I'm a visitor from far away (Scotland) and had this place highly recommended. They were right, it was superb. My only negative is that I didn't have enough room to try more - it would be cool to have a big mixed platter option with lots of varieties! :)
First time I have taken dumplings to go! I prefer sitting in but was not an option that night! They travel quite well which was a nice surprise! I like to visit for dumplings every time I am in Toronto! Everything was tasty!
Pretty decent Chinese restaurant!
We both enjoyed the northern style noodle salad (J6).
We were surprised to find the dish is available because it’s hard to find it!
I liked the green dumplings as well.
We were a little disappointed with the xia long bao, bc it didn’t have much ‘soup’ to it :(
Usually you would drink the soup out of the dumpling first, but nothing came out when we tried.
The dessert sweet assorted buns were okay, but the middle coconut dumpling? Was very delicious!
We came in for just a quick bite of sweet pork buns and they did not disappoint. While our young kids watched them make them, they gave them tiny balls of dough for them to try themselves. Don't expect that every time; but it was nice of them to care and entertain.
This affordable restaurant is bigger than you think. In the back, you can see the people in the kitchen making the ravioli before your eyes. They offer a wide variety of dumplings, steamed or pan-fried. I find particularly pretty their pan-fried pork and bok choi dumplings (they seem surrounded by lace), and their basket of sweet steamed buns, shaped as fruits.
Then you get to stroll through Chinatown, on Spadina, south of College Street, and Dundas Street West, up to the AGO. The district is always effervescent with its multiple small businesses. It is well frequented by the Asian population, which gives it all the credibility wanted.
