Great banh mi! Had an awesome experience here. I didn't have any cash and didn't realize it until I ordered. The owner compted my banh mi seeing as I was with 2 hungry kids on the verge of nap time melt down. Thank you so much. Will be back soon. So happy to have this place in my hood!

This is a small Vietnamese joint located on Victoria, a couple of blocks from 41st Avenue. Their menu consists of mostly Banh Mi sandwiches and various drinks; they do have an oven inside and probably make their own bread and everything else from scratch. Their sandwiches all contain vegetables and mayo, with different meats depending on the variety that you chose, and currently range from $5-$5.50. I had their Heo Uop Xa (Lemongrass Pork), Ga (Chicken), and Dac Biet (Special) Banh Mi. The sandwiches didn't blow me away, but were still very tasty, with a good amount of filling. They are also quite generous in size for the price. This is definitely a place that I'd recommend for a tasty and very affordable meal.
Heo Uop Xa, Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi ($5.50):

This contained lemongrass pork, mayo, and vegetable. The bread was quite crusty on the outside. It was a tad bit soggy on the interior due to the filling. The meat was well-seasoned and flavourful, albeit a tad on the dry side. I really enjoyed the mayo, which provided a great creaminess. I didn't think the sandwich was as overstuffed as some reviewers say, but they were still quite generous with the meat.
Ga, Chicken Banh Mi ($5.50):

This contained chicken, mayo, soy sauce, and vegetable. Flavourwise, this wa quite similar to the lemongrass pork, except with chicken instead. The meat here was more tender and juicy. Although the portion seemed a bit more stingy than that from the pork. Again, I really enjoyed the mayo, which was creamy and flavourful.
Dac Biet, Special Banh Mi ($5.50):

This contained ham, headcheese, meat ball, meat loaf, pate, mayo, soy sauce, and vegetable. This sandwich was certainly not short on meat. All off the coldcuts were tender and quite flavourful (quite honestly, I've got no idea of what I was eating, but it was all tasty). I do wish that there was a bit more mayo in this sandwich however: the flavour wasn't as prevalent as it was in the two previous sandwiches.

The place was very busy around 1PM. There is a few small tables in the restaurant but most people just take out and go. There is also fresh baguette for sale @ $2.75. Quite a few people bought the baguette while we were there. There was an assembly line at the preparation counter. One person does the spreading of butter & pork liver pate, another fills the cold cut and other meat and the next person will fill with fresh cucumber slices, pickled carrots and white radish and cilantro and top with chili sauce. The last person will wrap the baguette.
I love to see the staff working and assembling the sandwiches. The bread is fresh. The sandwiches are about 14" long. They are filled with fresh vegetables and a sufficient quantity of meat and condiments/sauces. The price is only $5.00. What can you get for $5.00? What else can you ask for in a Vietnamese sandwich? I am totally satisfied with the sandwich experience. By the way, drinks are $1.25 and there is no tax on anything.
Even though it is quite out of the way, we decided to visit Banh Mi Saigon because it was recommended by family, friends, and other food critics. It's a very well-run establishment. From order to pick-up, it only took 2 minutes. Though the Banh Mi here is very good, there were a few flaws that prevent us from choosing it as our replacement Banh Mi go to spot.
Love this place, 4.50-5$ for a good sized, great tasting sandwich. I normally get the special, which is everything you want from a good banh mi. Bread is fresh with a good crunch, good amount of meat and pate. I'll sometimes get the chicken or the lemongrass pork which are also delicious. Fast and good service as well.
Driving down Victoria Drive, I regularly see this Vietnamese sub shop packed with people. Finally I had a chance to try it out during a hot summer weekday. Aside from the subs, they also have Vietnamese coffee and some dessert drinks to choose from. They have a few people at the counter preparing the subs. There are about 5 tables in the shop if you want to eat in.
We went around 12pm on a Saturday - huge line up! However, the wait wasn't long at all (roughly 10 minutes?) Parking wasn't too bad either since there's a park right around the corner. Absolutely loved their subs, would definitely go back regularly. The coffee wasn't as strong as some other vietnamese places but it was still pretty good!
Service: Super friendly staff who were open to me filming in their restaurant. Thank you. . Bottom line: Fresh bread out of the oven and the toppings were just insane. It made me have one of those uncontrolled foodgasms where i go "mmmmm mmmm". I'm actually surprised the mic in my video caught that.
Fresh crispy bun and doesn't skimp out on toppings. Will come back for more! They also have a deal Buy 10 get 1 free! :) I enjoyed the house special very much!

Bánh Mì Saigon has been my go-to place for Vietnamese sandwiches ever since I discovered this gem last year. The concept here is pretty simple: you pay at the front with the cashier and wait for your order. The sandwiches are made to order which is a huge plus because I like to eat them fresh.
