Review Coquine Restaurant - Toronto

Had brunch here late Saturday afternoon and service was great, servers were personable and attentive. Food was great, we really enjoyed eating here. Prices are standard. Will definitely come again if in the area.

My new favourite French spot. Just minutes walk from davisville or eglinton. The french onion soup is probably the best ive had. Steak frites and liver dishes were just as delicious. The mussels in cream sauce is a must have as. Our server was very attentive and took care of us. Definitely recommend! Check out the photos for yourself. 😍 👍

Nice place! The waiter was really nice and knowledgable :) The restaurant doesnt have outise parking but you can park on the street (free for an hour). The food was yummy :) I had the croque madame and the apple ice cream cake. The French fries were not the best, hence the 4 stars. I would give 4 stars 1/2 if I could :) Really nice spot to have French cuisine (not the typical but really close)

Escargot was good. Wine was fine. Service was not up to the standards. Food was ok. Service was slow. We didn't get full sets of napkins and utensils when our first food arrived.

Had the best time here! The food is absolutely delicious!!

Here with a group of 7 for a pub crawl. This is a 1st stop of the next night; a quick shot and then back on the road. Quick and courteous service.

At first, after coming in the front door, I thought, "what the hell, another pub", typical dark colours, bar stools, high tables, the bar right there. Then we were escorted to our table in the back room. ( four of us) Dark paneling, a tv showing an old Frank Sinatra movie ( in black and white) , Edith Pilaf, Marlene Dietrich drawn in chalk, a few phrases written in french on the walls...but what stole the show, our "serveuse" who had the most magnificent french accent, ( we are talking FRENCH here, not Franco-phone) . She was very attentive, but the food stole the show. The menu had typical french cuisine ( several duck dishes) but my veal with butter squash risotto blew me away. My wife and companions all enjoyed their dishes, which were appropriately priced, but you were not left wanting more food after eating what was put in front of you. Dessert, OMG lets not go there. Amazing. It was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back. 5 stars is not enough.

Great place to meet friends. Did not like the plating of my brunch dish but it tasted amazing. We all had a wonderful meal. Our server, Jose, was great!

Second time with our friends Arc and Irene and the gang this past Saturday. Food is amazing - popular with our group are the lamb chops and I love the beet gnocchi. The chocolate lava cake is divine! Also enjoyed the Cosmopolitans - they were delicious. Thanks to our server Michael and owner Rob for a great evening!

Quaint and charming French bistro atmosphere. Friendly waiters and the food and drink menu are exceptional!

Loved it. Been here a few times, and most recently for brunch, and the experience is great each time. Service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Add those frites to your entree, some of the best in the city.

Consistent with good food and pleasant atmosphere and great service. My favorite neighborhood place. Standard menu is fabulous and their specials can be exquisite. Everything is worth trying.

Have been here twice recently.

Very lovely restaurant, had the duck poutine once and the procuitto salad the other and both were seriously AMAZING! Simply delectable dishes!

Service was fine (one gentleman at the bar was very personable, but our server wasn't exactly friendly).

Price is a tad high but was worthwhile for the creative dishes.

Recommended!

Had dinner at Coquine with a friend and it was very yummy. It's a nice French restaurant where you can order items you normally wouldn't order or cook for yourself. It's a bit pricey so not a place I can afford all the time.

I was very impressed with how delicious the food was and the generous serving sizes at Coquine. The duck confit was juicy and flavourful. Another person I was with had the chicken and they enjoyed it a lot. The mains are slightly pricey so I would dine here more for special occasions. I will definitely be back here in the future.

One of the best. My husband and I went here a couple of weeks ago after getting a last minute sitter. It honestly was one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant! Service was great and the food was out of this world.

Hands off. We stopped in for bite to eat on a Thursday night we sat at the front by the bar ,I had gone out to get my glasses when I returned my girlfriend turned to me and said oh I got a nice surprise the bartender walked up from behind me and put his hand on my back Felt like a back rub she she said jokingly, when I sat down he had returned a few minutes later once again stood beside her and proceeded to touch her and put his hand on her shoulder and back we thought it was a bit odd but we decided to go with it and have a drink well 6 times that he came back and forth while we were having that drink to ask us if we wanted something else he constantly stood beside her and always put his hand on her back or her shoulder before he left the table or while he was talking to her.. now I no you're wondering why the hell we didn't say something then but it just caught us so completely offguard we thought maybe he was over friendly but realized after no it's just weird ,she said at one point im so uncomfortable it felt like he rubbed her back so At that point I nearly lost my mind but I kept it cool got up asked for the bill and left ,,, absolutely completely unprofessional I've been in the restaurant business for over 25 years and I have never ever ever seen a server come that close into a customer space my girlfriend and I left she was completely disturbed and upset over it, just felt like as if he groped her violated her we didn't go in for massage we just wanted a quick drink and a small bite to eat I went back and complained and then I went back the next day and complaint to the owner Absolutely unacceptable behavior no matter where you are

