This place is a huge guilty pleasure! Went for a cheesesteak and then walked about 15 blocks to ease our conscience, but it was well worth it! Great prices and to-die-for food.

It's really hard to impress me with a sandwich but this is amazing. I found out that they opened a small counter in Metrotown near by the movie theatre, but I would definitely recommend going into the official shop in Downtown Vancouver. Their selection of sandwiches is nice, very spacious, and the food is so good my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

It's been awhile since last eating here. Still a great place for awesome PHILLY CHEESE sandwiches. Some great varieties like the korean or the cowboy.
If you can, go see for yourself.

I thought that we were going to be moving away from an abundance of bread and cheese... But I guess that isn’t quite the case when there’s cheesesteak sandwiches on the menu! I had been looking forward to trying The American Cheesesteak Co. ever since seeing it on season 2 of You Gotta Eat Here! and I finally got my chance. You’ll find it downtown in a happening area full of many restaurants. This place is the late Chef Anthony Sedlak’s restaurant.

We popped in on a Friday night and I was a little bit surprised that it wasn’t busier. They run a casual system where you order at the counter and then go to sit wherever you want. The space is a modern take on “fast food” with white-painted exposed brick and plenty of chrome. I especially liked the pop art style pieces on the walls.

We approached the counter and looked over the selection of nine different cheesesteaks; some traditional and some specialty. A cheesesteak is a type of sandwich that was invented in Philadelphia, hence the name “Philly cheesesteak.” The main components include shaved prime rib grilled up with melty cheese, served on a hoagie-style bun. This was the first place selling them in Vancouver.

They serve beer and milkshakes, but I simply chose a Dad’s Rootbeer ($3.00). They also offer some interesting sides beyond the typical french fries, which include deep fried pickles and poutine. We easily went for the ACC Fries (Tossed in garlic butter + parmesan - $4.50) which sounded delicious. A pleasant staff member took our order and then we found a table to sit at. They boast that their fries have been triple fried for the perfect crispy texture. And they sure looked amazing! I liked the golden crispiness of the fries but I also found them a little bit dry. The flavour of these wasn’t as exciting as I had hoped. The parmesan was nice but the garlic butter didn’t really come through.

The main event, of course, was the cheesesteak. I knew that I wanted the Bigshot (Sautéed wild mushrooms, provolone, truffle aioli, crispy onions - $13.00) from the Specialty section right away. They also sell interesting takes on a Korean bulgogi and Vietnamese bánh mì that I would be interested to try. To me, this sounded like the best way to enjoy a cheesesteak by far. However, I noticed some discrepancies. This particular sandwich was also featured on You Gotta Eat Here! and the ingredients used on the show (in 2013) seemed to be somewhat different/better than what is currently offered in the restaurant today. On the show, the sandwich was made with a mix of crimini, oyster, and king mushrooms, waygu beef, fontina cheese, truffle mayonnaise, and fried shallots. (Sounds incredible, am I right?!) It doesn’t seem that wagyu is on the docket anymore, nor the fontina. None the less, this cheesesteak was very good. And giant!! The bread was warm, soft, and crusty, but not too bready. I can’t confirm what types of mushrooms are being used currently, but they were tender and tasty, a perfect compliment to the truffle aioli. Speaking of the truffle aioli, its big truffle flavour was my favourite part of the whole sandwich - delicious! The cheese was mild and melty and the onions were crispy and abundant. And then of course the beef itself was very good. Savoury and tender, it was cooked to perfection and was the star of the show. I would easily order this again.

Lastly, they have a special dessert called Coney Island Frozen Custard, so we had a single scoop ($5.00) of that. What makes it different from ice cream is that it’s made with eggs. We got the french vanilla flavour (classic) and it was nice. Very creamy and bursting with bright vanilla flavour.

I enjoyed this place. The sandwiches are legit good and they are doing Philly cheesesteak right. While I was a tad underwhelmed in some areas, they have other things on the menu that I look forward to trying out.

I got the new yorker and the ACC fries. Delicious! Although I thought the sandwich could use slightly more seasoning to really kick it up to the next level.

Tried this spot out after seeing it on You Gotta Eat Here. Ordered the Cowboy, the Big Shot, ACC Fries and a Salted Caramel Frozen Custard Milkshake. The Cowboy was the the main sandwich shown on Y.G.E.H and consisted of: aged cheddar, homemade spicy bbq sauce, bacon mayo + crispy onions. The taste was great - a touch heavier on the bread than I would like but that is an extremely minor gripe. The Big Shot consisted of: sautéed wild mushrooms, provolone, truffle aioli, crispy onions. The Big Shot was my favorite of the two however it was a very tight race. The ACC fries looked and sounded amazing but fell short taste wise. They lacked salt, which all good fries need and the garlic butter and Parmesan flavor didn't really come through at all despite them looking picture perfect. I did opt for a side of truffle aioli to dip them in which did help. Lastly, the last minute decision I made to order a salted caramel custard milkshake was the best decision I made - it was incredibly delicious! It had a classic salted caramel flavor and a creamy custardy consistency. I would go back for that milkshake alone it was so good!

I love this place. It's great with a beer and they have real 20oz pints. It's clean, friendly, and not super quick but that's because it's all made fresh I like the regular philly with deep fried pickles on the side

This place has potential and with pride right around the corner, they are gonna make alot of money. With every new concept, a buisness will need to work out kinks and additions to the menu. I met one of the owners/managers and he was really nice. His name is Andy. It use to be co-owned by Canadian network food star chef Anthony Sedlak. May he rest in peace... Amazing person with energy and passion. He was born and raised in bc, and also enrolled into a culinary arts program at my old high school in North Vancouver. His legacy lives on here at Davie.

