I had to check out this place myself after reading the great reviews, which were accurate. They sell top quality fish and other Japanese grocery products. The staff have great customer service. The place is busy so it is best to call ahead to pick up your order. For sashimi, you choose the fish and they will slice it for you. It is a wonderful unique experience to get high quality food from a market instead of restaurant.

I got this sushi deluxe(?) for $25 which I think is good for the kind of fish I got. The spicy salmon roll was definitely good too because the salmon wasn't chopped up as much as other places so you still have that salmon-y texture.
The only thing is, they don't have a seating area so you have to take it home...so definitely don't recommend for out of town people to go...
Brilliant food. Chirashi was a delightful experience of fresh sashimi and seasoned, perfectly cooked rice. Sushi sampler delivered on taste as well. Only catch is that it is an expensive meal.
Servers and chefs are delighted to help you out.
Everything was so fresh!!! I had such an amazing fish selection and it was pawn season so it was very fresh. The place is a bit confusing but staff was very helpful.
This is actually a fish market. The fish is incredibly fresh and the texture of their rice is the best I’ve ever had. We highly recommend the sashimi (they have lots of variety) and the sushi. I don’t, however, recommend their rolls. Note that this store has a few seats that allow for dining in, but they usually fill up very quickly during peak times. Other than the rolls, I would give this place 10 stars!!!
I love sashimi, which is what drew me to the fish market nearest to my house, which I had heard sold great fresh fish that they could slice into sashimi for you. Taro’s Fish is a small fish shop near Bayview specialising in sushi-grade fish. Once you’re inside the small, clean place you can select from a variety of sashimi and raw fish on display in the fridge, along with cooked items along the counter. Afterwards, you can either buy the food to go or ask the chefs behind the counter to slice and plate your selection for you, and eat along the counter instead.
Taro's Fish is a small fish market/sushi spot in North York, close to the Canadian Tire off Leslie/Sheppard. The plaza that houses this little shop is also tiny itself, but ample parking still to be had. Despite the size of the shop, it's rather spacious inside with frozen, refrigerated, fresh, and cooked foods. They have sushi grade fish, seafood, and various other packages made for your little sushi date nights and such.
Store: Among many of the options that they have here, most of it is sushi grade fish for you to buy and make at home (or eat sashimi style). They have some standard items like imitation crab and fresh salmon. However, they also have interesting items like Uni and Toro (Tuna Belly) and will actually tell you which area they come from.
Dining: They actually have a small menu where you can order rolls and sushi platters to eat in. I saw a couple eating at the countertop facing the shop, so I thought I'd grab some rolls and go to town. I ordered the Sushi Special, which was a salmon roll and 7 pieces of nigiri. The gf also got a large order of Uni (from BC) from the fridge to eat in. The Sushi Special ($20) is worth every penny and I thought it tasted so damn fresh. The salmon roll was jam-packed with salmon chunks and it was so fresh that I could smell the seaweed and rice vinegar, without any smell from the salmon. So good. The nigiri were larger pieces of fish, 3 of which were seared. Love the seared fish on top of the small rice balls and they were fresh and tasted so great.
As a sushi grade fish shop, it does it's job because it houses every ingredient needed to make sushi at home. For me, it excels because it also offers some of the tastiest sushi I've had in the GTA, which is both a compliment and a bit of a knock on actual sushi restaurants. First time actually eating here but definitely will not be my last time.
Taro's fish is a small Japanese store that sells fresh fish and some Japanese products. They also have a selection of sushi that you can order as takeout, or eat in the store. There are a limited number of seats and it is self serve. There are chopsticks, napkins and soy sauce but you will have to buy a bottled drink if you want one.
We ordered the sushi for two which includes two rolls and nine types of nigiri for $50. The sushi was very fresh and delicious! I would definitely recommend coming to Taro's for some fresh sashimi or sushi!
I came here with my fiancé. We ordered the eel and avocado sushi, rainbow roll and spicy salmon. We liked them all especially the avocado and eel one which stood out the most. The ingredients are very fresh. The only negative comment I have is the waiting time. We waited for almost half an hour for the food. However, the food are worth the waiting.
