First sushi meal of the trip even though I’ve been in Van for a week. No idea how that happened. We decided to check out a new spot (for us), Kawa Sushi. It’s located close to Amay’s House and Chau Veggie Express. We just missed the dinner rush when we dropped in on Monday (around 7:30pm). Lucky! Quite a few people came in for takeout; otherwise, it was pretty quiet. The inside is small with room for about 30 people. Service was friendly.
I liked their yam tempura roll and the jumbo roll, will come back again to try out the other selections. Sushi is pretty good so far, but I was not a fan of their california roll...
Good sushi with reasonable price. The service was poor. 2 of my coworkers and I went there for lunch. It took more than 10' that they came to take our order. That's not it... We got our food more than 10' away from each other! And we asked for bill... Another 10'... We asked for machine to pay... Gosh no! We took the after long time waiting for the server to come back to us... I like to go back for the food it self. But! I will

Go to place. Amazing sushi place with the friendliest staff. My boyfriend and I go here about once a week and get their Combo deals, they are simply to die for and so cheap I don't know how they do it. We both like simple sushi - california, tuna, salmon and yam tempura rolls - and Kawa does a great job of making it fresh and in large portions! The restaurant itself is small and very clean, and their pictures of the special rolls are very well-done. The best thing is that they pay the taxes if you dine-in so go give Kawa Sushi a try! :)
The man that makes the sushi here is really friendly every time we come in. The sushi is really good and his special rolls are to die for. Watch him make the sushi as well. He makes it very well and is very sanitary in the process. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.
Nice little sushi restaurant. Portions and price are decent, plus a 10% discount for pickup delivery! The. Fish is fresh and there are some interestingly fresh rolls on their menu.
Great little place. Very reasonably priced. Service is excellent. Portions are large. We have been here about 4 times this week!

Delicious and so affordable!. I have a couple of favorite sushi restaurants that I love and I generally refuse to try and eat sushi anywhere else because I don't want to be disappointed. However, the other day when walking past the newly opened Kawa Sushi, I noticed on their sidewalk sign they had a lot of delicious looking fancy rolls. I love fancy rolls, so I decided to give this place a try.
The decor is clean and simple, it is open and has nice big windows. We were enthusiastically greeted by the chef and staff upon entering. Once seated we were each given menus and hot tea. There is a lot of items that sound very good on the menu, the pictures on the wall helped in trying to decide. I was shocked at how affordable the larger fancier rolls are - between $4 and $6!!!! I ordered a miso soup and a ''More Crunchy' roll (8pc) both were extremely tasty! There was a junior hockey game on TV that went into overtime so I ordered some Green Tea ice cream for dessert. It was way larger than I had expected so I'm glad I had someone to share it with.
The service was awesome, our tea was always full! Very delicious sushi, walking distance from my house, and again very affordable. This will certainly be my new sushi restaurant of choice!!

Hey guys! Anyone in Vancouver can tell you how many Japanese restaurants are owned by non-Japanese families; Kawa Sushi is no exception. They advertise hard for their use of Smoked Salmon. Is it a game changer or should you opt for regular salmon? Read on to find out. Food: Coming here for a post-dinner snack with Team Joe’s House, I ordered a Wild Salmon Nigiri , Hokkigai Nigiri , and Octopus Nigiri . At first glance, the smoked salmon looks pretty plentiful on the rice but one can see this is just smoked salmon that tastes like the packs from Superstore and Costco which explains its relative price (and saltiness) to the regular Salmon Nigiri. Other than that, the other fish here tastes pretty fresh and I enjoyed the rice. Wasabi was just your regular fare, but that’s okay for me. Features: This is a smallish restaurant that seats about 30 and it’s a very bright restaurant so your food should look good no matter what you order. There were hanging lanterns when I went which I thought was a nice aesthetic touch. Service: I came late to join my party but it was super easy to flag down a server since it’s a small place. Tea service was pretty frequent and my order of nigiri came out within minutes of me ordering. Bill splitting was also easily done and payment was made at the back counter. Decided to drop by for dinner since we were in the area. We had the assorted sashimi, gyoza, unaten roll, and love roll. All in all, good value for our money and we will definitely return. We will have to try different restaurants in the area to determine whether we'd recommend it.
