This is a cafe located on Broadway, in Kits. They are a very popular hangout: I was lucky to be able to grab a seat. I got a Stumptown Milkshake and a Deluxe Ham Breakfast. The sandwich wasn't great, but I quite enjoyed the milkshake. The price is a bit on the higher side, but it's not too outrageous considering the quality. I can't speak on whether it's a good hangout (I'm not into cafe culture to be honest), but I think the place is worth visiting for the drinks alone.

I asked what this was, and was told that it was a coffee milkshake. I think it was similar to a frappuccino, but creamier and less sweet. It had a pretty good flavour of coffee and wasn't at all icy.
Deluxe Ham Breakfast ($5.50):

This consisted of an English muffin filled with egg, ham, cheese and some vegetables. The muffin I got had a pretty large and thick piece of eggs inside, which I found to be a little underseasoned. Strangely, even though there was definitely ham and cheese inside, I couldn't really taste much of it. The sandwich was just, overall, a little too bland for my liking.

Recommendations: Stumptown Milkshake
After discovering the one in Granview area, I wanted to also check out the one on Broadway. Again, the interior was built to look like a platform at a train station. Such a unique cafe, I love it! Unlike the other one, this one was less crowded, though it could have been because it was a weekday early evening. The place is clean and has a hipsterish feel. The concrete wall is fake, but it’s still fun to be in a Disney-like feel.
I have been here now twice, once on a Sunday morning and once on a weekday evening and both times was super busy! Loved the music, the vibe and the decor was so unique! Take a look at the page's photos, how many coffee shops have this kind of set up? A train station?! This welcoming cafe has a fun share-the-booth concept, little plants throughout the cafe, clean bathroom, plenty of seating options, fun white Christmas lights draping the ceiling...just a super cool place.
Their coffee menu and coffees are elaborate and delicious. I only had one of their treats and it was okay, nothing over the top amazing. They also hand some sandwiches for savory options that they could warm up for you.
My rating is more for the uniqueness of the shop, the atmosphere and a good spot to catch up on a book, with friends, a date or to study. The baristas are friendly and don't make you feel rushed by any means. All-in-all, if you want to have a good cuppa jo, you won't be disappointed.
I’ve not been this excited for a coffee shop opening in a really long time and it’s my pleasure to say that the new Platform 7 Cafe, in Kitsilano, was totally worth the wait. A really friendly group of employees, great coffee and food, as well as one of the most interesting venues I’ve seen in Vancouver.
Great space. Any coffee shop that has an Areo Press option gets a thumbs up from me. The coffee is top shelf too. I haven't had anything other than a black coffee so can't comment much more
Don't know why this place doesn't have a better rating because I really liked it. Lack of plugs was a down for me. Coffee was amazing though.
Platform 7 second shop opened on Broadway and it’s a pretty busy shop at all times of the day. The shops vibe is busier that their first shop on Hastings I would say. But the décor is very similar to the first shop. It was difficult for me to decide what to get. Do I stick with the usual latte or cappuccino for a nice Instagram picture? Or do I go with a drip coffee or maybe something different like a cold brew coffee? At the end of the day, I decided on something that they don’t usually offer at coffee shops which is a Stumptown Milkshake which consists of 2 shots of espresso, vanilla ice cream and vanilla syrup.
Brewing Portland's Stumptown Coffee, Platform 7 has more of a corner shop or neighbourhood coffee shop feel compared to Vancouver's more prevalent brand of hip, minimalist, and more contemporary designs.
I’d just wrapped up lunch over at Ramen Sanpachi and was walking home, when my sweet tooth decided to take over. This happens once in a while… daily really. I get an uncontrollable urge that needs to be satiated one way or another, and a coffee in this case sounded like it would hit just the spot. Not wanting to go to a boring Starbucks, I remembered Platform 7 had just opened up their 2nd location in Kits which took over the former Higher Grounds coffee shop just down the street from me. The decision was made, and the sugar monster within was on auto pilot.

With today's rain, I made my way out to get some work done before the gloom and doom trapped me into taking multiple naps (as is life when it is so dreary here in Vancouver). Read some pretty food reviews about this place and the concept of the train station really caught my eye!
Came in around 5pm and it was pretty busy but managed to snag a spot at the window bar. They serve Stumptown Coffee here (from Portland) which was a nice surprise as I've always wanted to try it.
I like their menu - easy to read with the different types of beans you can pick. The barista was friendly and very helpful in helping me figure out what method I wanted my coffee to be brewed in. He gave me a pretty comprehensive description of each of the methods (vs at some places they just tell you the name of the method without explaining what that means) AND he was knowledgeable enough to tell me what difference that made in the actual coffee brew itself. Super helpful! After being overwhelmed by all the different methods, he helped me pick a happy medium between the types so that I could try something right in the middle. I opted for the Costa Rica bean, brewed with the Hario V60 (a japanese siphon method I believe).
The store itself is super cute! The back portion is very train station like with arched trusses along the ceiling and each truss has sort of been made into a light box so it's very bright. There's booth seating along one wall which has some cute wooden slat benches and GIANT table tops. (Perhaps make some new friends and share one of the booths with a stranger? :P)
My one reason for the 4.5 rating would be that while that back half of the store is nice and bright, the front of the store (albeit the half with windows) is soooo dark - there is barely any lighting in that part of the store, and the little lights they have over the window bar really doesn't produce much in terms of brightness. I felt like it was a little awkwardly dark, not just for working but even if you were to meet up with someone - the contrast of light between the front and back of the store is a bit strange.
I will definitely be back though! Maybe on a sunnier day when I can take full advantage of the giant windows they have!
