[3.5/5]To me, Chancho is a taqueria version of the popular Meat & Bread, which should be known as the Carnitas & Tortillas. The simple menu with the only few options ensures their focus on doing one thing so well - delivering the flavourful roasted pork, which makes the tacos so darn good. Everything else here is great too – the corn flour tortillas, the fresh vegetable ingredients, and all the condiments such as the fresh salsa, the whole pinto beans, the pickled red cabbage, and the hot sauce. Like the Ramenman, they are located at a block that’s going to be redeveloped. I really hope we get to see the joint stay as long as possible.

Chancho Tortilleria is a new place, but its lesser known. They essentially do one thing. And they do it good. They do pork tacos, with soft tortillas made with a special tortilla machine from Mexico. It works out to about $10 per 1/4 pound of meat, so if four people go get a full pound and its $40 for four people. Go hungry as they give you beans and salsa and the tacos are delicious. They also do vegetarian filling but we didn't try those. I would return definitely for the authentic Mexican goodness.
Great restaurant. The tortillas are very authentic and the best I have had in Vancouver. The carnitas were very good I found it to be slightly too salty(for someone who loves salt) but it might have been a one off. The salsa verde was good could have been spicier. Best Taqueria in Vancouver reasonable price for the amount of food, unike La Taqueria where you are still feeling hungry after 4 tacos. Will be back.

They had me at “tortillas made in house". I decided to make it Taco Monday and so after some Gastown tacos, I made my way to this place, not far from the famous "Elbow Room" where they allegedly treat you like crap, a concept that eludes my understanding (but apparently not that of Tom Selleck and other celebrities) and makes me feel like someone just needs to grow up and exercise some kindness in their dealings with others.... Anyway... Chancho Tortilleria is not large. It has only a few table with chairs that might threaten to fold up under their more dedicated customers. Everything can be had to go though, including the tortillas and they themselves are worth the price of admission. If you have not had tortillas made today, you need to make this your next foodie adventure. The menu is confusing but the guy at the front counter is clearly used to faces twisted in anguish and cheerfully jumped in to assuage my bewilderment. I ended up with a quarter pound of Campechano, a mix of pork belly and pork shoulder cooked low and slow. This arrived on 4 of the aforementioned tortillas with whole pinto beans, pickled cabbage and 2 amazing salsas (one smoky, the other bright and green). It was lunch for about $11 and I want to say, everything was amazing! Vegetarianos need not fear, you are provided for also. This is good. Come here.
