The Chinese Bakery on Dundas and Huron is the venerable benchmark of authenticity - cheap, simple, no-fuss, fresh, cash only, a few tables and chairs, with a huge selection of sweet and savoury goodies - tarts, buns, cookies, cakes, pies, twists, rolls, you name it - they have it.  Check out the pictures and go there.  My favourites are the Durian Chess Cookies  and the Mango sticky rice cakes

Great but unassuming place in the heart of Chinatown (Dundas st). Good selection, freshly baked goods (there is a time-sheet on the wall showing fresh stuff is made-- wow!) and reasonable prices. There is also $2 specials of slightly older (but still very good) baked goods next to the counter. Service is fast and efficient. Debit or cash only.
