For those folks that have grown up in Toronto, the Vesta still survives and is going strong 24 hours a day serving "reputable"food as their sign advertises, as it did in your childhood, serving comfort greasy-spoon fare along a long counter, evoking Hopper's "Nighthawks."
This is by far one of the best greasy spoon breakfast places in the city we love coming here every chance we get and sitting at the bar there’s no real seating just long lengthy bar seating the place is been around for an eternity if you can enjoy some of the nuances then you will have a very good time eating all day breakfast at Vestal lunch
Best diner I've experienced in Toronto. Friendly and casual service in an old "lunch counter" style - there's just a long counter to eat at. Affordable. Fast. Good quality. Open 24/7. A bit cozy to stick around too long, so bring a friend.
Ask for George Golias!. Most of the reviews of Vesta Lunch, the good ones and the bad ones, are right. It's a 24 hour, seven days a week greasy spoon with all the pluses and minuses such places have. If you're lucky, however, George Golias will be the cook behind the counter and he's a fascinating fellow, a 73 year old Czech who has been in Canada for forty or so years, speaks, reads and writes ten languages including Japanese, Arabic, Greek, and Russian to name a few. A one hour documentary movie (The Night Cook) was made about him in 2011 and has aired at least eight times on TV Ontario. He'll make you a good breakfast and entertain you, if you ask, with stories of his life. The place is worth a visit if George is there!
Chicken souvlaki is amazing! Classic 24 hour diner... Try anything it will be sure to impress
Turkey Club sandwich. Really good, uses turkey breast instead of turkey meat. Fries are always crisp and fresh.
Decent food at ANY time. A one of a kind in the area, and not only because it's 24 hours.
the food is good counter food --- sandwiches, hot plates, burgers. great shakes, LOVE the cheeseburgers, the souvlaki is pretty good. also a really good club sandwich.
