Came here for a quick dinner. It's a small place but we were seated quickly. The staff was friendly and even apologized that one of the orders was a little behind even though we didn't notice. Good and simple selection of good. The sushi was flavorful and fresh.
Normally I get sushi when I go to Japanese restaurants. Last night, for the first time ever, I tried the dish which is much more popular in Japan than sushi is: Japanese curry. It was fantastic at Nikkyu! They also have ramen and interesting don bowls in addition to sushi - but I know I am going to be craving that curry. I might well start making it at home. Due to the fact that Japanese curry seems to be rarely found even in Vancouver restaurants, for the review which brings my Zomato profile up a level, I am going to say that this is amongst my favourite Japanese restaurants.
As a further entry, I just had some curry from Nikki that may very well have been the best restaurant meal I have ever had. If you like Japanese food, you should go here!
This is one of my favourite cheap sushi restaurants in Vancouver! The veggie rolls are to die for and the rest of the sushi is always fresh. Take out is SPEEDY and the staff are extremely friendly.
This place is great in the summertime. Their patio gets lots of sun and you can play your own music. Me and my friends always go here to celebrate any chance we get. Cheap beers great food. Highly recommended đź‘Ś
In the neighbourhood so stopping in for lunch. On a hot day they had a wonderful cool place with ice cold water served right away. A huge menu with lunch and dinner specials. They also have cheep beer. I had my usual with a wonderful avocado roll, chicken karage and tempura. I know it's boring but it makes me happy. I loved it all. Rainbowcrab also really enjoyed her box but said her teriayki beef was a bit greasy. I look forward to try it again. Only a couple photos as we were too busy eating. Service was friendly and efficient.
My girlfriend and I were meeting up with our real-estate manager, who is also my highschool friend, for a chat. We wanted to go to anh and chi but the line up was huge! It didn't bother us so we ended up here.
Drinks are cheap, Japanese beers off tap, a few in-house specials, and decent service. We ordered a bit of everything. The salmon aburi was only a dollar each and hey not bad. The rolls are good and pricing is decent. What surprised me the most was their tempura, light and flakey, fried perfectly, and above all we knew it was fried in fresh oil. Not bad for a last minute place to talk buisness. It wasn't noisey at all and parking is free. Would I come back? More yes then no. Nothing wow but it got the job done. We also saw a picture of Bruno Mars eating here, pretty cool.
I bought a groupon for this place and decided to try it out! The portions are small and the food is good but not satisfying.
Same menu as previous owners, but service... Server needs to spend more time checking if customers have tea, reassure them their food is on it's way soon, and clearing plates promptly, and less time chatting with the other staff.
Really good, goid prices, nice staff, lots of street parking especially on 17th...overall great Japanese restaurant! Went because of a groupon. Had the nabeyaki udon & cali cone. All very good. Udon was a huge portion. Tempura was very crispy & not greasy...perfectly breaded. Tea was even good quality Japanese rice tea! I've already bought 3 more groupons, but I would go back even without a groupon! Highly recommend!
Large portions. Good prices fresh food. Decent atmosphere. I will be back.
