[4.5/5] As a seafood lover, I couldn't resist how good the yellow eye rockfish ($18) and the octopus & pork belly ($21) sound - both new on the menu. The chef's primitive-psychedelic design shows , as the components are arranged similarly on the plates. The rockfish came in big succulent chunks, with perfectly cooked potatoes for a nice softer texture contrast, as well as soft flour tortilla as the vessel. The octopus is paired with pork belly and the marriage is a fun and flavourful one. I just couldn't get over how vibrant and tasty the dishes were, and my Mexican guest was genuinely impressed as well. Seemingly rustic, the dishes have a great level of elegance and refinement.
Dining with a friend who is vegan, I was impressed, at this high-end contemporary Mexican restaurant, that the waiter could simply point out how to make a number of the share plates on offer into vegan options. So, we tried all four of them! The flavours here are subtle but nice. The ceviche with pumpkin (or was it cactus?) was unusual, and tasty. Guacamole is such a cliché dish so I don't know how they managed to pump so much flavour into it. This was a great guac. Served up with deep-fried tortilla chips, it was great. The roasted cauliflower was beautifully blackened and served with sliced almonds and a sort of tomato sauce, and finally a red rice dish, also with a grilled avocado and greens, was nice. It was actually slightly too much for us to eat, and along with my Michelada cocktail, the bill only came to $80 including tip, which seemed to me rather inexpensive for what you got. I give this a high recommendation.
It’s great to be in a place which seems to have a lot of different varieties to for vegetarian / vegan.
Tried out the guacamole, grilled cactus and grilled cauliflower. All were great and it was refreshing to have a different taste.
Highly recommended for taste but it could be heavy on the pocket.