They didn't use their OT screen, so wrong table. Sparkling rose had zero sparkles(old bottle); fixed. Lamb shank had luke warm veggies and ice cold couscous. Fixed. $55 bottle not worth it. Not fixed of course. We didn't bother with dessert or cheese after this. Friendly service, but bye bye for now.

Great place for a girl's night. I went to Coquine for the first time yesterday as part of a party of four. The interior (and exterior for that matter) are gorgeous, and very Parisian. We sat on the covered patio, and even though the weather wasn't that awesome we were still warm and dry.
Our server was efficient, kind of rough around the edges but polite for the most part. I wouldn't say she was super friendly, but she certainly didn't put a damper on our day either.
The Monday oyster promo was kind of on the expensive side (compared to my go-to oyster place, Biff's Bistro) but they were still delish and served with a gigantic pile of horseradish. We also ordered the escargot which everyone adored.
One of my dining partners talked me out of getting the Steak Frites (which, I do think it's a cop-out to order), so I ordered the CĂ´telette de Porc instead and I was very glad I did--it smelled like heaven the second it hit the table and it tasted even better. The pork chop was perfectly cooked, the Brussels sprouts were crispy, the port glaze was super rich, and you can't go wrong with candied bacon. Everything was plated beautifully.
I look forward to returning to try something new...or just order that pork chop which is now haunting my dreams.

Here on a Sunday and sat in the bar for brunch. Perhaps that was why the service was terrible. Eggs came out very over cooked and had to be sent back. Server would come to table and not look to see if we needed water or coffee and when asked forgot to bring more water. Food when brought correctly was very good and we enjoyed thoroughly. Good service makes or breaks an experience.

Solid experiences every time. I am a new fan of Coquine Restaurant. I went there first for my birthday. It was quite full on a Sunday night. We were greeted promptly at the door, and our waiter arrived very shortly after we sat down. He was very patient (I was with family whose first language is not English) and accommodating.

We shared the roasted beet salad (Salade de Betteraves Rôties) as well as the Salade de Roquette. The beet salad had a very nice balance of the sweetness of beets, earthiness of potatoes, the acidity of the vinaigrette, and crunch of the candied walnuts. The Roquette salad had a good amount of delicious parmesan breaded oyster mushrooms (I am generally not a fan but I really enjoyed those) that had an almost meaty texture. The parmesan on top was also a nice touch.

For mains, we had the Steak Frites, duck duo (Le Duo de Canard), lamb shank (Jarret d’Agneau) and wild mushroom ravioli (Ravioli aux Champignons Sauvages). The steak was perfectly cooked to a medium, as we requested. It was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and the butter on top was a very good addition. The parmesan fries were also delicious. Crunchy yet not overcooked or overseasoned with the parmesan.

The duck duo was extremely well executed as well. The duck was a nice medium, very tender, beautifully seasoned and was well paired with the croquette. I did not try the lamb but it was fall off the bone, I was told it was also delicious and tender. The ravioli were a perfect al dente and the filling went well with the sauce on top. A beautiful meal overall.

The second time I came back to explore more of the menu. We ordered the french onion soup and Foie Gras du Jour. The onion soup was covered in a thick gooey layer of cheese, overflowing over the dish. It was a classic well executed dish. The foie gras was a wonderful medium rare, seared beautifully on top and melting in your mouth. It was perched on top of a thin bacon wrapped terrine that was a great contrast of saltiness to the french toast-like seared brioche on the bottom. It was served with a small drop of berry compote. The one thing I yearned for was a bit more acidity, as the compote was quite sweet as well and the entire dish was rich on top of rich on top of rich. It was still a wonderful dish.

For dessert, we ordered the warm flourless chocolate torte and the vanilla creme brulee. The torte was one of the richest chocolate flavours I've had, and gooey in the middle. It was not overly sweet, which was very pleasing. The creme brulee was rich yet very light tasting. It was a good serving size as well and on the bottom you could see vanilla bean grains. We also ordered cappuccinos, which had a rich thick layer of foam, and a good milk to foam ratio.

