Review American Cheese Steak - Vancouver

Harshit Sharma
Located on the 2nd floor, right under Cineplex and close to Winners store. I bumped into this cozy little place a few days ago. I tried their bestsellers, The New Yorker & The Cowboy. Both were super yummy. The meat was juicy, just the right temperature and the sauce was, ohhhhh, so good!! The quantity is a bang-for-the-buck. They even have a good seating area, sufficient for at least 10 folks. The music adds to the chill ambience of the place. The attendants were extremely courteous. Must try for meat lovers. I am definitely coming back for sure. Highly recommended!!

Lucky to have found this hidden Gem. When it comes to Sandwiches we don't have many good option in Vancouver let alone Philly classic Cheesesteak. It has one of the best one i ever tried and i did try the authentic ones back in Philadelphia. Perfect combination, I tried his New Yorker, extra yummy with high-quality prime beef steak, made fresh to perfection. Will drive back and try again. Well Worth it!

That's THE chef who created all sandwiches in The American Cheeseteak Company in Metrotown. He prepared one of his signature sammys that he would usually offer only in December, a Japanese Style cheesesteak for us: wagyu beef, with ponzu sauce, mushrooms, onion, cheese, gently caramelized it all with a handheld butane torch after and then drizzled with Wasabi mayo, topped with some seaweed and sesame seeds. I tasted layers of flavors, starting with a smokiness from the light charring, then the sweetness from the onions and ponzu, the Wagyu beef, juicy from his expert searing and finally, the wasabi mayo that tied in the cheese and mushroom flavors together. He said that he'll be there all summer long so we will definitely come back for more!

I was so happy with my meal I got today. We had their classic and NY steak sandwiches. As usual it was hot, flavourful, cheesy and, juicy. Made with perfection and care! Definately will be coming back again for our cheesesteak sandwich cravings. Try their onion rings, so good... HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Located right below Metropolis at Metrotown mall's Cineplex theatre (by the stairs). Only 2 tables open for dine-in, but feel free to order take-out or delivery. My order: -Japanese Style Cheesesteak: my personal favourite - juicy sautéed mushrooms & onions, aged cheddar, wasabi mayo and of course premium ribeye steak slices. It’s saucy, and the cheese blend enhances the flavour. -Koagie (Korean Hoagie): Kimchi was good (not too sour or spicy), so I could comfortably eat it. -New Yorker: the classic if you don't want to venture away from a "normal Philly cheesesteak" - topped with fresh tomatoes and lettuce Overall, the hoagie roll was soft on the inside, and a good chewy texture on the outside. I reheated mines in the microwave, and it still tasted good several hours later. These cheeseteaks are more saucy than the traditional cheesesteaks, which I personally enjoyed as every bite was filled with flavour. Very filling - best to share if you want to try different flavours. I also really liked their assortment of cheeses (no fake Cheez-Whiz stuff, sorry if you like that though), I think they use aged cheddar, provolone, and some others in a cheese blend. They definitely don't cheap out, and use a generous portion of tender/sliced prime rib steak. All cheesesteaks are made-to-order on a grill when you place your order. -Onion Rings: skinny-style -Deep Fried Pickles: good thick cut of pickles to breading ratio -ACC Fries (Garlic Butter & Parmesan): classic thick cut fries with a very "potato-y" flavour -White Chocolate Blueberry Milkshake: quite sweet, definitely for people that have a sweet tooth Also, I definitely have to mention the house-made sauces, they're so good for dipping the onion rings, pickles, and fries (cheesesteaks were saucy enough, so I didn't need it there). My personal favourites were the roasted garlic aioli, smoke Chipotle BBQ (not to overpowering or salty), and mustard (real mustard seeds).

Newyorker steake was Very Delicious. Resturant is in Burnaby, Merotown mall, second floor. Can't wait to go back with my family very soon 😃

Disappointing experience. I used to enjoy the location on Davie before it closed a long time ago, but the cheesesteak I had from the Metrotown location was bland and dry. Bread isn't very fresh. Ordered ACC fries and didn't see until I got home that I was given regular fries, but it wasn't worth going back. If you do go and get take out, check your food before you go.

Today, my husband and I tried their "Koagie." We were passing by, and their sandwich pictures on the screen locked very appealing after walking around the mall. The Koagie has Bulgogi beef and kimchi that were topped up with a kimchi mayo! The beef was tender, and the kimchi was sour and not too spicy. The bun was toasted, and there were also some sautéed onions and red peppers. Overall, it was a very tasty sandwich. I will have to come back to try their other items!

This place is a huge guilty pleasure! Went for a cheesesteak and then walked about 15 blocks to ease our conscience, but it was well worth it! Great prices and to-die-for food.

We love this place. The food is great, the service is stellar A happy regular!

You can feel the passion the staff have for their clients and the food. The steak sandwiches were fantastic! The price for the "Philly" was worth it. The steak was tender and had a "taste" of it's own...right amount of cheese and couldn't beat the bun! I can't remember the last time I bit into a steak sandwich and the meat was still "hot"....great location...good parking....you gotta try the place. It's as close to the true Philly cheese steak as you can get unless you are in NE Philadelphia! Way to go! Can't wait to get back....long drive from Langely...but it is worth it!
Craig Mawhinney
Ate there today for the first time was so friggin good!!! I will definitely become a regular.

Saw this on "You gotta eat here!" And you definitely do!! Had the Bigshot and it was amazing! Tons of meat and cheese - love, love this place!!

