I work down the road from Simone's but had never had it.. I decided to try it out and was so shocked at how amazing it was. I knew it would be good because of the reviews but still... it was literally the best Caribbean meal I've ever eaten. I had the ackee and saltfish, it was a perfect portion, it was fresh and piping hot. Lots of boiled dumpling, they do not hold back on those. I also got a side of fried dumping which were amazing - perfectly golden and crispy on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside.
Im so happy I found this gem!! Now I'm hooked and it will become my new place for lunch while I'm at work! 100% recommend!
Went yesterday for the first time and the food was fantastic. Started with a beef patty for an appetizer and loved it. Ordered a chicken roti for the main which was terrific, a good sized portion full of flavour. The coleslaw side was great as well. Highly recommended!

Service was great. Waitresses were friendly and explained what the dishes were since I wasn't particularly familiar with this kind of cuisine. Things like "Jack Cakes" and "Ackee" were new terms to me.
I ordered the "Ackee and Saltfish" with a side of dumplings, having never heard of the dish before and seeing that it is the "national dish of Jamaica". Personally I found the salt fish a bit too salty, though I mean...it is salt fish I guess, so some degree of saltiness is to be expected.
The ackee had an interested flavour with a smooth, scrambled-egg-like texture, but when it was mixed with the salty juices in the dish, the salty flavour was too overpowering and I didn't like it as much.
The dumplings were the caribbean variety, so it was just flour on flour with no other fillings.
It was ok, but I liked the jack cakes that someone else ordered more.
I'm sure the dish is great; the flavours just didn't work for me since it was all too salty.
Next time I'll try getting their chicken.
Came here with my sisters last night and got a bunch of stuff.
Cod cake, Johnny cake, beef patty, oxtail with rice, bbq chicken with rice and chicken roti.

The chicken is really soft when they cook it. Love the roti and the food pretty much is great.
The Johnny cake is alright. Just not a fan of deep fried bread.
The ppl are really nice too. If you want a carribean fix then this is the place to go.
Good was good. Can't say anything I had was amazing. Tried the ox tail, was a little tough I like it to fall off the bone. Jerk chicken was good but I've had better. People beside us ordered the roti. Looked big and tasty.
We had a great time! Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was amazing. We ordered Johnny cakes, plantain, green salad and the vegetable roti were all fresh, flavourful and the portions were abundant. I was tempted to order take away for tomorrow!!!
I've been going to Simone's since it opened. Whether by myself, with friends or with family, it's often been a positive meal for me. Love their chicken and pumpkin with dumpling soup, their goat curry, their vegetarian roti, their BBQ chicken with rice and beans and other soups and dishes, too.
My son says their beef patty is the best among the many he's had.
This is the Best Caribbean Restaurant in the GTA, Place is lovely, food is amazing and cheap for the amount you get......and the Staff are the best ......go now and visit ,
The Skinny on Simone’s: Delicious, authentic, simple Caribbean cuisine, served with a smile. It is a gem along the Danforth Strip.
We met the famous Simone herself, and she is a delight; friendly and generous with her time — taking her time to describe some key dishes with us, including how she prepared it, how she came to know, as well as some snippets of her childhood and what eating was like back home...
We tried Simone's on a Friday night and the place was great. The service was friendly and the spicy beef patty was the best that I've ever had. The jerk chicken with rice and beans was also delicious. I will definitely come back.
From one carribean to another well done!. The food was great! portion size excellent and you can tell the food is cooked fresh. Speed of service typical for a carribean restaurant (slow) but everyone is very pleasant. Happy to support a good local carribean resturant keep it up!
