At first, after coming in the front door, I thought, "what the hell, another pub", typical dark colours, bar stools, high tables, the bar right there. Then we were escorted to our table in the back room. ( four of us) Dark paneling, a tv showing an old Frank Sinatra movie ( in black and white) , Edith Pilaf, Marlene Dietrich drawn in chalk, a few phrases written in french on the walls...but what stole the show, our "serveuse" who had the most magnificent french accent, ( we are talking FRENCH here, not Franco-phone) . She was very attentive, but the food stole the show. The menu had typical french cuisine ( several duck dishes) but my veal with butter squash risotto blew me away. My wife and companions all enjoyed their dishes, which were appropriately priced, but you were not left wanting more food after eating what was put in front of you. Dessert, OMG lets not go there. Amazing. It was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back. 5 stars is not enough.

Great place to meet friends. Did not like the plating of my brunch dish but it tasted amazing. We all had a wonderful meal. Our server, Jose, was great!

Loved it. Been here a few times, and most recently for brunch, and the experience is great each time. Service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Add those frites to your entree, some of the best in the city.

Consistent with good food and pleasant atmosphere and great service. My favorite neighborhood place. Standard menu is fabulous and their specials can be exquisite. Everything is worth trying.

Have been here twice recently.

Very lovely restaurant, had the duck poutine once and the procuitto salad the other and both were seriously AMAZING! Simply delectable dishes!

Service was fine (one gentleman at the bar was very personable, but our server wasn't exactly friendly).

Price is a tad high but was worthwhile for the creative dishes.

Recommended!

Had dinner at Coquine with a friend and it was very yummy. It's a nice French restaurant where you can order items you normally wouldn't order or cook for yourself. It's a bit pricey so not a place I can afford all the time.

I was very impressed with how delicious the food was and the generous serving sizes at Coquine. The duck confit was juicy and flavourful. Another person I was with had the chicken and they enjoyed it a lot. The mains are slightly pricey so I would dine here more for special occasions. I will definitely be back here in the future.

Great place for a girl's night. I went to Coquine for the first time yesterday as part of a party of four. The interior (and exterior for that matter) are gorgeous, and very Parisian. We sat on the covered patio, and even though the weather wasn't that awesome we were still warm and dry.
Our server was efficient, kind of rough around the edges but polite for the most part. I wouldn't say she was super friendly, but she certainly didn't put a damper on our day either.
The Monday oyster promo was kind of on the expensive side (compared to my go-to oyster place, Biff's Bistro) but they were still delish and served with a gigantic pile of horseradish. We also ordered the escargot which everyone adored.
One of my dining partners talked me out of getting the Steak Frites (which, I do think it's a cop-out to order), so I ordered the Côtelette de Porc instead and I was very glad I did--it smelled like heaven the second it hit the table and it tasted even better. The pork chop was perfectly cooked, the Brussels sprouts were crispy, the port glaze was super rich, and you can't go wrong with candied bacon. Everything was plated beautifully.
I look forward to returning to try something new...or just order that pork chop which is now haunting my dreams.

Solid experiences every time. I am a new fan of Coquine Restaurant. I went there first for my birthday. It was quite full on a Sunday night. We were greeted promptly at the door, and our waiter arrived very shortly after we sat down. He was very patient (I was with family whose first language is not English) and accommodating.

We shared the roasted beet salad (Salade de Betteraves Rôties) as well as the Salade de Roquette. The beet salad had a very nice balance of the sweetness of beets, earthiness of potatoes, the acidity of the vinaigrette, and crunch of the candied walnuts. The Roquette salad had a good amount of delicious parmesan breaded oyster mushrooms (I am generally not a fan but I really enjoyed those) that had an almost meaty texture. The parmesan on top was also a nice touch.

For mains, we had the Steak Frites, duck duo (Le Duo de Canard), lamb shank (Jarret d’Agneau) and wild mushroom ravioli (Ravioli aux Champignons Sauvages). The steak was perfectly cooked to a medium, as we requested. It was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and the butter on top was a very good addition. The parmesan fries were also delicious. Crunchy yet not overcooked or overseasoned with the parmesan.

The duck duo was extremely well executed as well. The duck was a nice medium, very tender, beautifully seasoned and was well paired with the croquette. I did not try the lamb but it was fall off the bone, I was told it was also delicious and tender. The ravioli were a perfect al dente and the filling went well with the sauce on top. A beautiful meal overall.

The second time I came back to explore more of the menu. We ordered the french onion soup and Foie Gras du Jour. The onion soup was covered in a thick gooey layer of cheese, overflowing over the dish. It was a classic well executed dish. The foie gras was a wonderful medium rare, seared beautifully on top and melting in your mouth. It was perched on top of a thin bacon wrapped terrine that was a great contrast of saltiness to the french toast-like seared brioche on the bottom. It was served with a small drop of berry compote. The one thing I yearned for was a bit more acidity, as the compote was quite sweet as well and the entire dish was rich on top of rich on top of rich. It was still a wonderful dish.

For dessert, we ordered the warm flourless chocolate torte and the vanilla creme brulee. The torte was one of the richest chocolate flavours I've had, and gooey in the middle. It was not overly sweet, which was very pleasing. The creme brulee was rich yet very light tasting. It was a good serving size as well and on the bottom you could see vanilla bean grains. We also ordered cappuccinos, which had a rich thick layer of foam, and a good milk to foam ratio.

I would definitely recommend Coquine if you are looking for a more upscale, rich and well executed dinner.

Be aware that it can get quite loud in there, I guess because of the acoustics in the building. Also, after 7 or so, there is live music which can also be quite loud. It's a good thing it's situated in the bar area, which is somewhat to the side. Not the quietest place to dine, but the atmosphere is good overall. Our waiter was very prompt, not too overbearing and knowledgeable about the menu. I will certainly be coming back there again. Lots to try!

Great for Brunch!. We came here with a large group for brunch and it looks like others did the same. The food was very good (especially the bread!). The service was ok. It's in a great spot and the decor is fun too.

Excellent dinner. We went to a Coquine on a Sunday night and were surprised by how busy it was. The live jazz was nice but unfortunately way too loud. The food was excellent, although be warned that unless you have a herculean appetite you'll likely struggle with the main course, let along an appetizer. Service was friendly and helpful but nohing special. Overall, not cheap but good. We'll likely come here again.

My new favourite French spot. Just minutes walk from davisville or eglinton. The french onion soup is probably the best ive had. Steak frites and liver dishes were just as delicious. The mussels in cream sauce is a must have as. Our server was very attentive and took care of us. Definitely recommend! Check out the photos for yourself. 😍 👍

Nice place! The waiter was really nice and knowledgable :) The restaurant doesnt have outise parking but you can park on the street (free for an hour). The food was yummy :) I had the croque madame and the apple ice cream cake. The French fries were not the best, hence the 4 stars. I would give 4 stars 1/2 if I could :) Really nice spot to have French cuisine (not the typical but really close)

Here with a group of 7 for a pub crawl. This is a 1st stop of the next night; a quick shot and then back on the road. Quick and courteous service.