Awesome food you really "gotta eat here" I had the Philly cheesesteak by far the best I ever had
Dennis Hiebert
Service a little slow, the meal was worth the wait
Wes Landen
Amazing Cheesesteaks and onion rings, service is good as well😀
Jon Wolfond
Had the cheesesteak the other night. Unreal. I SWEAR it wasn't just because it was 3AM.
Chad Wood
You want to eat something fast and fill you up until tomorrow? Eat here! So darn tasty and filling!!
Steve Raven
Best cheesesteaks around with out a doubt. But you need more locations, 1 is not enough. Come to the pitt meadows/ maple ridge area. I will pack the place for you

Amazing food. Great customer service. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a casual, fast food place located on Davie Street specializing in Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. They offer several variations  of this sandwich; during my visit, I sampled their Kaogie and Big Shot. The food did take a while (about 20 minutes) to prepare, but I thought that it was worth the wait: the sandwiches were fantastic. While they weren't particularly large in size, they are overstuffed with a tremendous amount of meat, and quite filling. I actually ended up finishing both of mine in one sitting (I've got a freakish appetite), but I do think that one sandwich and a side is probably more than sufficient to an average person. I do think that their prices are pretty steep - however, I do prefer their food over places like Meat & Bread.<br/><br/>Kaogie AKA Korean Hoagie ($13):<br/>4/5<br/>This contained prime rib, american cheese, kimchi, sauteed onions, peppers, and spicy miso mayo. The sandwich, although not particularly large, was filled with a very generous amount of filling. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of beef, the meat here was very tender and juicy, and had a wonderful richness when mixed with the american cheese. The kimchi and spicy miso mayo blended very well together, and provided a tremendous amount of flavour. The bread itself was soft, slightly chewy and lightly toasted. This is quite a wet sandwich, and the juices and sauces tended to soak through the bread - I ended up using quite a few napkins to get through this.<br/><br/>Big Shot ($13):<br/>3.5/5<br/>This sandwich contained prime rib with wild mushrooms, provolone, truffle aioli and crispy onions. Once again there was a tremendous amount of filling. I absolutely loved the mushrooms and truffle oil, which provided a great fragrance. The crispy onions also had a great flavour as well as texture. With the absence of sauce, I did find the beef to be a bit bland, although it was still very tender and juicy. This sandwich was considerably drier compared to the Kaogie and much less messy to eat.<br/><br/>Summary:<br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Price: 2.5/5<br/>Service: N/A<br/>Overall: 3.5/5<br/>Recommendations: Koagie

It's really hard to impress me with a sandwich but this is amazing. I found out that they opened a small counter in Metrotown near by the movie theatre, but I would definitely recommend going into the official shop in Downtown Vancouver. Their selection of sandwiches is nice, very spacious, and the food is so good my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

It's been awhile since last eating here. Still a great place for awesome PHILLY CHEESE sandwiches. Some great varieties like the korean or the cowboy.<br/>If you can, go see for yourself.

Heard a lot about their “thick” milkshakes so went to get one. I ordered the salted caramel one and it cost me freaking $8.60 to which I thought “what the heck it’s going to be good” the lady at the till basically put two tiny scoops of frozen custard and milk, blended it and gave it to me with no whip cream whatsoever which I can see in a few pics on here. I basically paid $8.60 for salted caramel MILK the shake wasn’t thick in any way like their menu states. This shows how inconsistent their quality is and how lazy the staff is. Won’t be going here again.

I thought that we were going to be moving away from an abundance of bread and cheese... But I guess that isn’t quite the case when there’s cheesesteak sandwiches on the menu! I had been looking forward to trying The American Cheesesteak Co. ever since seeing it on season 2 of You Gotta Eat Here! and I finally got my chance. You’ll find it downtown in a happening area full of many restaurants. This place is the late Chef Anthony Sedlak’s restaurant.<br/><br/>We popped in on a Friday night and I was a little bit surprised that it wasn’t busier. They run a casual system where you order at the counter and then go to sit wherever you want. The space is a modern take on “fast food” with white-painted exposed brick and plenty of chrome. I especially liked the pop art style pieces on the walls.<br/><br/>We approached the counter and looked over the selection of nine different cheesesteaks; some traditional and some specialty. A cheesesteak is a type of sandwich that was invented in Philadelphia, hence the name “Philly cheesesteak.” The main components include shaved prime rib grilled up with melty cheese, served on a hoagie-style bun. This was the first place selling them in Vancouver.<br/><br/>They serve beer and milkshakes, but I simply chose a Dad’s Rootbeer ($3.00). They also offer some interesting sides beyond the typical french fries, which include deep fried pickles and poutine. We easily went for the ACC Fries (Tossed in garlic butter + parmesan - $4.50) which sounded delicious. A pleasant staff member took our order and then we found a table to sit at. They boast that their fries have been triple fried for the perfect crispy texture. And they sure looked amazing! I liked the golden crispiness of the fries but I also found them a little bit dry. The flavour of these wasn’t as exciting as I had hoped. The parmesan was nice but the garlic butter didn’t really come through.<br/><br/>The main event, of course, was the cheesesteak. I knew that I wanted the Bigshot (Sautéed wild mushrooms, provolone, truffle aioli, crispy onions - $13.00) from the Specialty section right away. They also sell interesting takes on a Korean bulgogi and Vietnamese bánh mì that I would be interested to try. To me, this sounded like the best way to enjoy a cheesesteak by far. However, I noticed some discrepancies. This particular sandwich was also featured on You Gotta Eat Here! and the ingredients used on the show (in 2013) seemed to be somewhat different/better than what is currently offered in the restaurant today. On the show, the sandwich was made with a mix of crimini, oyster, and king mushrooms, waygu beef, fontina cheese, truffle mayonnaise, and fried shallots. (Sounds incredible, am I right?!) It doesn’t seem that wagyu is on the docket anymore, nor the fontina. None the less, this cheesesteak was very good. And giant!! The bread was warm, soft, and crusty, but not too bready. I can’t confirm what types of mushrooms are being used currently, but they were tender and tasty, a perfect compliment to the truffle aioli. Speaking of the truffle aioli, its big truffle flavour was my favourite part of the whole sandwich - delicious! The cheese was mild and melty and the onions were crispy and abundant. And then of course the beef itself was very good. Savoury and tender, it was cooked to perfection and was the star of the show. I would easily order this again.<br/><br/>Lastly, they have a special dessert called Coney Island Frozen Custard, so we had a single scoop ($5.00) of that. What makes it different from ice cream is that it’s made with eggs. We got the french vanilla flavour (classic) and it was nice. Very creamy and bursting with bright vanilla flavour.<br/><br/>I enjoyed this place. The sandwiches are legit good and they are doing Philly cheesesteak right. While I was a tad underwhelmed in some areas, they have other things on the menu that I look forward to trying out.

I got the new yorker and the ACC fries. Delicious! Although I thought the sandwich could use slightly more seasoning to really kick it up to the next level.
David
Very good, very fresh.   No complaints.   Everyone at table was satisfied with their selections.  The service was quick and courteous.

