A great place to visit in UBC. You can get a walking tour of the famous campus at the same time. We enjoyed the museum and there are tons of interesting items to see. Planning to go back in the summer.

One of the best museums I have been to in a long time. So much to see an read and it was all so interesting. The museum covers indigenous cultures from all over the world. When we went they also had a 10 year anniversary exhibit on the earthquake in Japan. Highly recommend to everyone.

Hadn't been in 30 years and it was as great as I remembered. I love the indigenous artifacts of course--great place to bring kids, and indigenous people get in free. But the international collection is great as well--so much human creativity on display. And the temporary exhibit was fantastic.

A truly remarkable place and a must visit even if history and indigenous culture doesn’t peek your interest. It was a very enriching experience learning and just absorbing the history being communicated through the exhibits and stories being told by the artists and curators. I’m not a museum person, but this was a 10 out of 10!

4.5 stars The place is not huge but still with a lot of artworks. Despite the famous totem poles, there are also a great collection of asian artworks (Chinese, Korean, Japanese), also a bunch of Mexican artworks. The downside is most artworks only have a label that says where it come from, no more stories behind that. Overall a good place to go to, especially if you love totem poles.

Amazing collection at this Museum! I went to see the Xicanx exhibition but the real star were their archives that are usually hidden from the public in other museums. Stuff from all over the world really feels like you're seeing the beauty of world cultures from a single place.

Beautiful galleries that include drawers you can pull out and explore for hours. We joined a quick tour and wandered after. The tour was very well done, and included learning how a canoe was made and getting to touch it. There were audio/visual instillations that let us sit back and listen to oral histories, and just over all well designed displays. Only thing I wish they had were some dates on collections.

Insightful and beautiful at the same time. I was especially thrilled to see so many displays from Haida artists. The displays can catch a child's interest too and it was worth sharing and explaining the various displays.

The Museum of Anthropology is truly amazing! I could spend several days admiring the collection and probably not do justice to it all. The $18 an adult admission is money well spent! The honest questioning by exhibitors about the ethics of saving pieces such as large totems that were meant to be in a heritage place and then return to the earth as opposed to preserving them to gain an understanding of cultural heritage is handled so well. This Catch 22 situation really makes you think. Having said such I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience them. The extensive collection including permanent and loaned Indigenous art work, including a spectacular collection of Bill Reid carvings and other pieces will fill touch your heart and soul!

Amazing historical artifacts and stories of native peoples experiences both good and hideous treatment they received on a massive scale with regard to residential schools. I did enjoy learning about potlatches. Wonderful place to see. I am gladdened to see the preservation and pride of their culture and art on display. There is also articles from across the globe of other nations. Really nice to spend 2-4 hours. Bring lunch and hang out around the grounds weather permitting. The cafeteria on site was closed.
