Long's Noodle House 小龍記麵家 is a Shanghainese restaurant that has been best known for traditional home-style in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. The line up is consistent on any day of the week, but it moves fairly fast.
We can easily say out a few of their signature dishes such as drunk chicken 醉雞, xiao long bao 小籠包 (XLB), beef wrap 牛肉卷. and noodles. The drunk chicken was served slightly warm in a clay cup. It was moist and flavourful. Top-notch in town! The XLB was made to order. It was served in a traditional bamboo basket, and it had a lot of soup with dedicate skin. Super delicious! The beef wrap was rolled with juicy meat and with a touch of cilantro. It was really crispy and perfectly salted.

This is a Chinese shop located on Main Street, near 33rd Avenue. The shop is cash only, the staff actually alerts the customers of the fact by shouting "Cash only" the moment you walk in through the door. The interior itself is quite small and minimal, with maybe half a dozen table, about half of them large group tables. Being a single diner, I got to share one of the large tables with another pair of diners. The menu is quite large, consisting of appetizers, dim sum, noodles and various meat and vegetable dishes. Glancing at the tables around me, I saw that everyone appears to be ordering Tan Tan noodles, Wine Chicken, Beef Rolls, and Xiao Long Bao. I decided to get their Tan Tan with Meat Sauces Noodles and Beef Rolls. The food wasn't exception, though still fairly good, and the prices were reasonable. The service was pretty minimal, although the food arrives very fast and the staff were fairly friendly. This is a fairly solid Chinese restaurant; just be sure to have cash on hand.
Tan Tan with Meat Sauces Noodles ($9.50):
3.5/5
The noodles had a nice bouncy texture. The sauce was flavorful, being mildly spicey and having a slight peanut fragrance. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't much ground meat present however.
Beef Rolls ($7.95):
3.5/5
The wrapping outside looked a bit anemic, and was a tad too tough and chewy, although still tasty. The filling itself was actually quite a bit like peking duck, except with beef: there was a sweet flavour of hoisin sauce and cilantro/scallions. I could have done with a little more beef, however.
Summary:
Food: 3.5/5
Price: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Overall: 3.5/5
Recommendations: Beef Rolls

This place is a lesser known cash only place that serves up Shanghainese food. I have a friend who frequents this place so she knows what is the best. We got the beef noodle soup, xiao long bao, beef roll, and the pork rice cake. The beef roll and the giant awesome intact xiao long bao were the real winners. The buns were huge and full of that soupy goodness. The beef noodle soup didn't have a lot of beef in it but tasted fine. The pork rice cake had lesser quality pork but you get a lot of it. You definitely need to come with a few people so you can try out more dishes. Its a solid place to get asian food for sure.
Decided to take a long walk to this restaurant. The place is quite small, and it is quite small. It is also cash only. The pork dumplings were really hot, flavorful and juicy! The wine chicken also very tender and tasty. We also ordered some noodles and they were also quite good.
XLB was 7.5/10. Thin pastry, seasoned meat and a pouch full of tasty broth. Drunken chicken was not bad, but not pretty good, its more on subtle flavours side. Their egg yolk rice is RIP OFF, $17 for greasy rice. Its definietly a side dish that needs a soup or gravy meat to go on top. Dan dan noodles, the noodles had great textureband chewiness
People who whine about bad service, well the place is a dump so shut up.

Long’s Noodle House is a Shanghainese restaurant that has been around for ages in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood best known for traditional home-style comfort Chinese food from xiao long bao, tan tan noodles, and delicious soups at an affordable price. You could say they’ve earn the reputation of being a ‘hidden gem’ due to their obscure location
Long’s Noodle House is a very… cozy restaurant. That’s the polite way of describing way. To put it more bluntly, the restaurant is a hole in a wall. It has very few seats, and on busy nights, you would have to share table with other patrons. Nonetheless, we’ve heard good things about the food!
It was a sauna in here, like a sweat house but that’s okay, I was just eating a quick lunch here. I was lucky to catch them before they take break after the lunch rush, my guess is they close around 2:30pm as that is when I noticed the entire staff team come out and have lunch together.
Tasty Shanghainese food right here! 😋 The dishes that stood out are the beef roll and xiaolongbao. We came at 6:00 and managed to grab the last available seating on a Friday night. Service was super fast and kind of abrupt as expected of Chinese restaurants.
This place is SO popular, i guess it doesnt help that its really small so goodluck coming here if its busy. That aside, one of the must get items here is the XLB's (xiao long bao) and they do live up to their expectations. I would put this in my top 3 places to get XLB's in Vancouver atm, i also ordered the salted egg rice dish that looks kinda like rice krispies! This was very addicting but not something i could eat alot of because of how greasy and salty it is.