Tried this spot out after seeing it on You Gotta Eat Here. Ordered the Cowboy, the Big Shot, ACC Fries and a Salted Caramel Frozen Custard Milkshake. The Cowboy was the the main sandwich shown on Y.G.E.H and consisted of: aged cheddar, homemade spicy bbq sauce, bacon mayo + crispy onions. The taste was great - a touch heavier on the bread than I would like but that is an extremely minor gripe. The Big Shot consisted of: sautéed wild mushrooms, provolone, truffle aioli, crispy onions. The Big Shot was my favorite of the two however it was a very tight race. The ACC fries looked and sounded amazing but fell short taste wise. They lacked salt, which all good fries need and the garlic butter and Parmesan flavor didn't really come through at all despite them looking picture perfect. I did opt for a side of truffle aioli to dip them in which did help. Lastly, the last minute decision I made to order a salted caramel custard milkshake was the best decision I made - it was incredibly delicious! It had a classic salted caramel flavor and a creamy custardy consistency. I would go back for that milkshake alone it was so good!
Justine
The cheesesteaks are pretty good, they have quite a variety as well. I found that you're paying a lot for what you're getting but if it's a cheesesteak that you're looking for, this place is worth a try. The ice cream that they sell is very good and it looks like they custom make their flavours.

I love this place. It's great with a beer and they have real 20oz pints. It's clean, friendly, and not super quick but that's because it's all made fresh I like the regular philly with deep fried pickles on the side

This place has potential and with pride right around the corner, they are gonna make alot of money. With every new concept, a buisness will need to work out kinks and additions to the menu. I met one of the owners/managers and he was really nice. His name is Andy. It use to be co-owned by Canadian network food star chef Anthony Sedlak. May he rest in peace... Amazing person with energy and passion. He was born and raised in bc, and also enrolled into a culinary arts program at my old high school in North Vancouver. His legacy lives on here at Davie.<br/><br/>We ordered the classic philly, with mushroom gravy in it. We wanted to experiment lol, and why not right? It's fun! It's delicious. I totally recommend adding gravy. It elevated the classic. Then the cowboy, wow just gorgeous, loved the bbq sauce. And last the new yorker, very delicious! The environment is hip and fun. It's got a very American feel to it. The patio has alot of space. There's plenty of room to tie your dog out front. I was told that they just opened up a new location at metrotown. Pretty cool. I would come back for that cowboy and new yorker. It's delicious.<br/><br/>There's too many hotdogs in this city, try a cheese steak.!

June 21st, 2016<br/><br/>Drop by American Cheesestake after work after seeing so many good reviews about their subs. We ordered the Classic Cheesesteak and the Philly Cheesesteak. Only difference was mushrooms. It was pretty tasty, but I think it was slightly dry. Extra juices on the side would of been nice, but that would make it a beef dip/baron of beef.
Kelly Yee
I ordered the classic cheesesteak and that comes with mushrooms, cheese and onions for $11.00. It wasn't anything special to me, just tasted of a soft warm bun with some beef meat. There wasn't much of mushroom or cheese(chedder). I thought it was a little expensive for $11.00 but after eating it, I guess the price is alright. I probably wouldn't choose to eat here again other than if someone else suggested it.<br/><br/>While eating it, I felt as if this hoagie could have used some Au Ju, it was pretty dry. But that would be a Beef dip, not a cheesesteak.

The American Cheesesteak Co. has been around for several years now and is a local restaurant that is dedicated to serving authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks.   It was co-owned by the late Canadian Food Network star, Anthony Sedlak, who passed away not long after the restaurant opened.  Despite this tragedy when the business was just starting, American Cheesesteak Co. remains a foodie hotspot at 781 Davie Street and is now expanding to a second location to be opened in Metrotown.  I dined at American Cheesesteak Co. twice over the last few years and here is a review of my experiences.

Oh. My. If you love tender prime rib, cheese, crispy little fried onions, spicy BBQ sauce, and some bacon Mayo on top of a freshly baked hoagie bun...go no further.<br/><br/>I picked up "The Cowboy" with Tammy, and also got their chicken strips and Fries with dip. Their chicken strips rival White Spot's, and beat A&W's. I'm a huge chicken strip / nugget fanatic so I know my chicken. The dipping sauce I got was a sriracha Mayo, and it is on point!<br/><br/>I didn't get a chance to snap a picture but dear lord it was worth all the pain of being gluten and lactose intolerant! I'll be back for sure! One of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted.

went here for dine out, and invited a friend to join and glad that she did. anyway, the food on this place, at first i was really excited about this place, but apparently hmmm the items that i order, one of them are the new yorker's and the other one of the selection for the dine out sub, can't remember what's the name and my friend ordered a philly's.<br/><br/>overall i would say the subs are definitely allright, the new yorker is the best out of all the 3 subs that i tried, because of the sauce that they put on it i guess, the roasted garlic sauce was superb. then the philly's is definitely super boring i wouldn't recommend it to eat unless it's for healthier alternative. then, for dine out we get to try a scoop of custard, tried the vanilla, and it's defnitely good even though i don't like sweets usually but i find this one rather good for me. the onion rings are definitely allright as well. but nothing spectacular.

After Dine Out Vancouver 2016 at The American Cheesesteak Company, I had to come back to use my vouchers. Somehow I ended up with three, so happily I managed to get a couple of friends to come with me before they expired at the end of this month. This time around, I decided to try their most basic and traditional Cheesesteak, and chose the Philly ($10, cheese + sauteed onions) with American Cheese. I wanted to know what the fuss was about that started this.
Simon
Overall I feel The American Cheesesteak Company is offering a very good deal during Dine Out Vancouver 2016. Since you get a voucher for $5 off, the net cost is only $15. Even at $20, what you get is a sizable and tasty meal, complete with drink. Even without Dine Out Vancouver, their sandwiches/subs are already about twice the size of a gourmet burger at a comparable price.
Simon
This is actually inside The American Cheesesteak Company, and the person who answers the phone will say so. Also, close to closing time when it's really quiet (even around half an hour or possibly more before closing), they may put the chairs up to clean the floors. THEY ARE STILL OPEN! Try the door and see.

