What an awesome brunch spot! Inside, it's really cozy and comfortable and the service is absolutely spot on. We had the Spanish fried rice and fried chicken thigh sandwich. I'd go back in a heartbeat for both.
The only thing holding this back from a 5 is I found it a bit pricey but still, can't recommend County General enough.
Next, the Crispy Pig Ears arrived. I believe I have had fried pig ears before but not in this fashion. The pig ears were fried and definitely crispy and a little spicy. There was a container of sauce made of maple syrup, scallion, and spicy mayo. Mmm, this was absolutely divine!! The crispy pig ears were like potato chips, once you start, you just can’t stop! There were such delectable and tasty snacks that completely satisfied my taste buds’ preference for salty and savory bite-sized snacks. The combination of spicy mayo, scallion, and maple syrup was also an absolute perfect sauce. I absolutely loved this!
This is our second time here - after a phenomenal first time visit (after months of following their delicious Instagram account). I like that they have mainstay favourites, mixed with rotating seasonal dishes. The Fried Chicken Thigh Sandwich definitely lives up to the hype - both crispy and moist without being too greasy. The Fried Chicken Benedict is as decadent as it sounds. A perfect Sunday brunch treat. The service was also fast and friendly. Definitely recommend!
Stopped in for a late lunch with friends. Two of us had the brisket burger special with salad or fries and two of us had the falafel with kale salad. We all enjoyed the freshness and flavors. The burger with salad wasn't a lot of food, but the fries were a good sized portion and the falafel was larger. Service was good. We will be back again!
Stopped in here on my first week in the city and i was impressed but almost everything.
The Man behind the bar made a pretty damn good old fashioned while the kitchen put out a divine duck cassoulet and fried chicken thigh. the only disappointment was the terrible coffee
With the warm weather upon us, long walks through Trinity Bellwoods Park are a must... and so is brunch!
The County General lives up to the all the buzz and talk you've all been hearing. It's a tiny restaurant located in a big city - steps from the park - serving farmer inspired dishes, with a rustic decor and plating and a fantastic menu.
For all brunch lovers out there, looking for a homey breakfast done right, using fresh ingredients, The County General is the place to be at.
According to their site: "We make great food, inspired and supplied by Ontario farms and producers, bringing flavor to the forefront of honest cooking, welcoming every one of you as friends and family, and always serving up a good time. We hope you’ll call the County home!" - We feel they live up to this statement!
Last Sunday was the very first nice day of Spring, all of the patios were rammed. We decided to stop-in here for some eats and I'm glad we did. Everywhere was busy and we had to wait a bit for a table, but that was expected.
Starting off with some Mocktails, we tried the Lucky Luciano (Fresh squeezed OJ, black walnut, chocolate bitter, vanilla & ginger beer) and a Ginger Lemonade. Both equally refreshing and an explosion of flavour, due to the clever mix of ingredients.
The cocktail list is very creative too. They have Happy Hour every Mon- Thurs 5:00pm - 6:30-pm ($6 cocktails, $3 beers and $2 Apps*) Happy Hour Menu
Apparently, you can "chow down on whole suckling pig"; we got adventurous and tried out the Crispy Pig Ears (Spicy remoulade and maple) - very brave but we enjoyed the dish.
Also, we had the Chocolate Chip Pancake, Buttermilk Cheddar Scones, Pan Roasted Fall Veggies and the Fried Chicken Thigh Sandwich. All of the dishes we shared; we both loved the pancake and the chicken sandwich the most.
This place is a great Spring/Summer hangout. Very small place with high traffic, so be patient. Our server was very friendly.
Hands down my favourite sneaky restaurant in the city. Amazing culinary creations coming out of such a small Toronto kitchen. Also, the cocktails are to die for. The County General has one of the best selections of liquor in their bar in the city. I highly recommend anyone to this place for a beautiful and creative time.
Favourite!. First time I went here I must admit the service was a bit wishy washy - however since then I have no complaints! Great service, great food and great drinks!! love love lovee!!! The KFC chicken is a must have! Oh and their music /playlists are great too!
Perfect. I mean it. My girlfriend and I have lived in the area for a few years and every time we visit this place it just gets better and better. The staff is amazing, the cocktails are brilliant, especially for those of us who enjoy induldging in darker spirits, and then there's the food.
Here's hoping the fried chicken for two never leaves Toronto's dining landscape.
While the food is flavoursome, it leaves you wanting more - literally. The portions are too small. Service was pleasant but not outstanding. The food, albeit not a lot, wins the vote.
