Gord and I had lunch today at Shakey's. We sat inside and it was nice and cool. If you are a hockey fan, you would like it because there is tons of hockey memorabilia on the walls (the restaurant was originally owned by former Toronto Maple Leaf Mike "Shakey" Walton).
Gord started with mushroom soup, the soup of the day. He was it was delicious (he ate it all) and he'd get it again. He also had Crab Croquettes. He said it was really good and he'd get it again.
I ordered Dave's Burger without lettuce or onions. It was a really good burger. I ordered the patty "medium" ... it was juicy, flavourful and tender. I'm not a big fan of French fries but these were really tasty I'd get this again.
Emma was friendly and took good care of us.
I'd stop in again the next time I'm in that 'hood.
Service is unreal, very friendly environment, but the food is unbelievable, you can order your burger medium rare which Ive never seen anywhere else, the beef is from a local healthy non-gmo butcher just down the street, definitely the best burgers in Toronto.
Best burger in BWV, hands down - Rowe Farms beef, Cobbs bun. Great selection of beers on tap. Have also had their special chicken burger (it was like pulled pork) and maple carrot soup. Everything I've had there has been delicious. Even our finicky 8 yo says these are the best burgers.
No better burger.... Rowe Farms beef, skillful broiling, fried onion, a toasted bun and fresh cut fries = the best burger experience! Walk past The Works a few doors down and see how it's really done.
First time here with the better half. Just had their daily sandwhich special "braised pork belly sandwhich with hoisin sauce".... It was so good that my initial bite my eyes rolled back lol. And after I devoured it I ordered two more for home.. Ughh!
Chris"s magic. Tried the hamburger at the Works next door/////pointless.....Chris (the chef ) at Shakeys uses rowe farms meat and the difference is obvious..go see for yourselves...also you must try the wings..the best on the strip
Spread the word!!!!!!!!!. A little gem in the heart of Bloor West village. Forget the old Shakey's and anything negative about it. New owner has renovated, refurbished and reenergized the place. Fresh, modern new look with still a hint of it's sports-related past(old Gardens seats in basement are cool). Great beer and spirits selection, great little menu(best burgers in town) and knowledgable, friendly and efficient staff. Yesterday was my most recent visit. Burger(made fresh to order) was fantastic and the service by the beautiful Angie was top-notch!
Located short walk from Runnymede subway or there is a Green P parking lot behind businesses on north side of street.
Spread the word - Shakey's is The Real Deal!!!
Three words. Order the Burger. Rowe farms goodness. Unbelievable flavour. Shut up and order the burger. You heard me.
Don't let the old name fool you.... This place is being revamped to be a gem of bloor west village... Fantastic menu with ingredients from local markets and stores...the new menu is fantastic ..... And if you like suicide wings... This is the place... Great tasting with enough heat to use the word suicide!!!
Hidden Gem. This cozy hidden gem of Bloor West Village is a great place to get more than just wings and beer. Wonderful soups , salads, steak.... stop in you will be glad you did.