This place nailed it. Located on Davie across Nandos. Decent price, around $12. Pretty filling do come on an empty stomach! Not too greasy. Nom nom.
Vancitydives
If you're a cheesesteak fan and are in Vancouver, you need to check out the American Cheesesteak Co. They have the best cheesesteaks in Vancouver. It takes about ten to fifteen minutes to get your cheesesteak, but the wait is worth it, as the quality is amazing. The prices are pretty cheap as well as the big shot costs 13$. A good price for a hearty cheesesteak. We definitely recommend checking out American Cheesesteak for some really good food!

Service was horrible the 2 ladies has this annoyed face at customers...my order took 20 min even though place was empty I had to go ask for it and she didn't even apologies.<br/><br/>Food was fine but not worth 12 bucks...won't recommend.

These sandwiches are crazy fresh and their prices are affordable, about $12/each for each sandwich I had. Check this place out next time you’re hungry or thirsty…yes, they’re licensed but they also served a selection of bottled sodas.
Drunken Noms
I was supposed to meet a friend over at The Distillery for a drink but hadn’t had dinner yet. I decided to walk from my home in Kits to Yaletown since it was a beautiful day out and figured American Cheesesteak Co. would be an easy option since it was on my way there.  The Italian always gets take-out from them since he lives just across the street so I figured it was my turn. 45 minutes of walking later, I arrived to a mostly empty restaurant. When I walked in there were a couple cooks on my left behind the counter cooking and preparing all the food in front of you. Straight ahead is the cashier who was eager to take my order. I haven’t had too many cheesesteaks in my days and thought I should just stick with an original sandwich to appreciate it in all its glory, but it really sounded quite plain. The Philly is just shaved prime rib and cheese, pretty boring sounding if you ask me. Going through the list I wanted something a bit saucier and so the specialty steaks seemed more up my alley. Being the manly man that I am, I decided to go with  The Cowboy  (shaved prime rib, crispy fried onions, homemade spicy bbq sauce, bacon mayo and aged white cheddar) along with a side of small  Onion Rings . I was a little disappointed they didn’t have any sort of combo offerings for a bit cheaper since you generally want both and maybe even a drink, so the sandwich was $12 while the onion rings were $4. I decided to stick with tap water since even their sodas were $3, a tad expensive if you ask me. I found myself a table to set down my things and went to the self-serve area to pour myself some water. Just to vent about a stupid little thing, this was possibly the most frustrating water container ever. I literally stood there for 2 minutes waiting to fill an average sized glass of water because it poured excruciatingly slow. When I eventually finished my cup of water I was s

Mediocre and overpriced. Mediocre and overpriced for being mediocre. Will not go again.

Worst sandwich. Big fan of sandwiches but the big shot had way too much fried onions... The bun was soggy and soft.. I expected it to be crispy.. Fries wereburnt..<br/>Worst sandwich I've ever had, would not ever go back here.
Chris
Saw on you gotta eat here, read some good reviews so we decided to try. I am writing this mid sandwich to tell you it's great. One of the better Philly cheeses I've ever had. Good fries too. Would recommend.
Cathy
Tasteless sandwiches. And very expensive.

Always amazing. -<br/>Service - 4/5<br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Décor - 4/5<br/>Price - 4/5<br/><br/>I've been here twice now and if I lived closer, it would be much more frequent. The sandwiches are unreal, authentic Philly Cheesesteak with a twist. The buns are fresh and soft, they're generous with the toppings and the beef is like nowhere else, simply delicious. My wife doesn't like steak but loves ACSC!<br/><br/>The fries area double fried so they're crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Decent beer selection too! The staff is friendly and the prices are fair. I highly recommend this place, it's a must.
No Dessert Im Full
Yummy Cheesesteak. There are a bunch of yummy selections here like the Cheesesteaks and there many variations, the hotdogs, and there poutines.<br/><br/>I had the Cowboy cheesesteak it was really good! the shredded prime rib was ultra juicy and the bread super soft, the cheese and the mayo bbq sauce was pretty good on it too! Very heavy and tough to finish lol. The poutine was really good too, more cheese curds though please! The beef on top was really good, solid bites for sure!
Dmvcaly
Awesome authentic Philly cheesesteak. Nuff said go and try one!!!!

One word AMAZING !

Great food .very delicious '!!!

Savor the flavor. Man, this place is great! The quality of everything is undeniable and the attention to detail makes this the BEST sandwich around. I went a couple of days ago and had The Big Shot (sounds impressive and I think only $2 more than the standard sandwich). Great prime rib meat and the mushrooms and melted cheese all blend together for such a nice mouthful of goodness (I just got back from another restaurant now and writing this is still making me want one of these sandwiches). It the list of fine ingredients ended there this would be just a good sandwich. What I think makes it great is the crispy fried onions to give it crunch and more flavor. Finishing little touch: parsley for that missing something. I don't like sauces so the cook suggested to put the truffle aioli on the side. I dipped a couple of my fries (which are above average, tasty and crispy, with skins and a natural potato flavor) in the aioli to try it out. It was good, but not necessary on my sandwich. Overall a must visit. Too bad it's not right on Granville for more exposure. Good meat. Good overall sandwich. Good fries and milkshake.
Big Town
Not returning. Finally got to try this place after walking by so many times, then read a great review about the guy behind this business. Clean, well appointed place. Seating is odd: a few window seats, fixed bar stools, and an oversize communal table dominates the place. I sat at at the tiny bar next to the front door staring at a huge poster stuck to the window: 'hate that. Note to any restaurant: please don't put posters or advertising on your windows especially at eye level; it's simply trashy.<br/>The mushroom cheesesteak sandwich ($11) had an acceptable amount of filler but the beef was mostly gristle that I had to spit out. Lots of bun.<br/>Nice, friendly, informative staff.<br/><br/>The only cheesesteak I really liked in Vancouver was the'Bada-Bing' food truck (RIP) that unfortunately converted to a Shawarma truck last year. So sad. That halal beef melted in your mouth...and that great garlic sauce.<br/>Come back Bada-Bing!
HERU CHA
I'M FROM PHILLY & THESE STEAK ARE OFFICIAL!!!. Ok now you know these are better than some phillysteak spots I grew up around in Northeast Philadelphia! Because their food quality and meat is better. I love the gourmet sandwiches, I tried the Big Shot! With the truffle oil and the crispy fried onions.....amazing!! Again if you never been to Philly or New Jersey (where I was born), if your not a DIE-HARD Eagles fan as I am, and have watch over 20 seasons of the Eagles while eating a cheesesteak please don't claim the American Cheesesteak Co. is not authentic!!! <br/>It's probably the best Cheesesteak place in all of the west coast of North America. Because Seattle and Bellingham place are minute steaks, just like most of the places in Philly! Again the quality makes ALL the DIFFERENCE!! <br/><br/>Will I be back? lol I'm there now!

