Food is good. Great location. Wheelchair access for bathrooms is problematic. Food can be a bit salty. The food is made rather quickly. Customer service is good, great staff. Decor is dated and simple. Mostly likely one of the better establishments in the area. Place reservations during holiday season can be busy.
My favorite Szechuan in the city. It can be crowded but it just goes to show how good it is. Must eat it in the restaurant at least once as opposed to take out as you lose the crispyness when it's packaged up in the containers. We always get the Crispy Ginger Chicken and Dry Shredded Beef with the curry roll and two sides of steamed rice. Cannot recommend enough

We had tried gong to Szechuan Gourmet a few times in the past year, but they always had a crowd waiting to get in. I think we were trying on Saturday evenings. This time we tried on Sunday for dinner, and there was no problem getting a table for the two of us.
We started out with Hot and Sour Soup for two. For us this was one of the better Hot and Sour soups that we have had in a long time. It was nicely balanced between the spicy and vinegary flavours. Plenty of chunks of tofu and sliced pork. I personally would have preferred a few more mushrooms, but it was still very good as is. There was enough in the big bowl for each of us to have two small bowls.
Then we moved on to Vegetable Spring Rolls. Light, crispy wrap, stuffed with seasoned bean sprouts, carrots, celery and more. It was a little bit oily on the outside, but considering that it was deep fried, not too oily. While the outside was crisp, the vegetables inside were not overcooked, and they still had a good crunch.
Next were the two main dishes. One was Diced Chicken with Cashew Nut. The carrots and celery added some nice colour, but the bamboo shoots seemed to be a bit overdone. The other dish was Sliced Beef with Broccoli. The beef was very tender; almost melt in your mouth. The broccoli had a good crunch. One thing we noticed that both dishes tasted and looked very good st the beginning, but as they cooled off, they seemed a little bit greasy.
Service was very good. Attentive server and we did not have to wait too long for our food to arrive.
So was it worth the multiple tries to get in? Mixed feelings on that one. Service: very good. Soup and spring rolls: very good. Main dishes: started out good. Maybe next we would only order one main dish, and finish that one before ordering another one?
Tasty & Fast Service. Everything is really tasty and at a good price you can get a lot of food, enough to even take home and have another dinner.

Mostly order togo or Delivery - Our go to place for Chinese food. We have eaten in the restaurant a few times especially to break the "Yom Kippur Fast" Love the round tables for large groups. I love the Crispy Beef, we always order it without the spice because of the kids, and if you bite into one of those peppers, Yow! But I'm a not a fan of really spicy food, beware it has lots of salt. I like that they keep my last order in the system, so we just reorder all the time with minor changes. 10% off if you pick up is really nice. Hit and miss with the flavours, it seems like the recipe is not always consistent. Good value for the price, we are a family of 6, and we are always ending up with left overs for lunch, the portions are generous. Last night was the odd time the take out container was only half full. But this has never happened before, so not bad overall. We have gone back to this place even after trying others.
Great food, service was fine, overall athmosphere felt a little greedy. The restaraunt has a minimum $10 order and has most dishes at $9.50, forcing you to buy something else. When we asked if one dish can feed two people, the waiter said no, we should get at least 4 dishes. We ordered 2, and my girlfriend and I, being decently hungry, only finished half of each of our dishes. It just felt like they were too much after the money. The food came very quickly, and my glass was always full of water, which was good. And food was very good, much better than expected.
This is a place you go to or order from for the food, not the service. Food is awesome. Get the spicy ginger chicken!
Great food, but small packed restaurant. We've gone here for years and it is consistently the best Chinese food in the area. Others come and go, but this place is the best. Service is efficient and generally professional if not overly friendly. The staff always seem stressed and serious, likely because there's a lineup of packed people hovering like sardines and looking for a table. Our only issue is the size of the restaurant. It's small. So waiting is a reality and there's really no room to wait. Not a lot of fun but perseverance gets you a good dinner. I think reservations may e allowed, so consider calling if you're going to give them a try.
Love this place! The general Tao is unreal
One of my favourite restaurants. Good Chinese food is hard to come by in North York/Thornhill, this place is a gem. They have the best lemon chicken, spicy beef, and shrimp fried rice! Their crab corn soup is my penicillin.
