Great wee place this is. One of the finest whisky bars in the Big Smoke, or anywhere else for that matter. And a fine restaurant to boot. Best haggis I've eaten outside of Scotland. The staff are friendly, intelligent, helpful and fun to chat with. I'm from Lanark, Scotland now living in Winnipeg, but this will be one of my stops whenever I visit Toronto. If you don't visit this excellent establishment then you're a proper daftie, a real no-hoper.
Maggie the bartender while I was there was just the best. She gave me great recommendations on the scotch I should try. She also steered me In the right direction on the food. Scottish sampler and deep fried Mars bar. Don’t knock it until you try it. Can’t wait to be back in Toronto just so I can go try other great scotch and food.
Popped in ten days ago in our on-going quest to sample all the Scottish pubs in the world's finest cities. The Caledonian is definitely worth all five stars, a cracking place with quality food (including deep-fried Mars bar for pudding, haha!). Locals were great too, really friendly and welcoming (my top tip is make friends with the "key holders", generous bunch that they are). Best bar in Toronto, will certainly pay another visit when (not if) we make it back to this wonderful city.