Damn you John Catucci. Http://www.foodnetwork.ca/ontv/shows/you-gotta-eat-here/locations.html?titleid=265117&type=specialshow<br/><br/>Really disappointed. Nothing special took a plane just to try this place.

Save your money! Do NOT go here!. Having been to PA (home of the original cheesesteak), I was SO looking forward to a great sandwich. My BF and I debated which one we wanted as everything looked intoxicatingly tasty!<br/><br/>Spent: $45 including GST and tip.<br/><br/>* Ordered 1 New Yorker salad and 1 Cowboy Sandwich.<br/>* Received 1 New York Sandwich and 1 Cowboy Salad<br/>* Asked for garlic mayo and bacon mayo on side so we could use them as fry dips. We only got one.<br/>* Ordered 2 milkshakes - one of which was not sealed properly. When we tilted it to drink from the straw, my BF got chocolate over his clothes.<br/><br/>-----> So, for $45, I didn't get to eat since they didn't give me a fork, gave me the wrong salad AND mixed the hot food into the salad thus wilting it into an inedible mess. The salad went to the trash. My BF ate the wrong sandwich - which apparently was good, but not what he had ordered so it was disappointing. <br/><br/>Unfortunately the best part of the take out lunch was the french fries.<br/><br/>Save your $45, there's a lot more care and attention to detail in nearby places.

Good idea but so-so food. Finally a real philly cheese steak place in Vancouver. I have great hope and expecation at this place. The menu is simple, just varities of philly cheesesteak sandwiches and sides. I have ordered the classic plus side fries and truffle aioli. The food is slightly expensive for what it is. The sandwich size is big, but tasted bland, the fries was over-cooked. The wait time for the food was about 20 mins (for 2 orders of sandwich), and 2 people ahead of us. i'm not sure if I will go back anytime soon.

Great Downtown Eats. Wasn't too busy so I got The New Yorker with sautéed onions and American cheese which surprised me by the size of the sub making it worth the price.<br/><br/>Also had some onion rings on the side and it was alright, nothing special.
Cheez_whiz45
BEST SANDWICH EVER. I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of sandwiches and I can honestly say that the New Yorker is the best sandwhich that I have ever eaten in my life :) I actually crave it at all times....its a bit of a problem actually haha. The onion rings are awesome paired with a side of the ridiculously good bacon parmasean dip. This is my favourite restaurant of all time! Staff are also very friendly! GO. JUST GO.

Major Disappointment. I had been wanting to check this place out and finally got a chance recently. I ordered the Philly -- the basic sandwich -- and was very disappointed. Let's put it this way: when you have to put ketchup on what is supposed to be a Philly cheesesteak sandwich just to give it some flavour, you have a serious problem. Very bland. And if that’s prime rib, then McDonald’s uses Kobe beef. The title of best beef sub ever made in Vancouver still belongs to the old Fresgo Inn on Davie (RIP).

Outrageously expensive for fast food if you order anything besides basic fries and beer as drink and side.

Come in here thinking $12 for a meal IT'S $12 for sandwich ONLY drinks and fries separate so it comes to $20 total. Nothing special

Just ate here, WOW. Just visiting Van with my wife and two boys and looking for a place to eat, saw the sign and went for a look at the menu. Glad we did. This is an unbelieveble cheesesteak place. I got the Cowboy and it was fantastic. Steak was very tender and lean and the fresh bun was perfect. Bacon mayo, wite cheddar, BBQ sauce and crispy onions top this beast. I have to say this was the best cheesesteak I have ever eaten. Oh, and you have to get the ACC fries, simply amazing. My son is already asking for it for breakfast as well. Great job guys.

Amazing service. Check these guys out for the most epically awesome guys around, seriously above and beyond service expectations with my special order!

Best cheesesteak in Vancouver!. MMM cheese mmmm meat...what more could a girl ask for? I had the LE bifteck and it's so good! Considering that the small is the same price as subway down the street I dunno why anyone would go there anymore. Now the Big shot is really really flavorful and worth a try once in your life considering it's steep price but worth it-very very worth it (just once). Let me explain why-it's wagyu beef people! That's the same kind of cow kobe beef is from so yes it's authentic kobe-ish beef. Items with the name kobe burger, kobe restaurant, nuhuh not even the real stuff. So yes, bottomline try the expensive sandwich once but stick with the LE bifteck or other cheaper items if you plan on having all the flavor but none of the walletpinch like us other lowly mortals.

I tried 'le bifteck', 'cowboy' and ACC fires. All dish was so yummy! All ingredients were harmonious in my mouth. I prefer 'le bifteck' because of its sauce; kinda sweet and mild. I felt 'cowboy' had so strong stake sauce that it's easy to be sick of it. But my sister prefer 'cowboy'. I ordered small fries, but the protion was pretty big. It was more than enough for 2 girls, and it was so taisty as well.

Bessst. I heard this place on team 1040....The best cheesesteak sandwich period.

Overall very happy. We have been on about 6 occasions, and each time the food was very good. <br/>I am a fussy meat eater, being that if I find any blobs of fat or gristle, I'm gagging. :( They are using trimmed top grade prime rib, partilaly frozen then shaved paper thin. Awesome. I have yet to get the heebs about it. <br/>We have both been impressed with the qaulity and the freindly staff. We have not encountered any major line ups either. They have beer on tap. Local craft beer from R&B... Bohemian plisner Yum ! Way to go for supporting the small local guys. As for those of you crying about $10 for a small sandwich ...Top quality products made in front of you, go eat a sandwich at Bada Bing and tell me how it stacks up.

I thought it was great and I'll be back. I would go more, but it's expensive, $10+ for a small is a bit up there for lunch in downtown.

