Great staff, excellent food and drink, really affordable prices - what more do you want fer chrissakes? Go get you some!
Greasy spoon diner in the heart of the Main Street area. We came here for breakfast. Cornbread is soft and moist. Skillet and egg dishes were very heavy and quite greasy, still, we enjoyed it. The short ribs were quickly devours and loved by my friend. I ordered the ribs benny, the meat was chewy and entire dish quite heavy. I'd try the salmon benny instead. Service is a little slow and not as approachable as other establishments. Small space but still had to catch the eye of the server.
This is a neat little local place where I had dinner with family while in town last week. It's small and a little on the dark side, but quite friendly.
Service was very good - courteous and fast. No wait for seating or drinks and only minimal wait from the kitchen once the orders were placed.
While the menu is somewhat limited, the food was good. Excellent burgers and a Cuban sandwich that was as good as I've had anywhere. Topped with outstanding fresh sessions local brews on tap, it checks all the boxes for me.
The price was also very reasonable- less than $50 including tip and bar bill. The combination of value and quality makes it an excellent choice if you're in the area.
A great brunch spot on main. The restaurant is cozy and has a cute vintage feel to it. It can get crowded at peak brunch hours, but it's worth the wait. The service was very good and the food was yummy.
Trust me when I say that it is hard to find a breakfast place in the city that takes reservations, let alone one for 13 people. A fact I find odd considering this would be 13 guaranteed paid for plates, on an otherwise gamble of a service. Especially on a Wednesday morning at 10am. Calling every breakfast place I could think of eventually yielded “Slickity Jim’s”. They checked off all my boxes for a workplace breakfast that was something different, and more importantly not a chain like an “IHOP” or “Denny’s”. I wanted to treat my colleagues to somewhere nice, somewhere they might not get to go otherwise. This may not have been my first choice, but one just as great in their unique theme and one of a kind take on breakfast. Plus the price was right $9-$12 a plate.
Quirky and charming place. Great service - fast and friendly. So many options with something for everyone. Delicious and fresh food. Creative options with unusual (yet delicious) combinations! Will be back!
Pictured: The Chez Fe hash is a hit at Slickity Jim’s. Fall apart short ribs, crisp potatoes, and the generous serving of chimichurri sauce really complements and adds balance an otherwise heavy dish. I also enjoyed their homemade key lime pie while I was there. The inside was very quaint and cozy with the most interesting wall decorations!
Splendid eggs Benedict, with lots of different options to choose from. The hash browns are great too, as they are covered in fragrant herbs like thyme.
My kind of relaxing is having brunch with my friend on the weekend. We headed to Slickity Jim’s Chat n’ Chew and it was no surprise that there was a line up. There were other eager eaters like myself who woke up early to brunch! The wait was at least 30 minutes for us as we wanted to be seated with a table and not the bar area. Initially, we thought there were only a few tables at the front of the restaurant, but there’s a hidden passage that leads to the back with a few more tables!
Delicious and creative breakfast joint. Got there quite early and was able to sit right away but definitely would have had to wait in line if I had gotten there later.
Really creative brunch menu. Will have to come again to try more of the items.
Quick and cheap brunch/comfort food. Although lineup are usually long during peak hours and the seats are a tad bit uncomfortable, the food is decent and definitely inexpensive. 'Je suis un petit canard' is my dish suggestion if it is your first time going. Happy eating!
Tried another new place for Sunday brunch. Slickity Jim's is on Main Street. Far size narrow restaurant that's open until 2:30pm.
Get there early! We arrived around 11am and didn't get seated till 11:30am. Long wait but food was delicious!
I had the Huevos Rancheros. It's a big helping loaded that was actually enough for 2 people. We also ordered the short rib Benny, ham & cheddar omelett and breakfast burger.
Also ordered the pancakes. They were more like crepes than pancakes. But we still enjoyed them.
Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was lively. Must try spot! You won't be disappointed.
Decent place for brunch. Would go back, but would not get the short rib breakfast sandwich. No salt and no taste to the chimichurri. Potatoes good, caesar good, cute interior.
Always a good meal at Slickity Jim's. I got the corn bread with scramble and chili. Yummm! The wait was about 15-20 min during peak lunch hour, which isn't bad. Usually we just kill time taking turns browsing Welk's. Great service here too.

SLICKITY JIM'S CHEW & CHAT
This place has the look of being there forever. Today, we parked across the street and noticed them. After checking out the menu, we got one of those parking stall picnic benches by the road. Under the tree and umbrella, 26°º with a decent breeze, it pleasant enough. We ordered salmon benny, one with add-on prosciutto. The prosciutto was quite salty, but improved the taste of the smoked salmon. The coating on the roasted potatoes was disgusting and left a bad taste in my mouth – powdered garlic or onion – not easily wiped out with a cup of coffee. We appreciated being able to choose the softness of the poached eggs (as some restaurants assume everyone is ok with soft poached). The servers were friendly and service excellent. I think they need at least one more sun umbrella.
Traditional version:
You were my first love
Brought me under your wing
Taught me to love the rain
And diners slinging eggs “n” bacon
Coffee cups never empty
You look so good at sunset
With those two lions on the horizon
A modern Cuban take:
You were my first love
Bought me all the stuff
Taught me not to rain in
And diners spend on eggs “n” save our bacon
Coffee Cups with eggs like Humpty Dumpty
We all look so good after two (‘o clock)
With those aprons hung up on the blue horizon - vanilla sky.
Went here for breakfast. Cozy little 'greasy spoon' diner that really kicks itself above the greasy spoon label. The dining room is covered in tchohkes, and the interior feels like a cozy basement. True to the name, there was a good crowd chatting it up when we arrived and the atmosphere was very homey. The menu offers both simple breakfast fare and interesting creative takes that I wouldn't mind diving into someday.
I had a scrambled egg sandwich with smoked salmon (and other typical fixings) on an English muffin that was a real winner. It came with a surprisingly tasty greens salad that you don't really expect with breakfast, but complimented the fishy sandwich nicely, and hand to God, then best damn hash browns I've ever eaten. My partner had eggs Benny with the eggs so beautifully and perfectly poached that it felt like a shame to actually eat them. Also at this place, they definitely like their hollondaise sauce lemony with a good tang to it.
Delicious food and friendly staff. The drinks were well made and the food was even better. Their price point beats all of the other breakfast spots I've been to in the city and can gladly say that I'll be making this a regularly visited weekend breakfast spot. I got the Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast and the flavours were all complimenting and delicious.
