Delicious wings, great tasting burgers with many choices of beers. Perfect to spend your summer afternoon or evening at their beautiful patio sipping on to chill beers and enjoying great bar food.
Service was slow because only one server was attending to the full house that day, but he was extremely patient and sweet.
A solid neighbourhood watering hole. Various drink deals to take advantage of, and standard pub fare, high in sodium and grease. I usually opt for a burger. The fish tacos were underwhelming, and any sort of steak or rib item looks pricier. The sandwiches are good, too. It's open nice and late, I've walked in around 1:15 to pound back some drinks. If you're seated in the right spot, service comes quickly, but if you're too far away, the servers will be busy chatting with the regulars and you may need to wait a bit for your next drink. It also gets surprisingly busy if the Jays or Leafs are playing, so come early. I can't imagine more than two people finding seating if the game has already started. There is an unmistakeable small town vibe here, as well. People know each others names, there are only a few staff members, and one time, after the kitchen had closed, a drunken blue-collar type disappeared then came back with a stack of pizzas, demanding for everyone in the bar to help themselves, as the bartender laughed. Good music, none of that electronic crap everyone listens to these days. Bathrooms are clean enough. Sometimes it may smell a little like piss down there, but I've encountered worse. I've heard some young people in the neighbourhood say that Old Sod across the street is trendier, and maybe they're right, but they can take centuries to grab your next drink, and will cut people off or throw them out. At Gabby's, once it's dark, they know everyone is there to get wasted. Amusingly, you may actually see families there during the day. As far as chains go, this place gets its job done.
Soup and wings. If you're having the wings at this Gabby's, you've got to try the Kumar flavour. It's the chef's specialty, and I don't think it's listed on the menu yet. Kind of a curry/lime thing going on. One of the best wings I've ever had.
Their homemade soups are also worth having.