First Time Cheesesteaks. Ordering/Price: When you first walk into the ACC, there will probably be a line. Don't worry, the cashier is very efficient, so look up at the wall mounted menus and have your order ready. Your bill will vary on what you select but the actual cheese steak will probably ring in around $10-12. I ordered a small New Yorker which was $10. If you want fries/onion rings, add in another $4-6. You can also buy drinks/milkshakes if you want but note there are pitchers of ice water w/ lemon for free if you're thirsty. Rounding things up are 5 or 6 dipping sauces you can order for $1 each. Place your order, pay and go find a table w/ the number card you're given. A staff member will be by in around 10 minutes with your food.<br/><br/>Food: As I said earlier, I have never actually had a cheese steak before so have nothing to compare it to but, I must say, I quite enjoyed my New Yorker. First off, the bread was soft and fluffy on the inside but crisp on the outside. The meat was tender and flavorful, complimented well by the garlic mayo and fresh vegetables. I was quite shocked at how substantial the sandwich turned out to be, there is A LOT of ingredients packed in-between the bread. Although the cheese steak was very filling, I still managed to enjoy my ACC fries, they were hot, salty and very tasty. The smokey chipotle dipping sauce was perfect for dipping both the fries and the last few bites of cheese steak.<br/><br/>Ambiance/Staff: The ACC is a very cozy and well laid out eatery. The red brick, white walls and butcher block table tops maintain a casual but attractive aesthetic. The cashier and waitress I dealt with were both very efficient and helpful. While I was there, two men I believe are owners were walking around talking to customers. Overall, a very approachable space perfect for singles, couples or even larger groups. <br/><br/>Final thoughts: I visited the American Cheesesteak Co. today because of the positive reviews here on Yelp and genuinely enjoyed the meal. The food was fresh, well prepared and very tasty. I wish the ACC all the best of success here in Vancouver and will definitely be back in the near future. A must visit for all Vancouver foodies, cheers! :D <br/><br/>http://www.alvinkclee.com/

Nice Concept. The only other CheeseSteak we have tried were the ones in Subway so it was nice to have a place that is dedicated to CheeseSteak. We ordered the Cowboy and the Classic (with provolone). The Classic CheeseSteak had mushrooms in it but we didn't feel that there was much mushroom taste to it - should have opt for the Philly instead (a dollar cheaper). The Cowboy CheeseSteak was tasty and had a lot more ingredients in it but we did find the bbq sauce a little overwhelming (maybe a little less would be better). Everything was very fresh. They cook the steak right when you order.

Classic was a classic. High quality beef and not oily. I'd recommend going home and toasting it in a small oven to brown the bun a bit more.<br/>Very tasty and not too heavy. I'm not a heavy beef eater but this was far superior to a hamburger. These guys hit it on the head and I'll definately try something different next time.

Mutant zombie cheeseburgers: better than it sounds.. On walking in, we were pleasantly surprised by the decor. It's upscale compared to most fast food places, but not pretentious - simple, diner-inspired furnishings, "funny" wall art thankfully understated, and the omnipresent-in-Vancouver flatscreen TV shut off (presumably they'll be showing sports games in future).<br/><br/>The menu has some appealing options, but the price seemed a tad high for fast food (the cost was justified when we got the food, though: that much meat and cheese must cost the restaurant a fair bit). It's mostly classic Philadelphia fast food, with a few interesting additions like bacon mayo, brie, or the vegetarian beefsteak with portobello mushrooms instead of beef. <br/><br/>There's also something called the "Big Shot" clearly made for obnoxious yuppies: it's made with Wagyu beef (an American meat made from the Wagyu cattle used in Kobe, Japan, for their famous beef - kudos to chef Anthony Sedlak for refusing to call it "Kobe-Style") and a truffle aioli, among other things, and will set you back $22 for a large. There's no point in buying this other than to show off to your jerk friends - it's like mixing single-malt scotch with Coca-Cola.<br/><br/>Opting for simplicity (and curious to see their take on the classic recipe) we went for a large Philly ($10), as well as a large Cowboy ($12) to see what the restaurant's attempt to go a little hogwild would result in. Both sandwiches were pleasantly surprising.<br/><br/>When they arrived, it was obvious we'd ordered a large. Each sandwich is a huge bun absolutely packed with meat and cheese. We breathed a sigh of relief that we hadn't ordered fries or onion rings - an hour later, I'm still stuffed. <br/><br/>It was high-quality stuff, too. Apparently every sandwich uses prime rib hash, although the meat tasted better in the Cowboy than in the Philly (perhaps it was that the Philly was slightly overcooked, although I am a compulsive eater of bloody-rare steak, so take my opinions on beef with a grain of salt). The sauces were balanced perfectly - by the end of the meal, part of the bread was a little soggy, but it was by no means the mess I was expecting, and there wasn't a dry bite in either sandwich. <br/><br/>The Philly came with the default American cheese - an unashamedly unnatural guilty pleasure which, in certain foods, is absolutely untouchable (try making a grilled cheese sandwich with gruyere: it's just not the same!) - and grilled onions, although the onions are option and you can substitute provolone or, decadently, Cheese Whiz. The Cowboy came with a bacon mayonnaise, crispy fried onions, aged cheddar, and a house BBQ sauce which complemented the meat perfectly. Both were (as previously mentioned) huge, and the plastic cups we filled with ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce (an unlabelled squeeze bottle - tasted somewhere between Louisiana Crystal and Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wings Sauce) went mostly untouched, as the sandwiches taste great as-is.<br/><br/>At $27 for two people, this place is great for lunch with friends, as long as you'd be okay with them seeing you covered in beef juice. If you're looking for unhealthy and delicious, you won't be disappointed.