I would definitely recommend Coquine if you are looking for a more upscale, rich and well executed dinner.

Be aware that it can get quite loud in there, I guess because of the acoustics in the building. Also, after 7 or so, there is live music which can also be quite loud. It's a good thing it's situated in the bar area, which is somewhat to the side. Not the quietest place to dine, but the atmosphere is good overall. Our waiter was very prompt, not too overbearing and knowledgeable about the menu. I will certainly be coming back there again. Lots to try!

Cons: Pork eggs Benedict was dried up. The accompanying salad was over saturated with dressing. The cream in my coffee curdled twice. Cappuccino was less than half a cup full Pros: fluffy pancakes (missing whipped cream though)

Great for Brunch!. We came here with a large group for brunch and it looks like others did the same. The food was very good (especially the bread!). The service was ok. It's in a great spot and the decor is fun too.

Wierd. Very wierd. A second rate mess hall tacked on to a cougar bar? Leave your tastebuds at home because all you get is cheap cologne and perfume in your face. Weird. Unless ur a coug I guess ;)
Respekt
4/5. Coquine:

The ambiance is welcoming and especially classy.
Waiters and waitresses are running all over the place, but keep up with the busyness.

The food is delicious and filling. I recommend the Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chops or the amazinggg Chicken Caesar Salad! Go to this restaurant--you won't regret it! :)

How do you run out of French onion soup ( after only 10 orders) during the holiday lunch period when it's your specialty? Server told me I should ask the kitchen. Not impressive.

Very nice atmosphere. I had the veal cheeks. Good but not what I expected. SSomewhat underwhelming for $25. My wife had the beet gnocci which was quite nice. Beer selection limited to five on tap.

Excellent dinner. We went to a Coquine on a Sunday night and were surprised by how busy it was. The live jazz was nice but unfortunately way too loud. The food was excellent, although be warned that unless you have a herculean appetite you'll likely struggle with the main course, let along an appetizer. Service was friendly and helpful but nohing special. Overall, not cheap but good. We'll likely come here again.

I've never been to a restaurant more busy on a Sunday night. Live jazz, good service and an amazing beet gnochi. Do it:)

Awesome food, great people, and a lovely atmosphere. I will go again and tell everyone else to do the same.

Coquine. The atmosphere is very inviting. Busy, yet relaxed.
Service was fantastic!
Food was great, very fresh ingredients and prepared superbly.

Imagine a more impressive Grazie's both food quality and vibe.
Recommend!

Coquine is a French Bistro, just south of Eglinton on Yonge with an amazing covered patio. It’s one of a few mid-range restaurants in the area, which I will be adding to my lunch rotation when in need of finer fare.
I pranced past the Finish Line: a feast at Coquine Restaurant . I was immediately welcomed by a Parisian style bistro bar and cutesy dinning room decorated in Eiffel Tower motif and the smile splitting “warms my heart,” portraits of dramatic belle’s. As soon as I arrived I started shooting the space while moments later Julie the Marketing maven at Strum App gave me a hug. We sat by the bar and did a bit of catching up while sipping on a Manhattan. I met with the team at Strum a few days before heading to Ireland for my St. Paddys Day press trip. I enjoyed a lovely chat with Andrew the CEO and Founder where he discussed his passion for customer service and how he came about developing Strum App. By the end of our meeting we decided to host a dinner with a few of my favourite social media app savvy friends at one of Andr

overall.. an impressive, aged Pinot Noir with some space for improvement.

Coquine Restaurant serves up an excellent weekend brunch, with all the charm and flavour of a European patio café. The restaurant is decked out art-deco style, with lots of white tile, dark wood and vintage posters lining the walls. Coquine boasts several large dining rooms and a quaint patio, perfect for people watching or a leisurely meal. A large group of us descended on Coquine one Sunday morning for a late brunch, and found the menu to be both classic and eclectic. Let me explain… Traditional Sunday morning brunch normally sees a line-up of the usuals; pancakes, omelets and waffles. While Coquine serves up all of these items, they do it all with a pronounced French flavour, not afraid of adding a little gourmet to your breakfast. Coquine's wonderful Apple Jack's ($11) offers up a stack of fluffy pancakes, topped with delectable caramelized apple and maple syrup. The delightful Vanilla French Toast ($12) is flavoured with f
