Yew Seafood + Bar is located inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Downtown Vancouver. The interior has a lot of wooden accents and is beautifully appointed. I’ve been by a few times for dinner, but this was my first time to try their brunch. I stopped by earlier this week to try out their new brunch offer. For any brunch entree ordered, you can add $20 to make it a full three course meal (appetizer, dessert and coffee or juice). Brunch is served on the weekend from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm.

Spot prawns are available now and for a limited time at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver’s YEW seafood + bar where Chef Edgar Kano is cooking up a terrific Spot Prawn Boil with these local beauties. Succulent and delicious local spot prawns are a delicacy not to be missed. If you've missed Spot Prawn Boil you should make a point of going for YEW's Crab & Lobster Boil. The ultra-popular Crab + Lobster Boils are in full swing and due to demand they've added new dates through July and August. These fun-filled, seafood dinners come with a mouthwatering array of sides and finish with a sensational seasonal Fresh BC Cherry Clafoutis.

The new menus are littered with fresh, west coast fare including plates like trout toast, cured salmon, halibut, and other turns at classically prepared dishes paired with new, playful cocktails from the well-mannered hotel bar.

Service: At a place this calibre, you would think the service would be spectacular. Our server was disengaged and showed no interest in his job. I've been to places where the server was warm and this one was cold af. . Atmosphere: Loved the decor, taking our jackets was a nice touch.

YEW Seafood + Bar is one of the most popular, upscale contemporary restaurants in Vancouver.  Located inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Downtown Vancouver, YEW Seafood + Bar specializes in  Pacific Northwest cuisine with a focus on seafood.  I recently took advantage of the Travelzoo deal which is a dinner for two priced at $109 (essentially 50% off).  The deal includes two appetizers, two entrees and two desserts from the dinner menu, along with a glass of wine each.   The great part about this deal is that you get to order off the regular dinner menu.

Got an almost free dinner in Yew's, a friend knows a friend working there so we only paid for our main course! To say the seafood spaghetti is good may be an understatement... never had pasta that fresh before with scallops seared golden brown and the inside glistening and the other seafood just blends so well together with the bisque not fishy at all. The tartar was good too oh and the star - the lobster bisque - best lobster bisque Ive ever tried - the first sip already gives you the depth and freshness of the ocean~~

To end our Dine Out adventures this year, we decided on YEW, located at the Fairmont beside Pacific Center. They offered a $40 3-course menu with optional wine pairings for each course (various prices). The inside decor is classy but felt comforting. Our server was very friendly and started us with some hot water. Adorables said that he looked familiar, almost like a person he had met during a volunteering mission many years ago!

We were provided with bread to start, Adorables and I gorged on their bread with herb butter.

I ended up dipping my bread in their Yew Lobster Bisque with crispy leek and croutons. I enjoyed this dish the first time I came, but it had been so long I didn't really remember the taste, only "it was good". This was a very creamy but thin bisque. Rich lobster shell flavor. Although it was a small bowl, it soon proved to be a little much all for myself (of course I shared the rest with Adorables).

I talked Adorables into getting the Albacore Tuna with green lentil salad and winter vegetables. Plated as a tower of fish on top of a green lentil salad and garnished with winter vegetables, it was a beautifully colorful arrangement.

Tuna was nice and fresh, lentil added texture to the mushy tuna. Gotta say their plating was simple yet elegant.

I knew it was a silly idea but we both chose more fish for our meal, with Adorables getting the Roasted Salmon with Greek style vegetables and coriander. The fish was cooked perfectly, flakey and not overdone. A golden sheen on the outside on a bed of veggies and soup. Adorables enjoyed the pairing of soup to his fish. I was impartial to this.

I had the Pan Fried Sablefish with vegetables spaghetti, coconut and bouillabaisse. This was a magnificent dish. The sablefish was flakey, moist, and melted in my mouth. Paired with the delicious bouillabaisse-- the dish was well enhanced. I liked this "soup" base more than the one Adorables had since it was more fragrant and full-bodied. The vegetable spaghetti was fine and nicely twirled on my fork.

Onto the dessert round! Their Green Mountain was made with green tea, chestnut, and vanilla yuzu creme. It was a smooth, creamy explosion of green tea flavor in my mouth. The chestnut was very sweet but in small amounts was fine with the rest of the dessert. I loved the shape of it, so cute!

Couldn't decide on the other dessert, our server recommended the Jitters Gateau made with coffee and brown butter Pain de Gênes, coffee cream, and coffee hazelnut streusel. It was amazing! I don't know what made the crunchy bits, but along with the cream and cake-- this was a wonderful dessert experience with a variety of sweet and bitter and textures too!

By the end of the night, we had fully enjoyed our meal and spent some time looking through old photos trying to remember the name of the guide who led the volunteer mission in Morocco-- it turns out our server was indeed the same person! He was still building the school, and it had expanded to become a community center with healthcare included. What an amazing end to our evening, and what a small world it is to reunite with old faces halfway across the world!

After a decorated New Year Eves bash, one would think to stay home after an evening of bottle-popping festivities. Nope, not us! Hungover or not, one does not forgo the habitual Sunday brunch.   Ringing in 2017 with a meal at Yew Seafood + Bar seemed appropriate enough, being that we wouldn't normally spend $100 on brunch (we're indulgent, but not that indulgent...we have textbooks to pay for!)

We were just at the Fairmount the night before (having attended New Year's at the The Hotel Vancouver) and yet, we were downtown again for brunch the very next day.

A round of oysters, gluten-free fish & chips (yes, such a thing exists) and Mahi Mahi made for a satisfying brunch indeed (but maybe not $100 satisfying...hey, Jeremy was treating alright.)

Post-brunch we went for dessert at Trees Organic (not our first choice but everything else was closed for New Years Day.)

Got the $80 coupon through Travelzoo for a regular $125 3-course dinner for two. The food was good but with only two options for appetizers and only Steak or Salmon for main course. Both the dishes were done perfectly. But I will not go for the discounted coupon next time.
