This is one of my favourite places to call for takeout. We've been ordering for years. The food is consistently delicious, hot, and reasonably priced. And there has never been a mistake with any of our orders!
THE FOOD THE STAFF/OWNER ARE VERY GOOD. THE CHINESE FAMILY AMBIANCE OF A SMALL ESTABLISHMENT IS VERY MUCH A PART OF THE EATING EXPERIENCE AT CHINA ISLAND. COST IS ON PAR WITH THE SERVICE RENDERED. WELL DONE CHINA ISLAND.

I have been eating here with my family for over 30 years (we used to pick it up for dinner almost every single Friday ) . I have never once had a negative experience with the food (even the countless times over the years when we have introduced it to our family and friends everyone has always loved it. The owner is the sweetest woman and the food is always hot, delicious and made fresh .
We have been getting our Chinese food from China Island for over 15 years and we have never been disappointed. All the vegetables are always cooked to perfection and we find the portions generous. We love it.
Best hot and sour soup in the city! Has lots of veggies and a great taste!! It has that old school charm of what Chinese restaurants use to look like. Food is always fantastic hot and tasty.
Questioning why people have some negative reviews. The original owner was the current owner's dad. My family and their family have known each other for almost 20 years now. When my family and I are in Toronto we all want to go and have dinner here. Their food is always beautiful, and delicious; I will never forget this place. But I do have to admit during the time of her father's passing which was about 4-5 years ago, things were a little rough for her and it kind of affected the business. Something I feel like they should adjust is their store hours. Other than that, food Quality is a 15/10! I would highly recommend this place, they are friendly people; don't go in acting like an American.
"Wow!! So much flavor, my hearts exploding!!" I was visiting a friend of mine who recently move to the high park area. We were hungry and decided that we wanted Chinese food. So we took a walk and started asking people where is a good place to find some good Chinese food. After talking to a few locals it seemed obvious that the place to eat was China Island. One woman with her infant son told us that she had been going to that restaurant with her parents since she was a child and is now married and continuing the tradition with her own family. She insisted we get the lemon chicken, fuji beef and wonton soup. We did and OMG!!! To die for! I now eat at China Island every time I visit my friend.
Best West of Spadina. This gem has been here over 20yrs, cheap, fresh, delicious. Dinner for 2 B with large won ton soup feeds family of four for under $30. Lemon chicken is best I ever had, open kitchen clean and you can watch them cook your dinner. Free green tea, home made won tons, family run.