...nothing special. I was excited to try this place after hearing it had finally opened. when i ordered, it was pretty clear the cashier hated her job...she was definitely not impressed at being there and was angry when we added a drink to our order at the last minute. we waited what felt like a pretty long time for our food considering the place wasn't very busy, and when the food arrived...only one cheesesteak came out and the server disappeared without saying anything about the rest of the order. a few minutes later, she came out with the rest of the items (putting all the items on the table without saying a single word).<br/><br/>i was still looking forward to the food, despite the angry service...but was very disappointed after taking a few bites. the meat was incredibly bland and the sandwich only had minimal flavour from the cheese. i will say that the bun was awesome....whatever that's worth. if i'm going to eat food that's as bad for me as a philly cheesesteak, i really need it to taste better than this. it also didn't feel like a great value for the money. i won't be returning :(
Bonnie
The sandwich is great! Always have the New Yorker and it is always tasty! It's a bit of a wait (about 12 to 15 min) so its not fast food, but that's only because they don't cook your shaved prime rib until you order it. It's worth the wait though...super yum.
Michael Druce
Completely enjoyed my Classic cheesesteak and acc fries. Chef @anthonysedlak has brought the best of Philly to Vancouver. Thanks Anthony!
Genevieve C
I got The New Yorker, w sautéed onions and provolone... Yum. I wouldn't even have to think twice about going back. I didn't even have to wait long in line or to have it made, soo... Service-wise, it really depends on what time of day you go I guess. Worth it!

Oh man. What a beaut.

Just okay.... ACC Fries- overcooked<br/>Strawberry Shake- funny tasting, hardly premium ice cream<br/>Cowboy- pretty good<br/><br/>I guess this would be the alternative to a burger. Beef, onions, cheese... <br/><br/>The bread was pretty good though. Did not fall apart and get soggy. Actually, good and chewy.<br/><br/>Still on the fence, maybe will go once more...<br/><br/>I'd go just to get a sandwich and nothing else.<br/><br/>Cheers.

My wife and I checked out the A.C.C. on Friday. Cool "diner-like" atmosphere and location. The food was Awesome! Melt in your mouth beef, and the bun is perfect. Cold beer, friendly service, reasonable prices, and amazing food. What more could you ask for?? Highly recommended.

Cheese Steak, ' Nuf Said. Cheese Steak Sandwiches with Provolone. Delicious, yummy and awfully savory. It taste better with the Sauteed Onions too. I also had a side of ACC fries (Fries that are tossed with fresh garlic, parsley and parmesan) coupled with Truffle Aoili, hmmm hmm hmmm! My only beef (pardon the pun) is that my Baguette is not toasted warm and crunchy. If they had done that, it would be perfect.

Tried ACC last night and I was really impressed. Knowledgable staff helped out with explaining things. I was going to get the regular fries but the ACC fries smelled heavenly so I ordered those instead. ACC fries were flavorful and delicious. The Philly "with" and American cheese was cooked to perfection. Order was to go and when I got home things weren't soggy. I recommend it!

Don't believe Yankee Bob. There's this annoying dude who stands in line and keeps saying to anyone who'll listen that the cheesesteaks are the best food item invented in the history of mankind, bar none. He says he's tried everything on the menu, TWICE. Either Yankee Bob is a bit prone to hyperbole, or doesn't get to go out much. He's been here five times in the week since the joint opened, anyway that's what he'll tell the owner who's within earshot, or the thirty other people standing in the queue wishing they could punch him in the face. Yankee Bob is clearly angling for a freebie. Anyway I ordered a small Big Shot (wagyu beef, fontina cheese, mushrooms) -- $18. It took twelve minutes to get to the cashier, and eight minutes to get my order. Was it worth the wait, and having to endure being marinated in bbq smoke, and the rantings of Yankee Bob. Nup.

...the sandwiches are great! But I don’t like how the buns are like hot dog buns. They break off into half and the meat inside falls out all over the place. The meat is “steak” is very juicy, but also a bit too greasy. You will get tired of it after half of the bun. I guess it depends cause I usually eat light.

I visited The American CheeseSteak Co. in Downtown Vancouver and It was amazing! Delicious sandwiches and cheap beer combined with friendly staff is hard to match!

...After having a rather disappointing Philly Cheesesteak sandwich/wrap...I decided to head to downtown Vancouver and see how the American Cheesesteak Company does up their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. My verdict – they do them up superbly.
Idea Rabbit
Newly opened up a only a few years ago, my friend invited to join him for some bites. Target audience was hipsters, young adults who enjoyed living in the downtown area (hence being on Davie st), for a different, unique dining experience. I kept thinking or wanting to call the place ‘cheesecake’ even though they don’t have any sweets lol. The menu didn’t have much of a selection – burgers and fries. But since my friend had gone to other locations of the chain, I left the decision up to him. We tried the $12 New Yorker. After ordering and paying first at the counter, they gave us a number and sat ourselves down. Soon afterward, one of them brought our food to the table. The flavour was good, but really heavy at the same time. sautéed mushrooms and peppers, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and roasted garlic mayo. For $12 I thought it was really expensive. Anything that doesn’t use utensils to eat, I always expect them to be cheap. Which is why I find Japadogs super expensive at $7 per hotdog

Vancouver needs more hearty sandwich shops... I can't get enough of sandwiches! This is one of Mark's go to spots. After his tragic food poisoning incident at Memphis Blue's he now stays far away from anything that is considered smokey and barbecuey. Which is why he ordered 'The Cowboy' ($10 reg/$12 large). The cowboy is prime rib covered in bbq sauce, fried onions and white ched. (dummy). I personally stuck to what I know I like... arugula, brie, balsamic, onion jam, oh ya and prime rib. I think 'Le Bifteck' ($10 reg/$12 large) is my official go to everytime. Stick with the regular size and order a side of the ACC Fries (topped with garlic, parsley and parm). Just a fair warning, it takes a good sandwich maker to have the sandwich stay in tact.. scope out who's cooking and get in line.

I enjoyed my cheesesteak. The Classic was a delightful blend of prime rib with sauteed onions, mushrooms and topped with cheese. In case you’re wondering why Vikki’s cheesesteak has so much more cheese, I think it’s because she ordered her’s with Provolone cheese. If that’s not the reason, then maybe they wanted to give her more cheese.<br/>
Domo Is Craving...
I highly recommend this place! It is located on Davie and they don't have their personal parking so the only way is if you transit or you pay parking. At first when I heard the name I thought it'll be a very fancy place but nope, it's a super casual atmosphere and you basically pay at the counter first and you go sit yourself and grab utensils on the side on your own. When you purchase food, they'll hand you a number tag so they'll know what you ordered and they'll bring it over when it's ready.

It's time for lunch today and I wanted to go to one of my favorite places reasonably near my work. The American CheeseSteak Co was a short bus ride across the Granville Street bridge from me. Yes - if it's worth it I will commute on my lunch. And believe me this place is worth it.

