
The food is excellent, the service is good. Butter chicken is to die for!!
Their chiili chicken is unique, the spice touch is never experienced in vancouver..
Vow, This place has improved a lot on quality and service. the curries are the best. Goat curry is the must taste dish. Starters are to try for sure...lot more..will revisit vry soon with my friends..
we had butter chicken at this place before, we were informed that they changed the recipe, we gave a try, it is one of the best in town(Present butter chicken). Besides biryani and dosa, They are doing great curries which is making me go very often to this place. The place is very clean.
Their food improve a lot after going back there bunch of times. The first time we tried the butter chicken, it wasn't good at all. But after hearing that they change the butter chicken recipe, we decided to give it another try. Butter chicken is definitely way better than the last time we tried and it tastes delicious. Their chicken 65 is really tasty and the meat is very tender. We also really like the lamb dosa, chicken curry, and chicken biryani. I wouldn't recommend goat curry since there is hardly any meat, i felt like I was eating a starved goat with mostly bones. The customer service is very friendly and attentive. It is our go to Indian restaurant and we love the fact is is within our area.
