I write this review with a glowing belly full of Hai Phong’s #36 – chicken with (thin) vermicelli in curry soup. The dish is full of flavour, generous amounts of meat, served with a side of veg and herbs. Five stars as far as satisfying soup on a cold day goes. It is a classically casual atmosphere however. This spot off Kingsway is one of my go-to‘s in Vancouver’s Little Saigon.
Love this place. Have the chicken wings. I brought relatives from HK to eat here today and they said better than any place in HK! So good.. best noodle soups too
I love this place so much. Their soup and broth is clear and just tasty! It doesn't taste unnatural like other places and their meat is sooo good. Even their lemongrass pork and chicken is the best, even comes with a small bowl of broth which is the best! The service is great too, one particular waitress is understanding and quick with the orders!
Best pho I’ve had in a long time. Good service even when busy. Large room with lots of tables so you can usually find a spot.
To those who criticize reviews by pho lovers.... it’s a free world. It’s winter and I want a great soup. So I’m often here for pho. Period.
TL;DR awesome broth and selection, a must try for pho lovers!
I finally stopped by this place on Kingsway on a Sunday. It was already fairly busy at 11 before the
church goers came through.
I had the pho with steak and beef brisket. It was absolutely fantastic! The broth was light and clear, it wasn't drowned in MSG so I wasn't desperately grabbing for water. The brisket was amazing, it was very tender and flavorful.
Can't wait to to go back again!
○decent service
○Good food/ we usually go here for tamarind crab / shrimp and if they ran out they're willing to make it for you if u buy the crab/ their rare beef is good too
○family friendly
○Good price for quality and quantity
○if I had to choose 1 dish : tamarind crab
○would i go back? Yes
Finding a new and unique Vietnamese restaurant to try is always hard because everything tends to be the same everywhere you go. I mean you have your beef noodle soup, your salad roll, your grilled protein with broken rice dish…you know what I mean?. So when I heard about Hai Phong, I jumped at the opportunity to try it out!
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. They have a wide selection of dishes, including my favourite, water spinach/ong choy/morning glory. To my knowledge, this is one of the only places that serve this dish year round, and for this sole reason it is worth a visit. The other dishes which I have tried were also very good.
I find it ridiculous that people base their entire review on one dish.
I've been going to Hai Phong for a while and have to say, they are without a doubt my favorite. The food is amazing as is the service. Also the tables aren't tiny like some restaurants. All in all a good experience with the great food. I'll be a lifer.
Fresh and full flavours.exciting presentations on the plates. Menu was more interesting than your typical Vietnamese joint. Exceptional value for money.