I dig all this specialization. Choose one thing and do it well. Until recently, if someone had asked me, where do I go to get a good cheesesteak around here, I would’ve stared at them blankly and then made some crack about Philly. I now have a better answer: The American CheeseSteak Co.
Curtis G NG
We started off with the  ACC Fries ($4 small size), which were tossed with garlic, parsley and parmesan. The thick-cut fries were very aromatic and tasty! Even though it was a step up from regular fries, I thought that some of the fries were overcooked…

Foodie Recommendations: Even for the strong eaters out there, I would still suggest ordering a 6incher to start off with. That shits intense.

I was out and about with the Food Bloggers today and on our way to Loving Hut Express , we passed by The American CheeseSteak Co. on Davie. If you've never been there, it's a pretty small space with a very open kitchen. From the street and in front of the counter you can watch the cooks prep your food on a griddle . It's a great selling point and what you see is what you get, so there's no surprise when you get your order. The prices here are very good for the portion you get: Basically $8-10 for a 6" sub, $2 to supersize it to a 9" sub. The subs come in a basket. Curiously, there are service stations with steak knives. To me, this doesn't really add up since you don't get a plate even if you wanted to knife-and-fork your sub. Their fries are double-fried, but even before any frying, they go into water with vinegar, which breaks down the starch and makes holes in the potato so that when they are fried the oil can penetrate the fry. The end result is said to be a crispier fry. Strangely

I opted for one of the special ones and got the regular sized Cowboy ($10) which comes with shaved prime rib, crispy fried onions, homemade spicy bbq sauce, bacon mayo and aged white cheddar. This sandwich was amazing.

American Cheesesteak Company opens late – like 3am late. This place located on Davie Street in Downtown Vancouver is heaven at those ungodly hours when clubs have just let out the high heels, short skirts and cologne musk of humans. The cheesesteak is  quintessentially East Coast and draws in tourist and cultural  obsession  over the dripping, envelope pushing long crusty roll filled with thinly sliced sauteed ribeye beef and melted cheese. Despite the name, American Cheesesteak Company, it is by no means an American chain restaurant. It is Vancouver’s take on the Philadelphia tradition – the Philly Cheesesteak.       THE BIG SHOT $13: shaved prime rib, sautéed forest mushrooms, crispy onions, truffle aioli and fontina cheese. Somehow the additional of truffle aioli makes the Philly only half the man he is today. I could be wrong, but at 2am after the ridiculously harmonic Eagles concert  commandeered the mike to croon, nothing beats a mean cheesesteak and beer.
Eating With Kirby
Meta Knight and I shared a Large Cowboy ($12.00) as it seemed to be the highly recommended one on the menu. The large cowboy consisted of shaved prime rib, crispy fried onions, their homemade spicy BBQ sauce, bacon mayo, and aged white cheddar. I have to say... this was one indulgent cheesesteak. The cheese was nice and gooey while the crispy fried onions gave the whole sandwich a great crunch. The shaved prime rib was absolutely delicious and they piled quite a bit on there too.

I must warn you their sandwiches are mouthwatering (I'm wanting one right now!), full of meaty goodness and seriously delish.

After being tempted by Kevin and Jeff with their cheesesteaks, I went back the day after just for it since it looked so delicious.

There has been a lot of buzz about this place around town ever since Food Network Canada chef, Anthony Sedlak opened this restaurant dedicated to Philadelphia's Philly Cheese steak. I've had my share of sandwiches with beef and cheese but I entered this restaurant a "cheesesteak virgin."
Gastrofork Dee De Los Santos
I didn’t feel too sloughed after, so I know the ingredients are high quality, good food. It wasn’t too salty or felt extremely awful for me, so I would return knowing this guilty pleasure is a well made, handcrafted lunch. A bit pricey for what it is, but delicious! 75/100.
EatPNW
..we will definitely be back for these great sandwiches and to try out their sides as well. When the Cowboy is a calling, it will be hard to ignore!
The Hungry Nomad
This is a perfect addition to the downtown core and definitely a first. I'll be going back to try the other sandwiches.

Frozen custard is creamier, silkier and smoother than regular ice cream, frozen custard is delicious beyond belief. I was so sad to learn that this amazing treat was not available in Canada. Until now.
Food Persuasion
The meal was so stereotypical American is so many ways, a whole lotta sugar, sodium and vats of fat. I don’t think I could eat another sub for the next few months after that meal.

Once again, the food was good and plentiful. Not wildly spectacular, but it was damn tasty and sure fills your meat quotient.

The American CheeseSteak Co. opened up around Davies and Granville a few months ago. They serve up some delicious CheeseSteaks at decent prices. Anthony Sedlak, the chef of The American CheeseSteak Co. was also the host of the Food Network show - The Main . He's also lost a lot of weight since then. If you're looking a good filling meal with lots of delicious meat in a bun, this place is the place to go. Dee from Gastrofork and I decided to check it out, so do check out her thoughts on the meal as well. Bottled Coke ($3) I love old school bottled coke in the glass bottle. It brings me back to the days before I was born. I also caught a picture of Dee in the background just for fun. Le Bifteck (Small-$10) has shaved prime rib, caramelized onion jam, double-cream brie, arugula, and dijon. The ooey gooey brie cheese with the meat just made a very good combination. It was very messy to eat, so I got sauce all over my hands and face. I felt like a kid not being able to control how clean or

Anthony Sedlak 's black olive and goat cheese tart has been one of my go-to, fail safe recipes for years so you can imagine my excitement when he opened The American Cheese Steak Co. in downtown, Vancouver. Ok, and I'll confess that I've noticed between his stint as host of The Main and the opening of The American Cheese Steak Co., Anthony Sedlak has transformed his image from being a wholesome, low key, boy next door to an edgy, tattooed, culinary rebel. Not that it takes edgy rebels to sell Philly cheese steak sandwiches but it couldn't hurt to have some street cred. The American Cheese Steak Co. 781 Davie Street, Vancouver I have been hearing endless stories about the Cowboy cheese steak sandwich. It's always the one that Anthony Sedlak makes on TV appearances , and it also seems to be the sandwich that every food blogger in town has been ordering so I was dying to try
