Decor is just awful, but take time to get past the incredibly outdated and run-down surroundings, and you'll find its well-prepared food with attentive and swift service. Bison burger is astonishingly juicy. Wings and fish and chips are cooked really well. Sides are taken seriously - fries are seasoned, and salads have a great dressing and a lovely candied cashew topping.
We've wanted to try the Brunch here for a while now. In the past, we'd go on a Sunday but for one reason or another, the brunch menu wasn't available. I'm glad to say that today we broke the curse!
I had an Old Speckled Hen, and the Wife had a Ceasar (spicy). Both were good. The OSH was flavourful and robust, her Ceasar was well balanced and had the right amount of heat.
For brunch I ordered Henry's Breakfast (3 eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, a grilled tomato and toast) with my eggs scrambled, and the Wife got Pancakes with Blueberry compot, Maple Syrup, bacon, Vanilla Whipped Cream and fruit. All I can say is Yummy! The food was really good - don't forget about the bottemless cups of coffeee too! It's step up from other breakfasty chains (some of which I've reviewed), yet in the same price range, and with the added bonus of booze! All items were
well cooked, and had the right amount of grease for a Sunday morning.
King Henry's selection of alcohol is long and very good. I will review it at some point, but if you're feeling like a good breakfast/brunch on a weekend, with seemingly endless whiskey and beer options, go west friends!
Excellent food - warm quinoa salad, awesome curry and THE BEST CIDER on tap!! We go at least twice a month!
