Having lots of tasty reliable breakfast spots in the neighbourhood is always a bonus, but having one that serves up a plate of delicious huevos rancheros is the best ever.
My first morning in The Six began with a lovely Eggs Benny breakfast at Huevos Gourmet. 'Huevos' is Spanish for eggs and hence, this pretty little eatery is aptly named, considering the lovely egg preparations that I saw and ate as well. The weather was lovely outside, the large window facing the street was open and soft Mexican music in the background. The service staff are warm and really cheerful. The music and vibes capture your attention from the street itself and anyone who goes in, I assure you, will come out loving the ambience.
Among the two of us, we called for a medium sized, freshly squeezed orange juice, a portion of Eggs Salmon and a portion of what was a Mexican take on Eggs Benedict, and had fresh guacamole and Spanish chorizo. All the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. We also requested for half and half of salad and home fries as sides.
When in Toronto again, I'll be sure to be back here. It was the best breakfast I've had in a while.
I've been dying to try to this place and finally got a chance to. Keep in mind they close everyday at 5pm. They offer all day Mexican breakfast and lunch. The restaurant is super cozy and cute. Service is great and food is fantastic at decent prices. I had the Mexican breakfast (scrambled eggs, with grilled chorizo, jalapeno peppers on a tortilla shell and home fries). Combining my favourite cuisine with my favourite meal of the day - nothing short of amazing! I highly recommend.
