Delicious galbi & sollong beef bone soups. Server was friendly and attentive. Second time returning as it is conveniently nestled in downtown Vancouver and open early hours. Dishes can be compared with authentic meals in Seoul, Korea. Definitely recommend!
Good tasting food. Service is okay. Authentic tasting Korean food, prices are decent. Would not mind going back. Had the bimbimbap and it was tasty. Lots of other delicious things on the menu.
Jang Mo Jib has been there for over 10-15 years. I have not been back since a long time. I am glad that they maintain their quality unlike some popular Japanese izakayas which quality keeps declining over the years.
The beef noodle soups is full of beef flavor, and I like that you can add salt and pepper to you preference.
I very much enjoyed this Korean meal at Jang Mo Jib. The hotpot was large and enough for large party and they made it nice and spicy. Loved the rice cake and the broth. Unusual korean menu in my opinion not just typical rice bowls and korean bbq. Service was very nice and it was a good group dining experience.
Good authentic Korean food. But the prices are a bit high for the portions, and the service can be somewhat mixed as well. All in all, still a great place for fans of Korean cuisine.
One of the classics for me in Vancouver for the first time trying korean food, the spices and food are just great from the first time and till this dinner that I have recently. Gam Ja tang (pork bone soup) is a must, and it's a big portion so it's good for a few people to share, and there are a lot of other items that I love from this place as well, their seafood pancake/kimchi pancake is great too, jap chae is great too, LA Galbi, and too bad they don't have jajangmyun. definitely can eat way way lot over here and if there're 5 of me eating in the same table prepare to shell out $35 dollars because I will chow down the whole items that i just mentioned previously. yea it's that good. however they have moved from their old location to the new one, and for some reason, the place now is a lot more quiet, but maybe that's due to a bigger space as well. and I dine at irregular hours as well.
overall it's one of the few places that I would recommend to my friends for korean food, maybe it's actually just decent for koreans, but for me, it's the start of the journey of exploring other cuisines in Vancouver.
Will upload the meal when i find the picture for now, it's only the post meal picture. :)
I've been to two out of three of there locations. Both times I went I really enjoyed the food. Might have been a bit pricey, but it's downtown so expected. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner.
Standard Korean - go with the pancake. Walking down Robson on Valentine's Day, Jang Mo Jib was the only restaurant that had capacity for seven people on short notice. One booth in the back of the restaurant allowed us to enjoy a nice intimate dinner with a satisfying Korean meal.
My favourite dishes for the evening was the seafood pancake and the Korean glass noodles. The pancake was crisp with the has brown type batter, but while the seafood seemed sparse, the chunks were large. The noodles had a good complex flavour with the firm sticky noodles.
The BBQ meats were soft and tender with a pleasant marinate for flavour. The Pork was a bit spicier than expected, but still good. I found the chicken wings difficult to bite through and a bit spicier than what I'd prefer, but if you like spicy food, many dishes will deliver. Overall, the meal satisfied and was quite filling.
Service on a busy Friday evening was a bit slow (I assumed it was because we were in a separate booth with low visibility) and I did have to ask for a few things like water more than twice, but at least the service was friendly enough when it came.
Jang Mo Jib was an okay meal for an evening out with family, but not sure I'd go out of my way to go there with many other Korean options in the area.
We were just at the new location on Robson. The food was delicious and service was also really good! Servers were attentive and helpful, which made our experience much more enjoyable.
I like it here!. My favorite korean restaurant in vancouver dt! Go with an expectation of mediocre service, but very good food and a large variety of korean dishes. Best place for "Korean people watching" as well :)
