After a little late afternoon drive, we decided to try Mashu Mashu for dinner. since the restaurant was less than half full when we arrived before 6 pm, we were seated immediately. I noticed a couple of tables with reserved signs, and the restaurant continued to fill up as we had our meal. The decor was fairly elegant, with the dark walls and tables, and the white high-backed chairs.
SWBMO ordered the Chicken Schnitzel with Fries and Greek Salad ($21.95). The salad was very colourful, with the addition of red and yellow bell peppers. The breaded chicken had been pounded thin before frying, and had a tasty, crispy coating, but unfortunately the chicken was a bit dry. The fries were nicely done; a bit crisp on the outside.
I chose the Salmon Shish Kebob with Israeli Salad and Seasonal Vegetables (one skewer $20.50). My salad was healing and filling. The salmon was *really* good. The kebob chunks had a nice little char, and the size of the pieces allowed it all to be cooked uniformly, and it was cooked just right. After I added some freshly squeezed lemon, each bite had a pleasant tanginess. The veggies were good; not overcooked.
Service was friendly and polite. The prices were a bit high, but overall the food was pretty good.
Mashu Mashu in Forest Hill Village is an attractive Mediterranean restaurant, with a good menu with lunch combo specials, spacious seating and efficient staff. The pictured lentil soup and falafel wrap for lunch was filling and delicious.
Food was delicious as always and Elisin made an extra effort to make our dining experience special. Chicken skewer dinners are always moist and not dried out, as we have found at similar Mediterranean restaurants.