We ordered the classic philly, with mushroom gravy in it. We wanted to experiment lol, and why not right? It's fun! It's delicious. I totally recommend adding gravy. It elevated the classic. Then the cowboy, wow just gorgeous, loved the bbq sauce. And last the new yorker, very delicious! The environment is hip and fun. It's got a very American feel to it. The patio has alot of space. There's plenty of room to tie your dog out front. I was told that they just opened up a new location at metrotown. Pretty cool. I would come back for that cowboy and new yorker. It's delicious.

There's too many hotdogs in this city, try a cheese steak.!

The American Cheesesteak Co. has been around for several years now and is a local restaurant that is dedicated to serving authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks.   It was co-owned by the late Canadian Food Network star, Anthony Sedlak, who passed away not long after the restaurant opened.  Despite this tragedy when the business was just starting, American Cheesesteak Co. remains a foodie hotspot at 781 Davie Street and is now expanding to a second location to be opened in Metrotown.  I dined at American Cheesesteak Co. twice over the last few years and here is a review of my experiences.

Oh. My. If you love tender prime rib, cheese, crispy little fried onions, spicy BBQ sauce, and some bacon Mayo on top of a freshly baked hoagie bun...go no further.

I picked up "The Cowboy" with Tammy, and also got their chicken strips and Fries with dip. Their chicken strips rival White Spot's, and beat A&W's. I'm a huge chicken strip / nugget fanatic so I know my chicken. The dipping sauce I got was a sriracha Mayo, and it is on point!

I didn't get a chance to snap a picture but dear lord it was worth all the pain of being gluten and lactose intolerant! I'll be back for sure! One of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted.

Located on the 2nd floor, right under Cineplex and close to Winners store. I bumped into this cozy little place a few days ago. I tried their bestsellers, The New Yorker & The Cowboy. Both were super yummy. The meat was juicy, just the right temperature and the sauce was, ohhhhh, so good!! The quantity is a bang-for-the-buck. They even have a good seating area, sufficient for at least 10 folks. The music adds to the chill ambience of the place. The attendants were extremely courteous. Must try for meat lovers. I am definitely coming back for sure. Highly recommended!!

Lucky to have found this hidden Gem. When it comes to Sandwiches we don't have many good option in Vancouver let alone Philly classic Cheesesteak. It has one of the best one i ever tried and i did try the authentic ones back in Philadelphia. Perfect combination, I tried his New Yorker, extra yummy with high-quality prime beef steak, made fresh to perfection. Will drive back and try again. Well Worth it!

That's THE chef who created all sandwiches in The American Cheeseteak Company in Metrotown. He prepared one of his signature sammys that he would usually offer only in December, a Japanese Style cheesesteak for us: wagyu beef, with ponzu sauce, mushrooms, onion, cheese, gently caramelized it all with a handheld butane torch after and then drizzled with Wasabi mayo, topped with some seaweed and sesame seeds. I tasted layers of flavors, starting with a smokiness from the light charring, then the sweetness from the onions and ponzu, the Wagyu beef, juicy from his expert searing and finally, the wasabi mayo that tied in the cheese and mushroom flavors together. He said that he'll be there all summer long so we will definitely come back for more!

I was so happy with my meal I got today. We had their classic and NY steak sandwiches. As usual it was hot, flavourful, cheesy and, juicy. Made with perfection and care! Definately will be coming back again for our cheesesteak sandwich cravings. Try their onion rings, so good... HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Located right below Metropolis at Metrotown mall's Cineplex theatre (by the stairs). Only 2 tables open for dine-in, but feel free to order take-out or delivery. My order: -Japanese Style Cheesesteak: my personal favourite - juicy sautéed mushrooms & onions, aged cheddar, wasabi mayo and of course premium ribeye steak slices. It’s saucy, and the cheese blend enhances the flavour. -Koagie (Korean Hoagie): Kimchi was good (not too sour or spicy), so I could comfortably eat it. -New Yorker: the classic if you don't want to venture away from a "normal Philly cheesesteak" - topped with fresh tomatoes and lettuce Overall, the hoagie roll was soft on the inside, and a good chewy texture on the outside. I reheated mines in the microwave, and it still tasted good several hours later. These cheeseteaks are more saucy than the traditional cheesesteaks, which I personally enjoyed as every bite was filled with flavour. Very filling - best to share if you want to try different flavours. I also really liked their assortment of cheeses (no fake Cheez-Whiz stuff, sorry if you like that though), I think they use aged cheddar, provolone, and some others in a cheese blend. They definitely don't cheap out, and use a generous portion of tender/sliced prime rib steak. All cheesesteaks are made-to-order on a grill when you place your order. -Onion Rings: skinny-style -Deep Fried Pickles: good thick cut of pickles to breading ratio -ACC Fries (Garlic Butter & Parmesan): classic thick cut fries with a very "potato-y" flavour -White Chocolate Blueberry Milkshake: quite sweet, definitely for people that have a sweet tooth Also, I definitely have to mention the house-made sauces, they're so good for dipping the onion rings, pickles, and fries (cheesesteaks were saucy enough, so I didn't need it there). My personal favourites were the roasted garlic aioli, smoke Chipotle BBQ (not to overpowering or salty), and mustard (real mustard seeds).

Today, my husband and I tried their "Koagie." We were passing by, and their sandwich pictures on the screen locked very appealing after walking around the mall. The Koagie has Bulgogi beef and kimchi that were topped up with a kimchi mayo! The beef was tender, and the kimchi was sour and not too spicy. The bun was toasted, and there were also some sautéed onions and red peppers. Overall, it was a very tasty sandwich. I will have to come back to try their other items!
