When a bowl of comfort soup is what you're looking for, this place have it in a form of gamjatang. Cheap affordable served pippin hot deliciousness that come with a bowl of rice. Perfect for winter season and not too bad when mood strike on other. Will always comeback for a familiar comfort taste.
Frequently visiting their North York branch. The one on Spadina is easier after moving around the area.
Very friendly service and delicious food! We had a big squid dish to share and it was fantastic! Definitely going to return!
Hidden Gem!. After trying the Owl of Minerva near the North York Centre, I was a little disappointed that to get my fix I would have to take a 20 minute hike up on the subway. To my surprise, the internet claimed that there was another location downtown. On my first hunt for this location I concluded that I must have been delusional as after walking up and down Spadina and popping my head into the Dragon City Mall I still couldn't see anything. The second time I looked up and there it was!
This location is a little different from the North York location as while they have generally the same menu, their popular combo ($20 for an entree and 5 beers or a bottle of soju) can only be done with three dishes: spicy chicken, spicy pork and bulgogi. However, if you are just looking for Korean food they offer all the standards as well (bibimbap, gamjatan etc.). The owners are an incredibly nice couple who make you feel like you are sitting in a Korean household being served by the houseowners. We went with a large group and they gave us 15% off coupons for our next visits.
The downtown location is a great place to either get a Korean fix or socialize before potentially hitting up a bar or club later in the night while getting some incredibly cheap drinks and food.
