This family owned restaurant has brilliant Italian food. Their menu is very pocket friendly. You can have a nice pasta and a glass of wine in under $20. The staff is a little cranky and can be rude sometimes but then the food makes it all worth it. Their pastas and sauces are all house made. The ambience is pretty casual.
the price for all the delicious food you get is crazy, wouldn't believe i spent 14 bucks on a huge plate of fish pasta. i couldn't even eat it all because it was too much for one person and the fish, pasta and sauce was delicious and authentic tasting. really great overall!
Great place to get reasonably priced Italian food, love there pasta dishes, the sauce is just right and the portions are filling. The staff is welcoming, and professional. At peak times getting a table might take some time, the line up can be somewhat long exiting the entrance and across the front of the building.
Lasagna and Veal Masala taste very good, very nice place, decent food and good service, very good Italian food, and the price is resonance, I will come again :)
Decent place and decent food. I wouldn't say extraordinary or bad. I tried the Fettuccine Alfredo and Garlic bread. The pasta was okay I have had better ones. The sauce wasn't as smooth as I expected it to be.
Mama Martino's is a great little place with good old fashion Italian home style food. As you walk up to the front you'll notice an abundance of flowers and fountains which actually enclose a small patio making it a nice hidden spot for a romantic diner, which is great because there is not mch of a romantic view on the Queensway. Inside appears to be an old style Italian restaraunt with brick and stucco walls and all sorts of trinkets and pictures everywhere. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, so relaxed the staff appear to wear whatever is comfortable for them...no black tie uniforms here. But this actually works for this place as it is casual and nonpretentious. It is a family restaraunt where everyone will feel relaxed. This was our second time here, and we will definitely be returning. The food is great, not over the top trendy cutting edge made with liquid nitrogen or reindeer moss...it's old style Italian Nonna kitchen cooking. The pasta noodles are made in house, the pizza comes thin crust, the tomato sauce is real...what more could you want or expect... It's just simple and good. And this is what Momma Martino's does best, why complicate an uncomplicated dish. They keep it simple with good ingredients and it's a combination that works. Great place to take the family or have a glass of wine on the patio with a loved one.
Great old school pizza and pasta place with excellent prices including wines. The decor makes you feel like you're in a mob movie. For this reason alone I like it.
Friday night spur of the moment dive into a busy parking lot with a big on hunger. About a 15 min wait at the door but watching the food go by made that zip by quickly. Were seated at a for two table by the window and quickly ordered a 1/2L red to start. Waitress recommended to go homemade spaghetti, linguini or Fettichini noodles as they are made inhouse. Chicken Parm and Spaghetti and meatballs were our choices and not disappointed.
Long and short of it. If you just want a simple great value meal then this is it. Sad to hear some of the reviews in here but feel like this was just a good old sit down at Mama's kitchen table kinda place.
Satisfied, happy and full.
Big portions, good prices. Everyone knows about mamma martino's in the neighborhood. Everyone has their own opinions about this restaurant, but I think you get what you pay for and if you need a quick meal this is the place to go. Reasonable prices and big portions!
My new favorite Italian spot. Where do I begin? This place was on my radar because I occasionally work in the area and on my breaks I browse foodie websites. I bought an appetizer and main entrée and easily had enough for two people yet the total cost was less than I would spend in any fast food place.
The appetizer will be in my dreams tonight I'm sure. Their tomato sauce doesn't have the bitter aftertaste as other sauces do. And they know how to melt cheese perfectly.
The entrée was, once again, big enough for two people. I have enough leftovers for tomorrow and perhaps the next day. I can't say enough about this place.
The atmosphere gives you that feeling that you are in 'Mamma's kitchen' and she's encouraging you to eat. I will definitely be back!
