We were SO pleasantly surprised by Hara Sushi! I am so happy we finally tried it. I think it could be the best food in Sooke. I am a sushi fan and I love how Hara is doing traditional and also non traditional rolls (something akin to Bamboo Sushi in Portland or even Katsuya in LA). The sushi is extremely fresh and flavorful. I believe the owner said the sushi chef has been making sushi for 45 years in Japan. Sooke is very fortunate to have him. My Dad had the salmon and tuna teryiaki plate and it came sizzling hot and very fresh. He loved it. We will be coming back this week!
I absolutely LOVE Hara Sushi! It is the best sushi I have ever had. Everything is fresh, vibrant and beautiful! Chef is truly an artist. The service is friendly and very quick. Very good quality and excellent value for your money. I recommend the Popcorn Roll. It's ridiculously good! Thank you for coming to Sooke! You are appreciated : )
Great vegan options and excellent service including her taking the time to check vegan options and ingredients in menu items to make sure. She was also prompt and friendly. SO happy I found this place 😊🙏.
I eat here all the time for the past 5 years. I have brought my friends from Japan here while they were visiting and they loved it and said it was high quality sushi that you would get in Japan. The Korean food choices are also delicious and authentic. Food is great and they have takeout too. Lastly the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. I highly recommend Hara Sushi!! Amazing take out experience 2 nights in a row! The staff are extremely friendly, pick up times are quick, and the food is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the yam tempura and real crab/avocado roll. This will definitely be one of my go to places! Can't wait to try more of the menu.
I was positively thrilled and surprised to find such a delicious Japanese restaurant in Sooke! The service was 5/5 (super warm and attentive), and even though our server warned us the wait would be a while, the time flew by with her bringing us water, tea, and our appetizer. Plus, they were clearly all hustling as fast as they could.
For the food, they were actually sold out of a few things because we came later in the evening, but that made it clear they make everything fresh, same day. We had the agedashi tofu, which was perfectly crispy outside and soft inside with a tasty sauce beneath. My spicy chicken tofu soup came out steaming with an egg and rice, and I loved it. My husband had the yaki udon stir fry noodles and he devoured it.
Tea was free, and I'm writing this review as we're sitting in Hara for a second night in a row!
I've been twice now and the food is very good! Everything comes quick and staff is kind. Will definitely be back as I think this is now on my short list of go-to places for food in Sooke!
Another hidden gym in Sooke for sushi! Small restaurant but extremely well oiled machine. Food was prepped and out in a timely fashion. Delicious , fresh and good selection. The fish for the sushi was caught that day I was told.

Very friendly service! Sushi rolls were all quite good, although maybe a bit too much rice for the yam rolls. The miso soup was comforting!

Everything was DeLish! Service was excellent, the macha green tea salt, I had the server put it in a doggy bag.
Tempura prawns were amazing.
Best sushi I’ve ever had! Highly recommended. Ordered the dinner platter combo (Sashimi and sushi combo) and it’s worth it!
